Would you stay at a hotel right on the trainlines into the main train station of the largest city in the country? The hotel is also located very close to the docks where our Viking Rhine River cruise boat docked, although it is very difficult to walk there due to busy roadways in the area. The back of the hotel overlooks a dozen railway lines, with the docks in the background. The front of the hotel overlooks the river, and center of the city. We used Hilton honors points for our May 26-May 28, 2024 stay, and got upgraded to a fourth-floor suite, on the corner. Got the usual fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookies. Place is shaped like a triangle due to sharp angles of the building. Our unit had a spacious bathroom with separate tube and shower, a separate bedroom, and separate living room with a mini bar. Floor to ceiling windows in bedroom and living room. The living room had a sofa, desk, multiple sitting tables and view of the river. Closet without doors, as is common in Europe. One of the quirks of having a corner room is that the unit was shaped like a triangle. Opening the bathroom door would block the main door from opening. Very quiet, as we faced away from the railway tracks, and no vehicle traffic on the combination bike/pedestrian walkway in front of the river. We are Hilton Diamond members and had access to the top floor Executive Lounge, but didn't eat there. Ate downstairs at the free breakfast buffet for Hilton Gold and Diamond members, and free happy hour appetizers/snacks at the bar. The airport is accessible by surface train from the nearby Centraal Station, although if you have check-in luggage, you should take a taxi, as the train cars have very limited room to store oversized luggage, and no overhead storage compartments like airlines. They also make a large number of stops. Rated 100/100 on the walkability scale by Tripadvisor, with 174 restaurants and 67 attractions within 0.3 miles. read more

Amazingly horrible hotel. The size of the room is extremely small, especially for guest coming from india who are used to great customer service and good standard of rooms. I stayed here with my wife and infant son, while going out of the hotel in the morning i specifically asked the reception to ask the housekeeping staff to change the sheets. At my ater dismay after coming back in evening the sheets were changed and the receptionist has specially made a note of the same. And then they say the housekeeping staff has left for the day and they are sorry. Really disappointing to see such a brand treating well paying customers like this. Dont book it at all. read more

This hotel is close to central station, many different canal cruise boats and a 5 min walk to get into the Warren of streets in the heart of Amsterdam tourist area with absolute scores of restaurants bars and souvenirs famous red light district and fantastic architecture. Service at the hotel was super friendly and helpful. We had a room overlooking the canal which was great. Room clean bed great and of course free cookies on check in. You could even rent an umbrella for a couple of days. Self serve well stocked Convience store in lobby. Don't forget rooftop terrace as well as a smaller one on floor 10. Walk to the highest room number on that floor and bring you key to access to terrace. I will review restaurants separately read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience related to the DoubleTree hotel near Amsterdam Central Station. A group of friends and I had been planning a guys' trip to Amsterdam for quite some time, and we chose this hotel specifically for its convenient location. Unfortunately, I broke my foot shortly before the trip and had to cancel my reservation. That's when the frustration began. I discovered my booking had been made through a third-party service called "Guest Reservations." When I contacted Hilton/DoubleTree directly, they told me they couldn't assist because it was a third-party booking. When I reached out to Guest Reservations, they claimed the hotel would not allow any changes or cancellations. I was essentially bounced back and forth with no resolution. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of flexibility or willingness to help from the hotel. I wasn't even asking for a refund at that point--I simply requested to transfer the reservation to a friend who was going in my place. The hotel refused to even add his name to the booking. As a result, I lost the full amount of my reservation. For a brand like DoubleTree/Hilton, I expected much better customer service and a more reasonable approach to an unfortunate situation. This experience has left a very negative impression. I will not be staying with them in the future and would strongly caution others about booking--especially through third-party sites. read more

