My experience at the DoubleTree Syracuse started off great and then slipped a bit. On the positive side, Sammy at the front desk was extremely kind. He greeted me warmly, gave me water, and even extra cookies. That first impression was exactly what I expect from Hilton--hospitality all the way. After that, things went downhill. I was given a room with two double beds instead of a king. I'm 6'4", and I simply couldn't fit comfortably in the double bed. I went back downstairs to ask for a king, but by that time (around 9 p.m.) they said they didn't have any available. That was disappointing, especially for a brand like Hilton. On top of that, finding ice was more complicated than it needed to be. The ice machines are only on the second floor, which isn't the end of the world but is inconvenient when you're tired and just trying to settle in. read more

Was not greeted or treated professionally. Hilton Honors desk did not recognize any of my status. I asked if water was in the room - he handed me two bottles of water without a bag. I had two bags and dinner already in my hands. Just not good representation for Hilton and didn't present any professional customer service language in any manner. Room seems nice. Nice people at the front desk give out free cookies and water bottles. Reduced drinks and small plates at happy hour in the lobby daily. Beds are comfy. The down side. The chairs and sofas in the lobby are in dire need of replacement. I sank into the sofa so far I could barely stand up. The chairs are way too deep. They look cool but are sized for the NBA. The TV is sketchy. The picture goes in and out on a minute by minute basis. When the hotel is full, the hot water is barely warm but it recovers quickly. We thought we would be here for 3 nights and due to circumstances beyond our control wound up here for a week. I would stay here again based on price and location, but be aware of the above. read more

A very nice hotel with a swimming pool and hot tub. It was very clean and also included a small size gym. Swim towels are plenty and provided. The highlight of the stay was Sami at the front desk who greets everyone with a smile, and a friendly and inviting attitude. Sami went out of his way to be helpful at every turn. He always made time for my needs and it made my stay so comfortable. The rooms are a good size with everything that you need, hallways are tidy and what I personally like about it is that it's very quiet. There seems to be ample security presence which made me feel safe and there is also a bar and restaurant. If I could provide any feedback: I wish the blankets were actually blankets as they seem like thin sheets doubled up. I think it's worth the investment to get good comforters as I found myself cold at night. I would also suggest fully cleaning all the glass doors as the glass doors leading to the small balcony could use a wipe down. Other than this, everything was clean, tidy, lots of amenities, a really huge and inviting lobby with fireplace, plenty of couches, great lighting, and friendly feeling when you enter. They also provide cookies and bottles of water at the front desk, which is a really nice touch. read more

This DoubleTree is an excellent full service hotel. Free parking with limited Diamond parking near the front. The hotel is big and easy to get lost in. I was upgrade to a suite which was exceptional. They could still use some updating, but the property is still very well managed. The staff is very friendly. No housekeeping on short visits unless requested. My bed was very comfortable. The tub/shower was nice as they gave me a hand held sprayer. Free and fast internet. The breakfast buffet is $16.95 and has good food included. The lounge had several nice craft beers on draft. Their food was also very good. Pizza and wings were excellent. They have a nice courtyard area between the guest rooms and the pool/fitness area. The fitness room was very nice. read more

This is a very nice hotel, but two of its employees put my guest experience over the top! Melissa, at the front desk, gave a warm and friendly greeting. She was very quick in assigning my room and providing my Hilton Honors amenities. During my stay I interacted with her several times. Consistently, she was delightful and helpful. Then there was Kim, my Server, at the Seasons Tavern (the hotel's restaurant). She made me and every guest feel SPECIAL. The Food was so good and the Kim's Service was so superb, I dined at the hotel's restaurant every night of my stay. read more

