checked in here as part of a work training, and it was pre-booked for us. it was my first time in alabama, and my first time staying at a doubletree by hilton. in the end, it was a really nice experience for just a two-night stay. check-in was very easy, and i loved that they give you a cookie upon arrival; it's the little things that make a brand feel more welcoming. i also really liked my room and how comfortable everything felt. the breakfast in the morning was a bit limited in options for my taste, but i didn't mind too much since it was comped by the company. i was a little confused about how complimentary ticket system worked though, since no one took my ticket the first day, but they did the second day. they also conveniently have a small market in the lobby with essentials in case you forgot something, along with some quick dinner options and drinks. there's also a microwave available, which makes it easy to heat something up if needed. the staff was very nice and friendly for the duration of my stay. there's a bunch of restaurants in the surrounding area, making it easy to walk over or doordash if that's your preference. i didn't use any of the amenities, so i can't speak to any of those but overall, for a straightforward stay, it was comfortable and easy which made my first visit to alabama a pleasant one. read more

this place is a joke, you pay overpriced room then you get to pay for parking they want $50 a day for incidentals when you're staying for two weeks that's a whole of money tied up then don't even think about a continental breakfast because I promise you you get to pay for that too. This Doubletree was nice. Not terrible and seems newly remodeled. I checked via the Hilton app so getting into my room was a breeze. The room was fairly clean and I loved the super soft pillows. The bathroom had nice tiles. Reminiscent of a resort shower. My only negative experience was the run was warm although the AC ran the entire time. read more

Here for a baseball tournament. Hotel is EXTREMELY low quality for a Double tree. Staff has no idea what they are doing. Clearly poor management. Workout room was 90 degrees at least. Front desk could've cared less. Asked how to turn on AC in there and she just shrugged and said she didn't know. Made no effort to call maintenance even after I made that recommendation. Trash in the hallways left daily. Water Leaks in the lobby ceiling. Asked for different pillows due to being allergy to down pillows. Those never showed up.... Staff technically are not jerks but just had no idea what they were doing nor were they willing to make an effort. Most of the ice machines are broken. Broken elevator. Do not recommend. read more

One could think and not assume proper training of employees are not regularly checked by anyone. Do they still have vacuums after a week. The few times that I've stayed here recently has certainly been a very hospitable and CLEAN experience. The ladies at the front desk are very personable and really make you feel like you're home. Location is within proximity of several restaurants and less than 1/2 mile from The Summit. The pool has been closed during my stays, but the fitness center is open. There's also an Amazon locker located inside for you Amazon junkies like myself :). Oh! And the cookies are still served fresh and warm. read more

Ugh, so annoying. Room: Cleanliness was great. No complaints. The AIR was another story. If you had it on fan on all the time it was okay because you couldn't hear the random water and flushing noises all the time. Regardless of other guests, there was a constant running of water across the ceiling of our room. When there were guests above us - if they flushed the toilet - we heard it. And anything else they did. I was the most annoyed that the pool was gross, green, and closed, and no plans to make this better. No notification when we booked the room the pool would not be available. And hotel staff said they don't plan on fixing it but won't report it so they get the booking incomes. NICE.. read more

Oh my god is this place hot. Full disclosure, I'm very hot blooded. But this place doesn't let you control your own AC. It lets you set a central control to "65" but I'm having serious doubts considering I can't even begin to imagine putting blankets on, feels like 72. Miserable temp experience I haven't experienced in any other hotel. I will say if having a cold room isn't a big deal to you, this place is otherwise nice and staff are pleasant. 4 star hotel but deserves 1 star. I can only speak on my experiences, but it was a nightmare during my stay for my business trip. My room smelled of chlorine. There were no other king bedrooms available to be transferred to. There was not a do not disturb sign on my room so before I can go down to get one. An "engineer" walked right in. The cable tv connection was so poor it made watching television unwatchable, make sure to bring your own resources if you want to watch anything at the end of your night. I was only given one towel for my entire stay. The housekeepers are extremely loud outside of the room in the morning. There's no reason any one staying should fear housekeeping barging in on them but I did. It makes for an unpleasant stay. I was charged for my breakfast and then the host came back again asking to ring me up after charging me and taking my card 5 minutes before. I literally just handed her my card and paid, and she came back around asking me to pay again because she forgot she already rang me up...wtf. I didn't think it would get worse but it did. I picked the doubletree thinking it would be a nice stay but I've stayed at better 3 star hotels. I won't be revisiting this place in the future. read more

