Our first time to visit Montana. Tony set us up with Zack Scott, Scott Stanko and Lane Armstrong as our guides. This was a wonderful trip. These guides were top notch...patient, knowledgeable, hard working and enthusiastic throughout the three full days of float fishing. We were in the fish constantly each day with several nice fish per day. They were especially good with my kids and when I had a day on a raft just me and the guide, he easily switched to all business and worked hard to keep me on the fish and coach me on proper technique with encouragement throughout the day. Concerning Tony, though we did not fish with him, he was quick to respond during the planning with accurate and helpful information...super easy booking through him. Thank you Russell for earning me some massive points, this trip was perfect! My husband had an amazing time and immediately wished we were in town longer to book again! I honestly thought I was just going along for the ride.. I'm VERY new to fly fishing so was just gonna go for a float ride on the water ( which was great! So don't hesitate to go even if you don't want to fish!). However, Russell set me up and put me in a fish almost immediately! Sooo cool! As for my husband, he caught some really nice fish and we both learned a lot as well! Russell knows his stuff and was just such an easy going, fun guy to hang out with! Felt like fishing with a good buddy! Easy conversations all day, beautiful scenery, great instruction etc. Could not ask for a better experience! Oh and he showed up early and ready to go, had a yummy lunch and drinks for us and communicated well prior to the trip (put up with our multiple calls and many questions!). When I was there it seemed that many locals had walked to the park with their dogs. They are supposed keep their dogs on a lease per local ordinance though three people were letting the dogs run around of the lease. This is a problem especially when the dogs are not well trained and jump up on strangers. I was not to happy about a wet dog jumping on me. There is a small free parking area near Spruce Street with boards put up by the local Audubon Society to educate visitors to what type of birds like the park. Most of the park was donated by The Greenough Family in 1902.

Greenough Park is many things to many people. It's a Central turning-point to a ying-yang gear, A Zen way-station for transitioning to and from. It's a source of inspiration and a place to forget. A location to vanish into the ether, returning only when you choose. A point to recharge. Without a doubt, Greenough Park is one of my most favorite and cherished places on the planet, and is the soul of the Missoula community. Given as a gift to the city of Missoula by Thomas and Tennessee Greenough in 1902 so that the residents of Missoula would always have a place "during the heated days of summer, the beautiful days of autumn and the balmy days of spring find a comfortable, romantic and poetic retreat." (With one catch: attempt to develop it and the ownership would immediately revert to the Greenough heirs) the park's one-hundred plus history has seen its share of change and alteration, but for the most part has remained untouched by the areas encroaching development. And while Missoula doesn't have near the stress & tension found in a megapolis, it's still great asset to have that give you an opportunity to have a picnic in the woods, meditate or read a book by the creek, or get "lost" for an hour or an afternoon on one of the many trails. The park and space mean different things to different people. So much so, that if you were to ask ten different people what Greenough means to them, you would probably get ten very unique answers. So, the best thing one could do is to visit. Sit by the flowing waters of the Rattlesnake, or explore the many trails and come away with your own perspective. It's definitely time well-spent

We met at their shop and they took us in a van to the starting point 10 min away. After a quick safety brief we got on the water. Our 5-year-old rode with my husband, I had our daughter, and our 13-year-old went in a single. There were a few tiny rapids that the kids loved and a quick stop at a creek where we explored a little. Layne and Luna were very friendly, patient, and helpful guides as we went down the river. Of note, our meeting point was in Alberton, about 20 miles west of Missoula, not in Lolo like it says on Yelp. You won't be disappointed!

Course is picturesque and challenging in the right places. Big things happening here, do yourself a favor! Food: The menu isn't extensive but what they do, they do well. My fave is the BLT wrap, paired with a Ginger Ale made with their own ginger syrup. Worth a call to check on specials- the view from the restaurant is amazing and sunsets are an event.

I had the johns pork chop sandwich which was very good. It is a golf course but i thought the menu had a large variety of options. The place was very clean and the staff was professional and helpful. The only downside is that the place is relatively small so it tends to be a bit loud and your neighboring table is right next to yours. It is worth the quick drive from missoula.

We walked around Jacob's Island and the University of Montana's nearby parks. This felt like the…read moreoriginal old part of the city, because of its proximity to hiking trails and the river. The river winds through Missoula, at times too rough for tubers and canoes, but perfect for experienced kayakers and rafters during springtime melt. The area around Jacob's Island was full of college students on summer break, jumping into the water from the bridge, swimming, and tubing down a calm section. It was so hot the day we were there that I considered jumping in myself, but when you don't have a towel or a change of clothes, it's not possible. I'm not sure if river water smell ever gets out of cloth seats. The Clark Fork River outside of Missoula is quite impressive and begs all comers to throw in a line or drop in a canoe. In town, the river is a place to cool off, but it doesn't maintain the magical feeling of a Montana wilderness river. It may have had the feeling at one point, but the town is too built up now to still be there.
