The hotel I stayed in was clean and very comfortable. I enjoyed the modern design of their bathrooms and the shower pressure all together. The bed was definitely comfortable. My only issue was their customer service, they had me under the wrong name and suggest that I get in contact with the person who set up the residency as I was there for my residency. I booked an extra stay because I wanted to make sure I got there on time as I had to travel from NY, so it was under my name not the person who was in charge of the residency. I did get help once I got there by Megan and yeah they were the ones who booked me incorrectly. The person who answered the phone did not want to help at all. The food was good also. I enjoyed their restaurant and breakfast in the morning.

This is our second time here and the staff are always so nice. This is one of our favorite hotels now when we come up (we live on cape, but occasionally visit family nearby). The bartender was great, the jacuzzi is AMAZING (except the liner is coming up off the floor), and the room was very clean. The only issue is the cookies smell and look amazing. The only problem is they have nuts in them and I am allergic. It would be nice if they made nut free cookies. Otherwise, looking forward to coming back.

rooms are clean, diamond water is plentiful and the cookies are fresh and warm. 4-stars because of the bartender, Frank. That an interesting person. He asks for everyone's names and remembers them thought the entire experience. I bet if I came back in 2-weeks, he would remember my food order and drink. he is the highlight of the hotel.

Horrible experience. The a/c was broken and our room was 85 degrees and they said they fixed it. Smelled like smoke and mold.

The hostess informed me upon check in that the dining room and bar were closed due to lack of staff. Okay, but it's Saturday! Luckily I had eaten at the party so I decided to use the pool.It was a bit of a walk to get to the pool. One needs to leave the front of the hotel and through the parking lot, following a path to the pool.Apparently, there is no way to access the pool without making this journey. It's okay during the summer but limits use in winter.Inside the pool one other family informed me that the hot tub wasn't very hot.I tried it for myself and it was lukewarm. At least the jets worked. The ladies room is lacking safety mats and doesn't have a specified changing room, just two toilets. There was a door with no door knob and when I opened it saw what is apparently a spa.As it was closed and dark I closed the door.As I entered the pool area there were tools just laying around. For 300 a night, one expects a higher quality experience. The room itself didn't have any info. about the area and didn't have a welcoming vibe. There should be a safety mat in the bathroom. In the morning I was hoping for the advertised breakfast.Upon entering the breakfast area I saw a bunch of appliances lined up but hardly any food to eat. There wasn't even a coffee station. There was a sad small Keurig maker. All they offered was cold cereal, stale tiny croissants, fruit that looked sad, grapes still in their package...not even cleaned or presented. In the fridge there was just milk.No juice! The other family that came in with kids told their mom they were hungry and asked"where is the food?" They left.I ate a stale croissant, and drank a Keurig coffee and left hungry.I've stayed at hotels all across the country and have never seen such a disgraceful display. If you're going to charge 300 a night then make an effort! Sincerely, Maryjane Schram

