Cresthill Suites in Syracuse is a rundown, poorly managed accommodation. Bathrooms needed paint touchups, floors were dirty, there was no shampoo, no conditioner and no body wash or hand wash in the provided containers. Breakfast was sparse, crumbles of bacon, 1 egg left and they were out of cream cheese for the bagels. Power outlets in kitchen area of the room were plentiful but not working. Free laundry but 1 washer out of 2 -both upstairs and downstairs was not working. One person at the front desk was on the phone and another behind the desk looking at their phone but not helping customers. At checkout, front desk personnel were missing in action. We were given a room that had never been cleaned. The bed was not made . empty soda cans, used wet towels. poop still in plugged toilet. So I trudged back down and never an apology about room. ok. So trudged back (room was the farthest away it possibly could have been ) I was given another room . I used a free night earned from Hotels.com for my overnight here while traveling through the area, and I wish I hadn't - it felt wasted. Check-in was pleasant enough, and it was nice for the woman at the front desk to ask if I preferred the first or second floor. Once she assigned my room, she advised on the closest door / set of stairs that would make it easiest if I left / came back. I moved my car and parked near the door the woman at the front desk noted, then got my things and went up to my room. Upon opening the door to my room though, I was struck by the floral and chemical mix of scents that I assume came from the cleaning solution(s) used in the room previously. It'd be nice if hotels paid closer attention to the scents in their cleaning products, given that some people can be quite sensitive to them (myself included). Would also be nice if the cleaning crew paid a bit closer attention when going through the room to, you know... CLEAN. The random / stray hairs I found on places like the towel rack in my bathroom were quite off-putting, among other cleanliness issues (mildew/mold around metal in the shower, etc) that made me cringe. Also, whatever setting they use on the TV means portions of the picture get cuts off (full screen setting?), so I was trying to watch the Yankees game on TV and there were aspects of the game that I couldn't see because of the setting... and there's no "menu" option on the remote that allows for changing of such settings. Ugh. I was only here for a night, but the entire experience was a compilation of little annoyances... oh, including the WiFi, which kept disconnecting. TL;DR I have no idea what most people who review this place are talking about... the rooms aren't modern, and the price is way too high for the lack of attention paid to things like basic cleanliness of rooms. Before experiencing this hotel, I had been looking forward to sleeping in the next morning... but no, I checked out a couple hours early just to get out of this place. Don't stay here. read more

I'm really baffled how this hotel has good reviews. It's absolutely filthy and outdated. The furniture is stained. The floors and counters are dirty. There were screws all over the bathroom floor and the door handle didn't work correctly. I honestly didn't feel safe here. I checked in later in the evening and checked out an hour and a half later once I saw bed bugs, which the front desk did confirm was indeed bed bugs. Receptionist was friendly and contacted her manger, who approved my refund. It appears most guest are long term and I think they are padding their reviews. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights while visiting family. Upon entry, the lobby was clean and so was the "dining" area. You could see the pool from the lobby. Didn't seem that big but the hotel wasn't very large either. Checked in and entered our room. It was slightly muggy and outdated. The upside was that it had a full kitchen, which we needed to make all the food we were preparing for the reunion. Turned on the AC and it seemed as if it was struggling and was very loud. Also, it had a shelf on top of it, which was weird to me. Almost blocking any type of air flow to the rest of the room but after a while, I guess it cooled off. My daughter was on the pull out bed/couch and you could literally feel the springs in the mattress. I had to get her a topper and padding in order for her to get any sleep. There is no room service, even after staying a few days. You have to request services and/or sheets and towels due to "covid" measures. I feel like hotels are using this covid excuse to do less for more. All in all, it was an okay stay and the staff was very friendly and accommodating whenever I asked for anything but I'd look elsewhere next time. read more

The friendliest staff and so welcoming! Lobby is nice. We got a studio suite with king size bed. Kitchen area with stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. Some pots and dishes. Room is clean and decorated ok. There were stains on the couch and rugs so that grosses me out. Bed was comfortable and there were 4 pillows. Bathroom only had one sink and lighting was poor to put on makeup. Very little counter space too. That was the only mirror in the suite so no full length either. Bathroom was mostly pretty clean. You do get breakfast as well but fairly limited to breakfast sandwiches, bagels and cold cereal. I guess precovid there was more. The price does not reflect the limited menu though. Overall I think we would stay there again as my husband needs to eat frequently so it was great to have the microwave. read more