I asked that the GM call me but no call 12 hours later and my bill reflects no discount whatsoever. Below anyone's standards, but I expect better from Hilton, particularly as a Gold member. Pool that was advertised with the hotel was "closed for maintenance", probably closed since Covid and won't update their hotel info or reinstate pool service. Guest laundry for this hotel is one barely functioning washer and a less functioning dryer with an out of order unit sitting next to it. I ran my clothes in the dryer and after one full cycle were still wet. Thanks to the poorly functioning equipment I left my clothes at the hotel and have to pay an exorbitant amount of money to get my stuff back. Also this hotel had one functioning guest elevator that operates on beach time. the second elevator is, you guessed it, out of service! This hotel was absolutely fantastic, and I really don't have enough good things to say!! First impression: the lobby is not only aesthetically pleasing, but absolutely pristine. Someone takes a LOT of pride in that area! The first person I encountered was Tom. He just seemed like a genuine happy person. I know full well how draining dealing with the public can be! But he was cordial and helpful. Marissa handled check in. We were able to get into our room early, and she inquired as to our plans for the evening, very pleasant and extremely welcoming. One star. And why? Because I was waiting for the hotel van for aprox 55 minutes to arrive to the airport. After calling the front desk to set it up Melissa told me 15 minutes- 30 minutes later when I called, it seems another 5 minutes got added to that. Ok finally decided to wait it out and after a whopping 50 minutes was able to get in the van- mind you it was waiting for a prearranged time for a crew. I understand you wouldn't want make two trips but instead of making someone wait out in the cold for 55 minutes why not just say- hey we are picking up approx at this time for a pre arrangement. Instead I get spun around. The van the driver Jim chuckled when I asked him what the delay was and said only 50 minutes? I tried to ask the front desk Melissa if this was a regular occurrence and she became defensive giving me time stamps that do not match up to my phones records and basically called me a liar saying it only took 20 minutes- meanwhile how do I account the other 30 I spent there sitting? Not sure if I even wanted to give 3 stars to be honest! This was horrible the shampoo wasn't filled I pumped n pumped n pumped and eventually put water in to get something out. The ice machine was filthy I was afraid to touch it. The tables in my room were dirty I cleaned them. The bathroom only had 2 towels I had to get more. There was white substance on my bed no clue what.The breakfast was nothing to brag about ! Very disappointed wish they had event elsewhere. The staff was friendly tho. Stayed here for a family wedding in Syracuse. The room are fairly basic but ok. We could only get a double bed room as all king bed rooms were sold out. The room is crammed with limited space. The bathroom are ok if a bit dated. The food in the restaurant is very high on fat content. The eggs are swimming in oil. One evening we had calamari and wings and again the dishes were buried in oil. The internet is very slow and the connection drop all the time even when you pay for it. At 7:30 am they have workers on the roof making so much noise your room is shaking. Someone is drilling! No warning when you check in. After driving through the rain for 7 hours you'd like a good nights sleep. We packed up and left by 8:30 am because it was so unsettling. Don't stay here. A bit dated...the carpet in all floors looks like needs to be replaced. The Rooms are of good size and the beds are comfortable. The gym has 3 elliptics, 3 treadmills, two weight benches, etc..good size ...the pool is ample and clean too. The breakfast buffet is OK...it has scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, muffins, etc...the omelette station seems to be understaffed... twice I went and they had to get the cook from the back.... I am so very disappointed in my stay here. I had won a free night stay and from the moment of trying to book my stay all the way to the check out process, it seems as though this institution has crossed its wires somewhere. It took me three separate attempts to be able to book my stay and no less than the same number of messages left to finally get someone who was willing to work with me to honor the gift certificate that they had initially issued. When I get here, the person at the front desk was extremely annoyed at having to deal with my certificate. She says under her breath "god it must be my lucky day that I have to deal with this stuff." When I asked if there was a problem, she states that she has no idea how to handle the gift certificate. I tried to laugh it off and just enjoy my stay. I gave the required credit card and license needed to check in and went on my way. Unfortunately, the disgruntled front desk clerk did not save said credit card information as I found out when the in house restaurant (another less than desirable experience) decided to call my room at 10:00 PM. I made it very clear when I checked in that it was myself and my four minor children, we were the ones who ate in the restaurant, but these "professionals" seemed to think that calling a room with four minor children at 10pm was appropriate. I was not impressed. I told the clerk both at the front desk and in the restaurant that I will settle the bill in the morning. Very disappointing. But let's talk about the facilities...not good. One star may be even a little high. I understand this is the off season, but I'm not sure what happened to this place. It was just recently renovated and looked beautiful this summer at the event I attended. This stay, however, in the room I stayed in, had a dirty/stained toilet, some other patron's name badge plastered to the wall, hair and grime left in the tub and make-up stains on the mirror. The towels had also not been replaced from the previous occupant. Overall, it was just not ready for another use. Then of course the hot tub in the pool area was not working and just so everyone is aware, I guess the pool is actually salt water. That was news to me and honestly a very big turn off. I wish I had known before I got in. So the state of the room, the unfriendliness of the front desk staff, the unwelcome feeling of the Season's Tavern staff members and all of their antics (please read that review too), along with the facilities just not working, I sort of just wish I didn't choose this place to bring the kids for our little mini vacation. I will say I am glad to have had this experience myself, though, so I did not inadvertently have family use this facility when they come up to visit me. I live local to this hotel and family is out of town. I will be choosing a different local to recommend to visiting friends and family. This place just failed in every sense of the word. read more