Loved our stay here! 5/5 for rooms, service and location. Rooms - clean room with a great view of the water. We enjoyed watching the boats pass by. Not a super cramped room. Outlets next to each side of the bed. Came with a little table. Only draw back was that the pillows had very little fluff in them. Service - they provide warm cookies upon check-in and water bottles. The check in line was the slowest for Hilton members, which was weird. They have an express check out if needed. Location - we wanted to stay by the train station, and this was a short walk, under 10 minutes. It is also a very short walk to tourist attractions, so we found it very easy. Additional: - You can rent an umbrella for €2 per day (which you will probably need in Amsterdam, especially during rainy season) and a portable WiFi device which can accommodate 3 phones for €10. - The cafe below has very good coffee. - They have a rooftop bar which you will need a reservation to go. -Bathrooms in the main lobby. read more

I was trying to decide between this hotel and another Hilton hotel. After doing some investigation, I decided this is the better option for me. The hotel is near the Centraal Train Station, within a few minutes of the Red Light District, incredible restaurants and many of the local attractions. Due to many changes in my schedule, I ended up with five separate reservations.... Being a HHonors member, I had received welcome emails prior to my arrival on what to expect at the hotel. The day before my arrival, I was able to select my own room. Great feature. When I arrived, Amri, Service Agent, had welcomed me to the hotel. I had to apologized for being one of those guests with multiple reservations. He laughed. Luckily, the room was available for the entire stay. He proceeded to get me checked in then informed me about my privileges and about the amenities of the hotel. The room was recently updated with a bright wall color and minimal decor. Plenty of lighting is this room. The bathroom is a little compact but I made it work. I did have an angle view of the harbor which was okay with me. I wasn't planning to be in the room much... anyways. The compact refrigerator is located in the storage unit/closet. The public areas such as the large lobby was very well lit. There's restaurant and lounge on the first floor near the lobby. There's a fitness center, if needed. There's even a rooftop restaurant/bar, unfortunately, I was not able to make it up there. We were greeted by the front desk staff, who even acknowledged our loyalty. Our initial room we had I issues on, which ultimately required us to change rooms. When we initially changed rooms, the front desk staff (Younger girl Anne or Anna) placed us in another room. Initially, it was a big issue, but she immediately calmed and rectified the issue. The other room was exactly what we needed! The staff throughout our stay were completely memorable. They were always so kind and helpful anytime you needed anything. This goes also for Marco (Front Desk) and also the tall guy, balk, and skinny working the breakfast chek-in. The younger blonde girl at the bar makes a phenomenal hot chocolate too. The gym is big, has everything you need to workout (Except a Peloton), but be mindful it can get very busy. If you read through my reviews, it is difficult to get a five-star review. The hotel is fine but not great for the price! The hotel is all about location! The hotel is very centrally located in town near the train station. If you are seeking a hotel by location then this is your place! Our room did have a great view of the main canal! Perfect for watching the tour boats! Great big windows with a mini window that could be opened for fresh air. The rooms are not super modern whereas the outside of the hotel is very modern. Room are basic and small. Bathrooms are very tiny as well. Despite the smallness, and age, rooms are clean. The hotel does have an executive lounge. The lounge is quite small and people are aggressive over the limited food. Free beer and three different wine exist. As diamond members we got free breakfast each day. The restaurant holds 200 people and super busy from start to end with aggressive guest. The brunch is extensive. The brunch even has champagne for mimosas. This was probably my favorite Hilton property I have ever stayed at. We were upgraded to a room with a semi-private terrace in addition to a balcony with amazing city views. The concierge was extremely helpful. The front desk personnel were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. (A bit chaotic). The roof top bar was very good and the bartenders were nice. The location is so convenient and close to public transportation and easy walking distance to so much. The only negatives for me were the executive lounge and the room service. Room service was inconsistent. They would take towels and not leave replacements. Twice we had to ask for items to be delivered to the room. (toilet paper, tissue paper) The executive lounge was nice but in the evenings would run out of food and in the morning the breakfast offered so much less than the buffet at the restaurant. And service was slow. I can't help to mention once again the views and the concierge...fantastic. read more