Hello Hilton @ Doubl Tree Perimeter Park, Ref: Reservation Oct. 6-9 2022. I cannot begin to fully describe my disappointment with Hilton Doubletree Perimeter Park Birmingham, Alabama. I have used this Hilton 3 times in the past 5 yrs and all three times I felt as if I was staying in a Motel 6. The front desk attendants, while friendly were very limited in their knowledge of how things worked at the hotel and they dressed in very casual personal street clothing unbefitting of a Hilton. Also I called 3 times to confirm a roll-a-way bed would be placed in my room, but when I arrived I was told they had no roll-a-way beds at all. WT? My rooms on all 3 occasions were a disappointment due to the loud air conditioner unit, the mattress was sagging, the bathroom sink drained VERY slowly (reported on all 3 occasions), there was no printed information in the room for local restaurants and there was no writing paper or pens in the room. Also I find it incredibly disappointing that the lobby bar would close at 10 pm on Friday and Saturday nights. The mediocre breakfast that used to be included in the $250 room price is now $20 per person. Handicapped automatic doors did not function properly......or not at all. The patio & front door areas were not swept clean each morning of cigarette butts, nor were the over-filling ash trays emptied & cleaned daily. On and on it goes. This is a Hilton Hotel ?? Sadly, I've seen better run and taken care of Motel 6's. Over all I give this Hilton one star....but for $250/night it should get no stars, but this was not a option on the website review page. I stayed at this property one night and bring the perspective of diamond member. My overall experience was very good and seamless. While many doubletree properties are older and sometimes unpredictable, this is not the case with DT P.Park. My room was very clean and recently refurbished (this includes updated shower stall). Breakfast was also very good and the server was friendly and attentive. There's also plenty of restaurants within a short driving distance (but you can walk across parking lot to upscale Perry's Steakhouse). So why not 5-stars? I had no negative experiences but 5 is reserved for the truly exceptional properties. read more

Let's be honest - there's usually something to find about a hotel that rubs you the wrong way or you wish would be different. And maybe there were a few things here on my one night stay that fell into that category, but I didn't recognize them. Perhaps that's because from the moment I walked into the door to the moment I left the next morning, the service was outstanding. I legit felt like a family member of both the person who checked me in and checked me out. The rooms themselves are great and spacious, and the feel of the place is new with a mix of modern and business. The ambiance, if you will, is solid, and the scenery surrounding is nice as well. I've stayed here were for work, so I don't have any monetary value tied to my opinion, and even with that, this was a horrible hotel. I'm just going to list everything that went wrong - One night my team and I came back to the hotel and the entire lobby was full of smoke. We walk in and looked around and no one from the host desks acknowledged the smoke or the burning smell. I had to ask and was told a grease trap in the kitchen caught on fire. - My bathroom sink was clogged, would fill with water and took all night to drain. It also had a slow leak that pooled under the "vanity" - which isn't a real vanity, it's just shelves with the pipes exposed. Also, the hot water was always iffy - some mornings it would work but afternoons it never got hot. I had to wash my face in cold water or use the showers hot water. - No hair dryer. Really - I looked everywhere for one. The shower is awkward as well because it was a shower/tub and the bottom looked gross. - The breakfast is very expensive for basic hotel food and absolutely the WORST coffee I have ever had. I got some oatmeal, fruit, and a biscuit and was charged 20 dollars. It's actually really confusing what's the 15 dollar breakfast and what's the 20 dollar one. Either one is too expensive for what you get. - I can't not stress how HORRIBLE the coffee is. It is not drinkable. I threw my out in the garden on my walk to Edgers. It tastes like they have never cleaned the coffee machine and let it burn at least once a week. It's astoundingly bad. - Before my stay I had called to cancel my first night and stay one extra night at the end due to some plan changes. They said they couldn't do that for me and transferred me to corporate, but really just hung up on me. - I was charged that night I tried to cancel and the extra night and they told me it wasn't in their system when I called for a refund. I had to dispute it with my credit card company because they kept "transferring" me to corp and just hanging up. The only good thing about the hotel is it is walking distance to much better food and coffee. It's probably walking distance to a better hotel. read more