Over the years we've come to expect a level of quality and consistency from chain establishments, hotels among them. Our recent stay was really a disappointment. We, along with more than 30+ guests were in town for a family wedding. So, this is why I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL: 1. Originsl reservation was made many months ago at behest of hotel. They would not block more than 10 rooms at a clip. Gave us the WRONG RATE INITIALLY Told us to "call back again soon" to see if another block had been opened. Terrible service 2. current nights rate was $25-$30 LOWER than the "special" guest rate. I know because I checked and called. Was told that this was the rate that was negotiated a year ago. Complete rip off 3. When we checked in, I asked if the guests were all on the same floor. I was assured "oh yes, we tried our best to keep everyone together". My husband and I were the only ones not with the family. A lie 4. Upon entering the 2nd floor room, it was hot and musty. The drapes were partly drawn and the air was stale. We followed directions to lower cool air temp and unpacked. (Wait, I will come back to this) 5. Pools indoors/outdoors... great NOT. Not enough lounge chairs, NO towels, hot tub not working. (Pool was clean). However towel issue was handled and hotel staff was quite accommodating once the fresh towels had come up from laundry. 6. Returned to room... still Hot. Stuck at 74 muggy degrees... took showers in a warm and now humid room. Before our dinner engagement asked front desk to place a maintenance call to the room. Left for evening 7. After a very pleasant dinner off property, we returned to hotel for a nite cap. Drinks Friday nite. Nothing too difficult. Vodka/rocks. Titos n tonic. Socialized. Paid bill. Back to our 2nd floor room. 8. And..... still a warm room... fan going incessantly. Temp hovering at 70.... but still humid. 9. Could not get extra towels 10. No coffee available. Had to wait over an hour... still no coffee 11. Post wedding we returned to an after party organized by bride... same drinks... different prices and overcharged!!! Took a while to realize this as other guests were remarking about different prices for same drinks... NOT A HAPPY HOUR SPECIAL BtW So, even considering we had a great family wedding, I am extremely dissatisfied. Oh and epic fail #12 On checkout, front desk did not ask how our stay was... $300+ and no one gave a darn ... so we briefly expressed our displeasure at the bar prices. Response was patronizingly bland. "Oh I am sorry. I will tell the manager." Sure you will..... There are 3 other hotels very close by. If you cannot book one of them, sleep in the car or a field. read more

Staff get an A+. Hotel Grounds get a C- when it comes to the small details. Entering the rear doors of the hotel means occupied spider webs with very large bitters inside of it. Spider webs in hall way corners, handing from the light fixtures near doors. My room was clean to what I expect from a Hilton Brand and Tier level of Double Tree, but the property needs a thorough walk thru to get all the details right if not this should not be a Hilton property. Most of the Doubletrees I stay in can't get less than 5 stars because they are impeccably kept up. read more

I'm in hotels a lot - I think so far this year I've had 40 different stays at Hilton properties all around the country! I'm a Hilton Diamond member, so my experiences are pretty standard. This hotel was nicer than expected which was nice (and considering the construction going on currently)! Comfy bed (as standard at DoubleTrees), and cushy pillows. I was at the property for probably 8 hours max (in and out to just sleep), and didn't get a chance to use any of the facilities, and didn't have time for breakfast, but my interactions with the staff were pleasant, and my room was clean. At the end of the day, good water pressure for my shower and uninterrupted sleep are all highlights! Will definitely stay here again when in the area next! read more