QUIRKY GOOD Most everyone will rave about the location. The property hovers over the trainlines into AMSTERDAM CENTRAAL STATION. (Thumb up) If you are a trainspotter (I am) you will be excited by the comings & goings of mainline trains punctuated by the passage of TGV-style high speed trains for Belgium, France, Germany and beyond (Two thumbs up). The rooms are spacious if a bit masculine. That's not a complaint! And there is bags of space for luggage -- open, not always the case in some properties. (Thumbs up) THE NEGATIVES Breakfast? Chaotic. Service? Almost non-existent. Food? Nothing to write home about. Check-in? Completely disorganized. Staff act like they haven't had training, don't know how to communicate with housekeeping and other department, don't have a lick of management oversight , or all and more! The rooms? While the colours are bold, the decor is dated and needs a refresh Windows? They are not multi-glazed. Depending on which side of the building you are on, you may be disturbed by train horns to the North or late night party boats on the South side of the property BOTTOM LINE A solid choice if you are HILTON loyalist..... or are travelling with a group...... or act like a hermit (and barely venture past home base -- other than to McDonalds and local tourist traps. For the money, Amsterdam offers MANY far better location at the same price point AND LOWER than have more quirky / arty / inventive local design, hard amenities and efficient, organised service. I'm not sure if Amsterdam is always outrageously expensive as far as lodging goes or whether it was because we happened to be visiting during King's Day but prices were out of control. I tend to gravitate towards DoubleTrees anyway but this place had (ITALICS) reasonable prices during our stay and was close enough. Regarding location, it is very convenient due to proximity to central station if you plan on taking a train at any point. It is also good for public transportation as there are tram and metro stops in the vicinity. The actual city is pretty close, about a 10 min walk probably, but there is a little bit of a hike. It could absolutely be worse but it's not like you can just step outside and be in the thick of things. During our stay, it was super busy because we checked in on King's Day which is a crazy holiday in the Netherlands if you aren't familiar. The person who checked us in really went above and beyond to upgrade my room due to my Diamond status. There are many times previously when I have not been upgraded or the status wasn't even acknowledged, so this was very much appreciated. Regarding their Diamond benefits, they have free breakfast for Diamond members (my parents are not diamond members but received this as well as they were on my reservation). They also have an executive lounge adjacent to the bar that has some offerings during happy hour. I will say though that this is by far, the busiest executive lounge I have ever visited and it was very difficult and sometimes impossible to find seating most of the time. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was absolutely lovely. Given the average size of rooms in Amsterdam, the room was very spacious and had floor to ceiling windows overlooking the canal. We had two very large TVs in our room. The bed was queen sized and not particularly comfortable. The "living room area" of the suite actually didn't have any lighting, which was kind of odd. We didn't sit there at night because we didn't want to sit in the dark. The shower was great but 2/3 of the soaps in the bathroom were empty and not refilled during our stay. The thing that held the toilet paper roll to the wall kept falling off the wall and was not fixed either. The air conditioning did not work. There is a dock on that canal right outside of the hotel where our window was. One of the nights of our stay, there was a very rowdy group of people who got off of a cruise who proceeded to, as a group, BELT popular songs from the early 2010 era. This was after 11pm. We actually called the front desk about this and shortly after, the ruckus stopped but who's to say whether or not the hotel had anything to do with that. This certainly is not the hotel's fault by any means but just something to be aware of in terms of location. read more

The location is just great. You will see a wild variance in the quality of rooms based on upgrades that are ongoing, but ask for a view. The thing that did not vary was the quality of the staff from Christina in the restaurant who was perfect, to Stella at the front desk to Joop at the Bell station. Just a joy to interact with and they made this a true Hilton stay. There is a lounge that gets crowded with scared tourists and bored business people, so go in the off hours. Sadly this place went down in quality and service post-Covid. As a Diamond member I was treated very nice here, unfortunately not this time. I had to replace the room key, it didn't work wither in the elevator or to open the room. The quality of the towels is beyond poor, they are old not not nice anymore. For Diamonds you get "special" access to the Sky Lounge, however you still have to wait until a table becomes available, the food at the Hilton members lounge poor as well. I may have to find another Hilton for the next trip in Amsterdam. read more