On April 5, 2026, three friends and I booked our annual Mother's Day getaway at Chateau Merrimack. We weren't first-time guests. We had stayed here in 2025 and had a wonderful experience, and I had also stayed at the property several times before the ownership change. We genuinely loved staying here, recommended the hotel to family and friends, and expected this to become an annual tradition. Unfortunately, that tradition ended on May 30, 2026. Before our stay, we discovered through OpenTable that the restaurant was listed as permanently closed, even though the Chateau Merrimack website still displayed the restaurant menu as if it were open. While disappointing, we adjusted our plans and decided to keep our reservation. When we arrived to check in on May 30, we were then informed that the pool was closed and the elevators were also out of service. The elevator closure itself was not a deciding factor for us. The pool, however, absolutely was. We had thoroughly enjoyed using it during our previous stay, and it was one of the primary reasons we chose to return to Chateau Merrimack. Along with the restaurant and other amenities, it was part of the experience we believed we were booking. When we questioned why this information hadn't been clearly communicated, we were shown that the pool closure was mentioned only at the very end of the online booking process, immediately before entering payment information. That is not meaningful transparency, and that notice was not present when we made our reservation on April 5. If one of your property's primary amenities is unavailable, guests deserve to know that before deciding to book--not after they've already arrived. While trying to understand what had happened, my friend also discovered that our exact room type for that same night was being advertised for substantially less than what we had originally paid. That only added to our frustration. I want to be very clear that the front desk employee was kind, professional, and empathetic throughout the interaction. My disappointment is not with him. It is entirely with management and how this situation was handled. Because the stay we booked was no longer the experience we expected, we canceled our reservation and found another hotel. We were told there would be a $50 cancellation fee, but we were ultimately charged $53.13. Rather than immediately posting a negative review, I made every effort to resolve this privately. - May 31: I sent a detailed, respectful email to management explaining my concerns and requesting that the cancellation fee be refunded. - June 4: After receiving no response, I sent a follow-up email. - June 5: The manager replied, stating my original email had gone to her spam folder. While I appreciated finally receiving a response, it was dismissive and focused solely on company policy rather than addressing the lack of transparency or acknowledging our concerns. - June 6: I replied, hoping we could continue the conversation and reach a fair resolution. - June 13: After another week of silence, I sent one final follow-up, even asking if perhaps my response had also ended up in her spam folder. Today is July 6, 2026. I have still never received another response. I am still out $53.13, but more disappointing than the money is the complete lack of communication. Management had multiple opportunities over the course of five weeks to acknowledge our concerns and make this right. Instead, they simply stopped responding. This review isn't really about $53.13. It's about transparency, accountability, and customer service. Hotels undergo renovations, amenities close, and unexpected situations happen. Most guests understand that. What matters is being upfront before people book and treating loyal, returning customers fairly when concerns are raised. What should have been a relaxing annual getaway with friends became a stressful experience that ended with us scrambling to find another hotel. Even more disappointing is that after giving management multiple opportunities to resolve the matter privately, it ultimately ended with silence. Sadly, because of this experience, I can no longer recommend Chateau Merrimack. If you choose to stay here, I strongly encourage you to verify that the amenities that are important to you are actually available before booking.

This location failed from the ground up, from housekeeping, to front desk management not attempting to contact us while we were onsite, to no follow up from upper management within 24 hours of the incident. I do not recommend anyone staying here. It is unhygienic and unsafe, especially if you have children. This situation has left me with no faith In this brand. My less than one year old found broken glass in the room and put it in her mouth. We immediately took it out before she was hurt. When we went to look for more it turned out to be a broken crack pipe sitting in the corner of the room (picture included). When I brought the pipe to the desk I was not rude but was rightly upset (I know it's not the front desks fault) the staff proceeded to tell me they knew that the previous occupants had been doing drugs in the room, and had to clean more than a few pipes out of said room. Now there are a couple of issues with this. 1) This room was less than 100 feet from the front desk, you knew what was going on and didn't call the cops? 2) This means no one ran a vacuum or even walked around the room to double check that it was a safe and clean environment for the next guest prior to check in? 3) How clean can their regular rooms be? If they didn't vacuum I highly doubt they wiped anything down. Those kinds of drugs leave a residue that can be absorbed by the skin putting anyone in that room in danger of exposure like my two small children who crawl, touch everything, and put their hands in their mouths. Then the run around started. I requested to speak to a general manager or higher and was told he wasn't in and hard to get a hold of during the weekends. Then I was told more than 4 times by multiple employees that they had spoken to Greg multiple times, he just refused to speak to me (that's a great way to represent the company you work for). I also requested to speak to the management of housekeeping and received the same answers... absolutely disrespectful. My child was exposed to drugs and if we didn't catch her as quickly as we did her life could have been put In danger and nobody cared. When I called all of the corporate numbers, I couldn't get through to anyone and was left on hold for at least an hour and that's another corporate failure.

A true, traditional, historic B and B can't be beat, and that is what Timber Post is! She dealt with my questions very helpfully over the phone before arriving, and then the moment I arrived. Vivian has every little beautiful or welcoming detail covered, and the place is immaculately clean. There are intriguing antiques and pictures everywhere to add to the ambiance. The breakfast is sumptuous, but despite all that work, she was kind enough to make me something I preferred. I stayed two nights, at the start and end of my road trip, in two different parts of her lodgings. Both were lovely. It's quiet, for a light sleeper like me, and also important for a woman traveling alone, I felt safe. Vivian even has done the genealogy on the Inn from its early years, and discovered she's descended from the some of the original owners! She said how the community there has been so kind to her. Now that's real sense of place. I highly recommend Timber Post for a true New England Bed and Breakfast experience, in rural Hollis. A delight.

Note: I deleted and reposted this, bc her response illegally posted some personally identifiable information. The response also showed the inability to internalize feedback, and misguided perspective on that feedback. Example: We SHOWED her the booking.com website where it clearly stated private bathroom in multiple places. I've added the photo to show that it said private bathroom, and yet she's insisting that it does not show this. This is how delusional she is.