I love staying at Double Tree hotels and do very often. This visit was out of the ordinary. At 8am we were woken up by housekeeping banging on the door telling us we needed to be checked out. We were driving from Southern California so we had a 3 hour time difference. I called down to the front desk and asked why we were woken up and was hung up on. The manager Greg, who was the one that hung up on me did call back but his customer service was anything but proper. As a solo business traveler I've stayed here 4 times. I don't know why I've given them so many chances. Each time I have stayed the customer service was not knowledgeable about issues I had or about why for instance my reservation as HHonors member was not saved accurately in their system. I was twice given a two double beds room on a lower floor near an elevator (and my Hilton h profile says I prefer away from elevator) instead of a king or queen room which I had reserved in my initial reservation. when I asked upon check in I was told that they were "sold out". It was Tues and Wednesday so I'm a little doubtful. one time I stayed they totally forgot my wake up call AND My breakfast room service ordered the night before. two stars for being a good clean functional hotel. that is seriously about it. read more

I usually end up staying there when in Syracuse since it's not too far from the airport and you have a few restaurants nearby. The minuses: a bit old and renovations seem to be going on little by little; The rooms don't appear that clean. Difficult to find, Google maps put me two miles out but within eye shot. A few intuitive turns and I was there! They were under rennovations when I stayed there on Jan 10 of 2013, this is unfortunately 1 star off for me only because they did not warn me when I made reservations over the phone. Other than the 'under construction' areas the hotel was in mediocre condition and showed signs of wear and tear on the rugs due to salt/snow. The room was in great condition compared to the walk ways. I really enjoyed the view from my room and it was really simple to navigate the television system. The shower was ok, it was not dirty by any definition of the word but it just had that 'soap scum, hasn't been deep cleaned in a while' feel too it. The bar was in good condition and had an excellent set of beers in it. The only other star the hotel lost was due to the 1130 pm closing time of the restaurant. "The restaurant is closed, isn't it?" "Yes" "Well then, get me a Guiness and a bowl of your finest pub mixed nuts." All in all, it was a good hotel. Given the opportunity to stay here for a future visit I would stay again, get in sooner, and have it not be winter as the pool looked pretty awesome. read more

OK where do I start..... I have been to dozens of hotels and dealt with a lot of customer service some good some bad. Some even able to help you in cases that mistakes were made. I booked this room through hotels.com and I put the wrong date in by accident got to the hotel and realize that I put the wrong date it since I had pre-paid for the hotel they refused to change the date. I was visibly upset because I just really just want to get some rest I guess the manager called me over because I was in tears and she said there's nothing I can do this is hotel policy and the only way I can change it I have to get the OK from Expedia and I told her that I booked through hotels.com, and with nasty attitude she said that it's is Expedia that owns them. you know sometimes in life you have to have consideration and compassion and those are the two things lacking at the Doubletree so they gave me an option of getting a refund and re-booking I feel almost like it was racist and if I was a white woman they would've given me the consideration. thank God I do have money so I booked another room but I was already pissed off the room was mediocre to say the least and I just slept I wouldn't stay here again not because it's a bad hotelBut because sometimes customer service trumps everything else read more

My experience here was terrific. Even though there was a very minor hiccup with the room, the staff was super quick to resolve the issue. They were courteous enough to offer us free breakfast tickets. When we asked about special places to go visit with our kids, they went out of their way to explain all the different attractions and places to visit. From the very first doorstep to the checkout, we have encountered countless smiles and good attitudes. And yes, breakfast was just amazing. Quality food and great service. I think I liked it? I stayed at this location this past week on a business trip. The hotel seems slighly ginormous and decently decorated. I'm kind of a purple fan and I LOVED the walkway to the elevators...every shade of purple!!! The staff was very friendly. Well, except for the couple of people who walked from the back room to the reception area as I was checking in. I smiled at them and was met only with blank stares...weird. However, the reception staff was very nice and helpful later when I had questions. The room "appeared" clean. That was until I started unpacking my toiletries. I noticed the white hand towels hanging on the wall by the sink topped with the 2 finger towels/wash cloths. The very top finger towel/wash cloth was stained and/or dirty. I would like to believe it was just stained by makeup or something. This troubled me, though, because it was the very top display...the first thing my eye saw!!! The house keeper HAD to have seen that!!! Then, I noticed the hand towel to its left...it had hairs all over it...like someone might have trimmed some eyebrow hair over it or something odd like that. Other than that, everything else was decent. They had a decent workout room with a nice selection of machines. The location is great, as well, as it is close to the airport. I think I woul be inclined to stay at this hotel again if ever back in the Syracuse area. read more