I spent a week in the DoubleTree by Hilton in Amsterdam in February 2020 and while there were a few hiccups, overall I had a great stay. Positives: - Location. The location is perfect in the fact that it's right by the train station and at the top of the city center. - Clean. Overall the rooms were really clean. I requested no room cleaning one day and even got a call later in the day making sure I didn't need anything from the staff. -Executive Lounge- during set hours of the day, if you're a Diamond member you get free breakfast and "dinner" which is from 5-7. Some of, if not most of the food I didn't love but mostly from a cultural difference. -Gym -Rooms: the rooms I thought were really nice. They were updated and pretty modern. I had a great view of the city too. The hotel features the Skylounge on the 11th floor with amazing city views, albeit pricey drinks, but a fun vibe. Cons: -Location: although it's close to the train, it's kind of out of the way from most other locations in the city. If you're going to be in any other part of the town, it's going to be a good 15-20 minute walk at least. So what I'm saying is that it's really not as central as a tourist may want. -I had an issue in the bathroom where the tub would not drain. They were supposed to move me but never reached out. They never came to fix the tub either so it was broken the entire time. -For me the beds were too hard Also note the hotel has a Starbucks and another restaurant attached to it. read more

Our AirBnb was a disappointment so we checked to see the rates at the DoubleTree. Not excessive and definitely comfortable so we made the switch. The hotel is in a very good location, a short walk from the Centraal Station which is of course, central to Amsterdam and access to all modes of transportation. This was helpful as we rode the trams and metro a number of times, plus the train from here to Schiphol with luggage. Better than the usual DoubleTree standard, I was upgraded to an excellent room with a city view on a high floor away from the elevator. The room was super quiet and very comfortable. Plenty of space to spread out, a comfortable work desk and the first enclosed shower I've seen on my whole trip to Europe! The executive lounge was excellent. I always forget the warm cookies the reception gives out at Doubletree locations. Always a pleasant surprise! It is located two blocks away from the Centraal station. Upon exiting the station, make a left. If you have luggage, better take it slow as you cross the streets. Buses or bikes may run over you. They have bathrobe and slippers! A huge plus. Also, they offer paper cups, and you can brew your tea/coffee and take it to go with you as you embark on your city tour or adventure. I think all the rooms offer a view of either the city center/downtown area or the ferry/rail side of the city. As most European hotels do, they offer postal service on your behalf. On my first day there, the staff offered to mail my postcards for free. The next day, the staff asked for a euro or two. So better prepare for some change, the information on the postal cost is not consistent. The business center is located right in the lobby. It is convenient, and you can print out tickets/boarding pass. The internet is fast! Woot! They also have safari as a browser! The downside is that the water pressure is low for the toilet in room. As a country that is known for its environmental friendliness, I have to push both flush buttons to generate enough water pressure to flush. That is wasting more water than necessary. The only thing that I want to mention is that while the hotel appears close to the Centraal station, it does take a few minutes to cross the busy intersections in the city. Give yourself a few extra minutes to make your way downtown. For example, if Google Maps tell you the walking time is 5 minutes to get to the Centraal, give yourself 10 minutes instead. I'd recommend this hotel! I will definitely stay here if I were to return to the area. read more