We had an issue checking into the hotel and found out it was because the hotel itself had made an error processing the reservation we booked through Expedia. The hotel texted us as we were on our way there, stating we had not paid for our reservation and were at risk of cancellation if we did not contact them by 2pm that day. When we arrived at the hotel, which was prior to 2pm we stated we had a reservation.. and that was all we were able to say before the staff-person said it was too early to check in. We were finally able to explain the text we received about a potential issue with our reservation and this staff abruptly.. somewhat angrily stated the text didn't come from them and it was a third party issue. I called Expedia on my cell phone from the hotel lobby. I spoke to a very friendly and helpful agent who stated she could see no issue with our reservation and confirmed it had already been paid for. She placed me on hold and called the hotel. We could here the phone ringing.. ringing .. ringing... as we witnessed the hotel staff ignore the phone. The agent came back on the line with me stating no one was answering and she would try again. The agent called the hotel again and this time this staff member answered the phone and quickly told them to hold and then stated, "I'm not dealing with Expedia right now!" We approached the desk and advised this staff member that the call was regarding our reservation. They took the call and the Expedia agent ironed this out with the hotel and then she explained to me that the hotel hadn't processed our reservation.. or not properly but that we were all set. The hotel staff stated Expedia screwed up and this person followed that up with a very RACIST COMMENT about the agent and added that they can never understand these people on the phone with their "freakin' accents". The room was very expensive and was not clean. The hand soap dispenser was empty. Half the outlets did not work. We could hear dogs in the hotel barking constantly. Stayed here for a night and I was pleasantly surprised. First, when we walked in they had a social night happening where they served baked ziti, salad and soda for free. I was confused since typically hotels have a free continental breakfast, this was the first time I saw what could be a free dinner. Second, the rooms are beautiful. They are suites with a full kitchen, a living space that is separate from the bedroom. I had a room with a king bed. The bed was comfortable and clean. Finally, there were some cool touches that I appreciated. The do not disturb sign was a magnet not a hang tag, and over the air conditioner was a table so no moving curtain all night and extra space for bags. Overall, it was a nice space and affordable. One thing, there aren't a lot of options for meals in walking distance so be prepared to drive, but there is plenty of room for groceries. read more

We have stayed her a few times in the last year. I get a 2 bedroom apartment bc that is helpful as I am there for a certain purpose and the roominess is helpful. The last time we stayed Idk. New staff at front desk on check in misread my reservation and put us in the wrong room type then got all confused and it took forever. We got a room and I was a bit taken back by how stained the walls and curtains and couch were. However the bathrooms kitchen and bed linens were very clean. They have a hot breakfast but it is over at 9 so better be there before. I did let management know about the stained part and they responded right away. I think it just is old and that slipped plus they had some changes in housekeeping. I would stay here again. read more

Amazing service by Evelyn. She was at the front desk when we checked in and she was amazing. Very helpful and informative and so so nice. Rooms were clean, smelled nice and were relatively modern. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and there were 3 TVs, an entire kitchen, 2 FULL bathrooms with all of the fixin's (shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, lotion, makeup removers, etc). The "convenient store" in the lobby offers complimentary toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors and shaving cream, dish soap, combs, etc. as well as very low priced snacks, medicines, and even frozen foods and ice cream. We had a family emergency and had to make a trip from Pennsylvania to Syracuse. We walked down the hall to our room and their were 2 piles on linens in the hallway that were there overnight. There were pennies left on the stove, food left in the fridge, the sink was dirty and there was a 1/4 roll of toilet paper. There were 3 lotions but no shampoo. I will say that the bed was extremely comfortable. I would not recommend staying there. read more