QUIET, SPACIOUS AND CLEAN I stayed here for one night (2.10.19 to 2.11.19) to go to a burlesque show. This hotel is quietly tucked away next to a steakhouse. As soon as I walked in, I noticed that it was very clean and and inviting. The staff was extremely professional and welcoming, especially Leonard at the front desk. I arrived that night and left the next morning, so I wasn't able to take advantage of all the amenities, but if you do have time, they have a posh bar in the lobby area. If I go back to Birmingham, I'll definitely stay here again! The room was clean and very spacious (pictures attached) Don't forget to get a free fresh baked cookie :) read more

Update: After that initial day things got better. The breakfast was good and the kitchen staff were AMAZING and extremely nice and helpful. My only gripe is that I physically saw one a guy cook making himself some pancakes on the grill. Yet pancakes or waffles weren't available for guests none of the days we were there. We noticed that our room was extremely humid and hot all the time. Even with the ac on allllllll day. Which was was very noisy btw. We asked to be moved to a different room and they placed us in a much larger room right next to the ice machine room. Funny because I specifically asked for a larger room initially. Yet we were placed in a smaller, hotter, stuffier room at the end of the hall. Tough with two tiny kids. The new room was much better but the bathroom reeked of old urine and mildew. Looked clean though. So we had to buy microban aerosol spray and Clorox wipes. I sprayed the ENTIRE bathroom floor to ceiling. Creases and crevices before going out for the day. It helped the smell tremendously. Thats how i know it was mildew/mold. The carpet was very badly stained. There was some type of food splatter on the ceiling of all places. The bed bumpers were stained with suspicious "oily" substance. We caught a flat tire from a nail in the parking lot. The pool was closed. Options from the pantry were slim. The last four days of our trip did get better from the first; but we would not stay here again. Original: Worst fkn hotel ever! We used to live off of 280 when we lived in Birmingham. Surely we assumed this DOUBLETREE would be a great place to stay and lay our heads while visiting back home. No! Upon check-in the front desk guy was nice and welcoming. But the service itself is hell. We asked for an early check in because we had flown OVERNIGHT and been up with two infants all night. We were suppose to have two cribs in our room. There were none. We had to call several times to get them brought up! The idiot who was supposed to bring them had placed "completed" on the order for the cribs but had not brought them up. So basically she lied. We called a third time and some guy who spoke ZERO english came up. He only brought us one pack n play. We tried to tell him we needed two of them and linen to go inside he said "I dont speak English" and walked off. We called the front desk and asked them to send someone who could understand English. He said "Oh yeah none of them speak English." Then he said he would have them send another one. He called back shortly and told us that the other one is broken. We decide to put together the one they did bring us....what do you know?...ITS BROKEN TOO! So now our two infants have NOWHERE to sleep!! They send maintenance to come and try and fix it. Nothing. What in the actual hell is going on here?? This is gonna be the worst next four days. This is our first time bringing our kids back home to meet their grandparents. But this is turning out to be a headache. And we just gahdamn got here! We were trying to nap for at least a few hours but thats not going to happen. Apparently the general manager said she was going to go and purchase some. But now we have to wait up even longer for that! My thing is, if you already knew that you had only two left and one was broken...why not go and buy more anyway? Why wait until someone checks in and complains? WHICH BY THE WAY... I HAD BEEN CALLING FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS asking for an early check in and two cribs for my our room when we arrive. For them to have the DoubleTree name, charge $18 per person for breakfast and hold $200 on your card for incidentals... THEY NEED TO HAVE BETTER QUALITY SERVICE THAN THIS! Post-Covid, staying in a hotel is a strange and surreal experience, but this one made it as pleasant as it could be considering the circumstances. It's in an industrial park and felt very safe. It's within a super short walking distance of 4 restaurants, one of which is a steakhouse right next to the hotel. The only service happening now is coffee in the morning- I was kind of wishing for an offer of a granola bar or something at check in. The bar is open from 5-10, and I had a couple of drinks and a good experience there. Hand sanitizer is everywhere, signs regarding distancing and mask wearing are posted all over as well. Front desk employees were courteous and friendly. The room felt clean and I appreciated the extra sanitizing efforts. The bath products were also nice, I love the smell of lavender. Also- ladies - my favorite thing of all - a ledge in the shower to prop your foot for leg shaving!!! Yay! Would definitely stay again. read more

The most run down, dirty Doubletree I've ever been in. Hallways are dim and dirty, wallpaper is bubbling up. Shower floor was old, damaged and had soap scum around the edges. So disappointing especially for the price. Picking up some flip flops for the shower. read more