'Ello chaps! DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station is located - as the name implies - literally next to Amsterdam Centraal Station. It's one of just a few hotels this close to the station, which is a big plus. Checking in, service was great - friendly and attentive. There are 11 floors to the building, with a bar/nightclub at the top. This is one of the downsides to the hotel in that for a couple of nights, the music was a bit loud and could clearly be heard while trying to sleep. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The hotel is located in a great part of downtown, so it's easy to go out and explore by foot or to meet up for a tour or hop on public transportation if that's what you're doing. We explored town by foot without a problem. There are bikes available for rent - at 15 euro per day - and come with bike locks. There is a gym on site (did not inspect) but beyond this there are few amenities. Although there are ice machines on select floors. Overall I give DoubleTree four stars out of five. read more

The staff at this Doubletree are some of the best I've ever experienced. As a Hilton gold member who travels frequently, the hospitality and ability to accommodate my party was top tier. In addition, the cookies here were delicious as always (you know what I mean if you've stayed in a doubletree before). The view from our room was probably one of the best in the city. Everything was a fairly quick walk, and even the further attractions such as the Van Gogh museum and MoCo weren't that bad to traverse to. Another part of this hotel that was key was the breakfast. The breakfast buffet (included for gold members) is probably the best breakfast I've had at a Hilton hotel. They didn't have the omelette station like some Embassy Suites have, but they had such a variety of quality foods you can't go wrong. Great location if you are taking the Eurostar into Amsterdam. The hotel itself is modern and not that bad as other run down properties in the UK. Front desk staff could be more polite and helpful. We had to patiently wait for a room to be available and not sure if there were just excuses of genuinely they didn't have any. The welcome Cookie was tasty. Rooms are not cleaned unless you request it. The Lavazza coffee in the room is very bitter and not something one can drink daily. The rooftop lounge is very nice and one can see the views of the canals and Amsterdam from there. It gets very noisy so it's better to go at a quieter time to enjoy it. Stayed here because it was close to the Centraal Station, the main train station in the city. I loved the inside of the hotel too. The style is modern/contemporary simple yet small rooms. The hotel is close to everything and you can easily walk, rent or borrow a bike and ride all over the city. Eating at the hotel is not cheap and why should you when there are excellent Middle Eastern , Indonesian, other Asian and Dutch restos everywhere. Indonesian rice tables are everywhere and a bargain. . Free-wifi. My room had an iMac??? That was a nice plus.. The service and brand are consistently Hilton and I loved the building so I took une foto. Tip: There is a Starbucks on the first floor. Plus I love the Febo vending machines all over the city. Same concept as in Japan-- you can get hot and cold meals, drinks and snacks, even things like hot French fries, a slice of tarte, or hot fried chicken from a vending machine. DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station was the hotel I chose to stay at during my time in Amsterdam. Hilton has a large number of hotels in Amsterdam across multiple brands: Hilton, Waldorf Astoria, Hampton by Hilton and even Doubletree, I chose this one as it is a modern hotel is probably the most Central locations of all of them, accredited as a "four-star" hotel, it is literally a stone throw away from Central Station. This means that nearby there are multiple train services to the airport, international destinations such as Brussels, as well as tram and metro services. It is a large hotel with 11 floors, a nightclub called Sky Lounge is on the top so it is worth avoiding rooms on Floors 10 and 11 because of noise. I was situated on the 5th floor, the most noise I appeared to get was slightly from the corridor and outside, which got worse at peak times, especially in the early morning where I was woken up at about 9 am through loud banging and sirens (despite the windows being shut), with my room is situated near the cupboard which I presume the cleaners use. The hotel is actually quite confusing to get in, the signposted entrance is actually through the Lobby Bar, but you can also enter at the top through revolving doors, or through Starbucks (one of their cheaper branches in the city) at the bottom of approaching the hotel from Central Station. On check-in, after waiting considerably longer than I'm used to, to check in I was greeted with a warm cookie, this is a nice gesture but sadly I couldn't eat it as it contained gluten. The staff were really friendly and complaint handling was good. There were some policies which made my stay start off on a negative note: - A deposit of 100 euros was required on check-in, in cash or on a credit card, this was really annoying and frustrating considering my mini-bar wasn't even loaded, and they have my card details on file anyway - I struggle to understand what the charge is for! - Breakfast would be charged at around 26 euros per day unless I booked in advance straight away, then I'd have to pay 20. As hotel breakfasts can be pretty much hit and miss for me, I ended up opting for the latter. I'm glad I did as the breakfast was woeful in all regards: quality, service and selection. The hotel did try to fix the situation by offering me the chance to come back but the food was still awful, and only the service improved! There is a large Starbucks in the hotel which has its own wifi, to go alongside the Hilton wifi which disconnects every 24 hours for you to reconnect again, I don't understand the need for this. It's inconvenient. My room was quite nice and spacious, the bed was quite comfy, however, I didn't like the duvet (comforter in American English) as I didn't like the material, but it was typical of most European hotels. Another issue with my hotel room was the TV, the main problem is there wasn't one as the iMac in the room doubled up as both, while I find it amazing, cool and modern to have an iMac in the room, I found it a bit disappointing not to have a television as well, meaning it was hard to see from my bed, with the desk it was located on being at an angle, however, the view in front of me was nice considering it was made up of glass windows with curtains. I also liked how the hotel had so many plug sockets, with 2 at the desk, 2 bedsides and a good couple more dotted around the room. The room has hot drink making facilities with take-out cups. I also found the service at the hotel to be excellent - when a problem arose such as needing help with an iMac after an update, needing new pillows, essentials for the room and the time I stupidly couldn't find the keyboard and mouse for the iMac (which was right in front of me), they seemed to come up really quickly. The hotel also has 4 lifts - they were spacious and fast. The hotel is slightly pricey too, but with the Central locations close to most of Amsterdam's attractions and Central Station (tram, bus, train, ferry, metro) this has to be expected. Cleanliness of the hotel could also be improved - some marks remained before and after housekeeping visited so the cleaning of the room should be more thorough. Essentials such as mouthwash and toilet paper weren't replaced! My main issues with this hotel were: - The wifi was slow at peak times and I had to log in every 24 hours. - €100 hold deposit - Do they not trust me? - Breakfast (as explained) - There was a lack of English TV channels in the room, meaning I had to keep going from my bed to the iMac to connect it to my SkyGO. - Decor in the lobby is old and out-dated. Sadly due to Yelp's character limits, I couldn't write more (I had to delete a lot of content to add more!) but this hotel is worthy of a four-star rating despite many flaws. read more