This hotel has gone downhill in the last couple of years. I booked a Queen studio room with 2 beds for my family back in January for the solar eclipse. Upon check-in at 5 pm (check-in is stated to begin at 3), a young woman in street clothes sitting behind the desk (nothing to indicate she even worked there except that she was sitting behind the desk) advised the room I booked was not available. At first she said they were overbooked, but could "upgrade" us to a King Studio room at no extra charge. I said no because going from a room with two beds to a room with one bed is not an upgrade. She then said she could put us in a King Studio temporarily and if a Queen opened up she'd move us, but I didn't get the sense that this would really happen and we'd be stuck with having accepted a different room. Another woman then went behind the front desk and the two of them were complaining that housekeeping was not cleaning the rooms fast enough and that none of the Queen rooms were cleaned. So I asked if there were really overbooked or were the Queen rooms just not cleaned. The front desk clerk admitted they were just not cleaned and would not guarantee that they would be cleaned. Then the other woman took a call with someone named Eugene, who I believe is the general manager. There was about 10 guests within earshot and the woman said to him "we're going downhill really fast." The front desk clerk then sent housekeeping to clean one of the Queen rooms, but still would not commit to it being done and asked the other woman what to do. The other woman's response to her was to just figure it out. The front desk clerk couldn't get a hold of housekeeping and my family's frustration escalated. We were tired after a 4-1/2 hour drive, but it seemed the hotel was nothing but chaos and no guarantee of the room we booked. Words were exchanged and the front desk clerk told us to leave the hotel, our reservation was now cancelled, and that we would not be receiving a refund. The front desk clerk in the street clothes also blew us a kiss on the way out. We booked the room through Expedia and they tried to get the refund, but the hotel refused. Based on the other reviews I've read, while we're out about $700 it looks like we dodged a bullet by not staying there and I'd advise others look elsewhere as well (at least 6 other hotels within a 1/4 mile of this one, including two very nice Hilton hotels directly across the street). So sad to see what's happened to a once nice hotel. read more

We stayed at Cresthill for a week recently as we waited to move into our new home. Cresthill Suites is a gem. Well-managed and with attentive staff, the rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed, including a full kitchenette. Free laundry machines are available as well. They provide a simple grab-and-go breakfast to boot. They upgraded us to a 2-bedroom suite, which made our stay even more pleasant. Cresthill is a short drive to Syracuse and is very conveniently located near the airport. They accept pets (for an added fee). Rates are very affordable. I highly recommend Cresthill Suites, whether you're in Syracuse short-term or a longer haul. read more

This suite hotel is not part of any major chain and it is a little dated, but the beds are comfortable, the HVAC system works well (especially the heat), and the staff is friendly. That's all one can ask about a lodging establishment. The breakfast was pretty good in my opinion, it compares better than Holiday Inn Express and a tad under the breakfast found at Hampton Inn -- I am a seasoned road warrior. The fitness center is just as it sounds... a fitness center. Seasoned gym rats will not like it, but there are machines to get the heart pumping. The one deduction comes the refrigerator found within my suite, whenever it kicked off there was a loud, almost sounding like it was coming apart noise. read more

Breakfast isn't extravagant, but it's quite good with a decent selection. Earlier reviews I read mentioned the breakfast area being run down, but if it was it isn't now. Plenty of parking. Be advised. You will not get the room you book. Where to begin? I booked a studio room with 2 queen beds and a pull out couch. I went to my room after I checked in and they gave me a 1 bedroom suite with 1 king bed and a pull out couch. We needed the extra bed so I went to the front desk since there was obviously a mistake. I was greeted by a guy who refused to recognize the issue and just kept saying "Room types are not guaranteed. They aren't at any hotel." Are you serious? This most certainly is not a standard practice. He refused to do anything about it and made it sound like that we were lucky to have any room at all. Our room had dead bugs on the window sill and there were no linens for the pull out couch that we now were forced to use even though we booked a room with 2 beds. Additionally the kitchenette floor had a sticky substance on it and was obviously not cleaned. Around 9pm the same guy called our room to see how we were enjoying our stay. I asked him if this was a serious call and he repeated that rooms are not guaranteed to me again. This was uncalled for and he clearly just wanted to harass us. We will not be staying here again and advise others to look elsewhere also. You will not get the room you booked and they will treat you like crap when you bring the issue up to them. read more