I'm so very upset. I stay here every time I have test at the Grandview Hospital. Never, Never , Never have a had a problem. Well I go to the hospital for my heart. Go up to 7 floor with luggage "toilet run"and won't stop. Go back down carrying heavy luggage. Go back up to 7 floor and the room was non't clean. Back down with heavy luggage. Take all luggage back and got to another room. Fine. Only want air on because hot. Want stay on, it set on 66. Eat Philly Steak and was delicious for lunch as always. And more than half of the TV channels didn't work!! Supper tonight was horrible. Special fish/rice/ asparagus. Fish was cooked so hard it was a sole of the shoe. Like the pillow here they are so soft and you just melt in them. I ordered four "4" king and love them. The pillows in my room are hats and you DO NOT melt in them. This was just a horrible 3 days away from my husband and 2 grandchildren that live next door. read more

Arguably the best hotel in Birmingham for travel and leisure. Not only did Rubbie let me check-in early, but he was able to switch me from a queen room to a king! I've asked to switch over a dozen times, but it was never available and I'm used to sleeping in a king bed at home which makes being away for a week that much tolerable. The room was amazing (as usual) and Reggie, Audry, Jessica and Laurie-Beth always take care of me on my monthly work trips! Southern hospitality at its finest. The moment I walked in was greeted by the lady at the front desk. Check-in was a breeze and we were set-up with keys to get up to the room immediately. Parking was free, so that was nice, too. Looked like a really uppity business park area. Also, there was a restaurant and across the way (off property). Want to grab a drink during your stay? There's quite a nice lobby bar with a cozy lounge. You'll love it and can even entertain guests there. The property looked fairly large, with hallways going on for days. Plus it was decorated for the holidays, which gave it that extra cheery feel. I love staying in hotels during the holidays. Our hotel room was a lovely double bed room that was super clean and simply perfect for our one-night stay. In the morning, coffee was complimentary and they were so kind as to give me a box of cereal for my daughter. All I needed was hot water for my oatmeal in addition to coffee, so I was set. I opted for the 1000 points rather than having the breakfast buffet, since we're not really interested in those anyway. Check-out of course was easy as well. read more

I had bed bugs in my room at this hotel (confirmed by the manager who saw one on the bed). They then moved me to another room for my final night and it was the exact same room on the floor below. They should have quarantined that room and the neighboring rooms to the one with bed bugs. Since I was right below the room that had bed bugs, I heard voices and footsteps in that room. It could have been exterminators but they were in there all night and it sounded like they just put someone else in that room. Then to top it off, they were supposed to give me 20,000 hilton honors points for the inconvenience (they offered without me asking) but they never gave me the points. I had to send several emails to corporate to get what was promised. This was a nightmare trip. read more

I scored a great nightly rate using Hotels.com and I wasn't expecting it to be "that nice." Boy was I wrong! This might be a hidden gem in Birmingham, with its convenient location (about 15 minutes or less from anywhere I wanted to be) and its super-nice rooms. The front desk staff were almost TOO friendly. I mean, I'm too young to be called "Ma'am" but they just wouldn't stop! Gotta love those Double Tree cookies though! The hotel "gym" is really tiny, so don't count on getting your workout. And I wish there were a hot tub. But, despite those small things, this place was excellent. The bed was comfortable and the service/staff were great. Booked handicap accessible but was told none were available. It was myself and my adult son. We were offered a room with one bed and a sofa that folds out to bed? Or he said we could have a king room. When I complained the pathetic jerk at the check in desk, smugly said well he offered us a king room!! Apparently he sleeps with his mama, but my son doesn't. I was so angry and disgusted with this cruel bastard. My son is an amputee. They also do not serve continental breakfast. They charge $18.00 a person for breakfast. You will want to choose another location until this one corrects the serious issues with housekeeping. Hair on the bed in the first room. No replenishment of toiletries or towels. Day 3 medications were stolen from my suitcase. This was the worst I have ever been treated by any Hilton hotel. The General Manager was disrespectful when I brought to his attention that someone in his housekeeping staff stole medications from my suitcase. The Executive Housekeeper took a photo of my room. They show one of my bags lying on the bed yet when I arrived my unmade bed had nothing on it. I had to call the police to get a resolution and an apology. No respect and terrible customer service are not ways I expect to be treated on any Hilton property. This issue will continue to be addressed with a second call to the corporate office. read more