We loved the DoubleTree in Amsterdam. I'll cut to the chase and I'd for sure stay here again. The staff was very friendly and spoke in perfect English. The room was spacious and well kept. Highly recommended! Exceptional customer service, concierges, complimentary SPA water, free print station, apples and warm cookies at check-in! Awesome views from the sky bar..drinks are pricey if you compare it to European prices (where beer is cheaper than sparkling water) but I'm used to SF so it's the norm. Great location..walking distance from central station, all the shops, downtown and the river tours/tourist center..(although you can just walk anywhere from here). From all the hotels we stayed at during our three week Europe trip, this hotel was hands down the best!!! read more

A big and busy yet expensive hotel in town. It's conveniently located but the rooms are small for the money you pay. I expect a bit more in a hotel charging over €300 a night. The room was nice enough but barely any space either side of the bed. The closet was tiny and so was the hallway in the apartment. The bed was comfortable enough and I had a small outside area to the room which I did not use. Staff are friendly and helpful but busy most of the time as it's busy hotel. I stayed here because of an event but I would probably not choose it given the other choices in town for similar money. It's just a stones throw from the main train station. I will probably end up staying here again as we seem to use this place a lot as a company. read more

Centrally located, easy access from train station. Overall great location and accommodation, review would be higher but I was extremely disappointed by the policy re early check in. Beware this is punitive and aggressively priced. We arrived after 12 noon during a rain downpour. We inquired as to whether our room might be ready (if not no issue or rush), it was but early check in would be 70euros???? For a room we booked that was already cleaned and available. I can understand if the room was not available or if I was asking them to rush the turnover from another customer, but it was available.... I have stayed at many, many hiltons, including this one previously. I felt this was horrible customer service (not from the staff, but corporate policy). Very disappointed! read more