So happy with this place. We booked a pet-friendly suite and it is super clean and absolutely huge! We have 2 large bedrooms (1 with 2 queens, 1 with a king), a full kitchen, a living room, and 2 full baths. For the price, it's an awesome deal. There is so much storage space and the front desk employees were very friendly and helpful when we checked in. It has a pool, too. We can't use it tonight as we are traveling with a small child and have to be up early tomorrow, but I'm sure it's fine if the rest of the hotel is any indication. The staff left us a welcome basket filled with complimentary tea, coffee, popcorn, and snacks. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel for families with kids and/or pets. read more

Thank goodness the windows opened so we could try to air it out some but despite that and air freshener we bought, the smell made me nauseous. The bathroom was so dirty and there were stains that looked like blood or something on the door frame. What a nice little find in Syracuse. I was there for a meeting and needed something close by. Just took a chance on Cresthill because they accept pets. They could not be more accomodating. The front desk staff were friendly and cheerful. The lobby is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The rooms were spotless. This is an "extended stay" hotel and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms have a sitting area with a sofa and flat screen TV - nearby is a small kitchen. The separate bedroom also has a flat screen TV and a spacious bathroom. The beds are comfortable and the linens clean and crisp. They have laundry facilities on site as well as a workout room and pool. Cresthill offers a complimentary breakfast AND dinner so guests can come together in the dining area and visit if they'd like. Very homey. They were also reasonably priced compared to the chains that spend all their money on advertising. The only change I would make would be to the pet policies. If you claim to be "pet friendly" then do not charge a $50. NON-refundable fee. My pet has never soiled a carpet. Can you say that of most children? Otherwise a great place to stay! read more

SERIOUSLY. People must have this place confused with another hotel. Yes, the people that work here were really nice but that was the only positive. We were supposed to stay here for a week and after 2 days we HAD to leave. WHAT WHAT WHAT THE HELL are people talking about. I would post pictures if I cared enough to prove my point, but this place is not at all in good shape. The carpet is tearing up. The couch has piss/vomit/food/tea/coffee/god knows what stains all over it. The walls in the halls have been covered in plexiglass where they are tired of people banging into the drywall. The doors have holes and dents in them from slamming/punching? The breakfast is worse than Super 8. The front desk chick was screaming on the phone and sobbing about her boyfriend/baby daddy needing to "just go". Need I go on? That all being said they are very friendly here, especially the gentleman who picked us up from the airport. Short version: there are 18 other hotels in walking distance from here. Relocating to Syracuse and waiting for our place to be ready, I looked and looked for an extended stay place that would be good for our dogs and price was right. I found CS here on Yelp and called. Spoke to Amanda same day and she was excellent. Throughout our stay she always went above and beyond to help us and accommodate our needs. The rooms are big and have everything you need. Pots, pans, dishes, silverware, glasses a welcome basket is always awaiting for you. The rooms were clean and even though it is not as fancy as others , it had all we needed. The whole staff was friendly and helpful. The gym was clean, small but I did go there every day. They offer breakfast and dinner with your stay. They even have wine and beer with dinner. Simple menu but it's food. Parking lot is safe as we left my car parked there when we drove Downstate on weekends. Overall, it was a good stay and a good experience. Stayed here last weekend with a baby. First we got Room 144. My husband checked the bed sheets on both beds and they were dirty (5 hairs on one and 2 on the other one). Then they gave us Room 145. Bed sheets were good, no hair. So we decided to stay. Later we noticed there were crumbs under the bed and a dirty Q-tip on the floor. The furniture definitely needs upgrade. Kitchen cabinet, the fridge, the carpet and sofa need to be replaced. The TV didn't work so we have to call the maintenance guy to check. He reset the cable and it finally worked. The front desk lady, Evelyn was nice and friendly. Breakfast is decent. We had waffle, cereal, bagel with cream cheese, sausages and eggs. The coffee is good. We also experienced a little paranormal activity during our stay. But maybe it's just me We won't be staying here next time read more