Is there a way to give 5+ star rating? This hotel was hands down my favorite hotel that I have ever been to. From the check in, to the room, to the view, to the comfort, to the food, to the more food , and to the friendly service. The cleanliness of this hotel even in the lobby bathroom, was hands down the cleanest I've ever seen. The breakfast was a feast for royalty. They had everything from traditional eggs and bacon to English beans and toast. They had 8 different loaves of bread, several different Brötchen types, croissants and other pastry selections. There was smoked salmon, regular salmon, mackerel, other sushi rolls, miso soup (yes for breakfast). Fresh squeezed orange juice, tomato juice, apple, grapefruit, cranberry and more. Champagne? They've got you! And service with a smile! This hotel was THE BEST!!!! read more

I didn't find the room particularly inspiring. Furniture was old and stained as was the carpets and there were marks on the wall. However, there are so many pluses to this hotel that it kind of overrides the negatives. Firstly, the location is steps from Central Station and several canal boat operators. There is also a nice-sized grocery store nearby and a library. The food in the hotel restaurant was fantastic! The breakfast buffet was HUGE with a large assortment of any kind of breakfast item you could want. The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to offer exceptional service. This is a really tough review to write as this was a mixed bag. On one hand I really liked this hotel, on the other some of the amenities were just not up to par. We got upgraded to a Jr Suite and had a spectacular view of Amsterdam. The hotel was very modern but the bathroom was tiny and had some issues with the shower. Also the TVs were Apple Computers. It was hard to control and would just reboot on its own while you were watching. We did have access to the executive lounge and it is always nice to have that option. The only drawback is the location and size. It's very awkward to get into and everything is jammed together. Just another little thing that adds up. Location is great. Only a few blocks away from central station. Close to everything. Overall it was an ok experience. read more

On a positive note, the rooms are modern, clean and what you'd typically expect from a Hilton property. The lobby area is vast, with multiple eateries and a nice lobby bar. It is just a short walk to the oldest part of Amsterdam and its web of narrow lanes and canals. Because of the size of the hotel though, you can expect the typical long wait to check in and check out during prime hours. Also, the hotel names itself "Centraal Station", and I suppose it is adjacent to the station.....but it was a long walk over cobbles, bike lanes, across a busy street, and then the lobby is at the far end of the hotel. While other hotels may not list themselves as a Centraal Station, they might actually be no further and a better rate. read more

I have stayed at hotels all over the world and my go to Hotels are Hilton or anything that falls under the Hilton brand. I decided to book this stay at the DoubleTree and it was a just okay hotel. The location of this hotel is what makes it even better. The rooms here are the plainest rooms I have ever seen. Also when I checked in they said, "oh were giving you an upgrade!" But when I looked at my original reservation it was exactly what I had booked. The rooms have nothing really in them. Just white walls. Also, they smell kinda bad. I called downstairs about them and they did nothing about it. The breakfast at this hotel is wonderful. It is a giant buffet and you can get made to order eggs and other stuff. Overall a great hotel for location, a bad hotel for the price. Won't be staying here again! read more

Great hotel. We decided to stay in the city this time and chose this hotel. It was a short walk from the central station and easily accessible to my stores and restaurant. The check in was very smooth and they gave us complimentary breakfast and the executive lounge access. Our room wasn't very big, but the view was great. They use apple as a tv and computer which was very cool. The executive lounge was good. There were foods and drinks that you can choose from. Breakfast was great. They have everything you can think of: sushi, waffles, breads, oatmeal, hot items, etc. You can also order eggs and pancakes. I ordered omelette which was one of the best omelette I've had at the hotel. The service was good, and the staff was very friendly. I will definitely be coming back here. read more
