Great... when we walked into the room, it was clear it wasn't an upgrade. Old carpeted floors, two small beds in separate rooms (not what we wanted) and an old kitchen that didn't even have a proper coffee brewer (think a $10 walmart pot brewer...). We called down and asked if we could forgo our "upgrade" and just have the room we booked... we were then told our original room had a leak and was unavailable. Okay, so not really an upgrade but our room was not available and you had to move us to what was clearly a worse room... but called it an upgrade to avoid needing to compensate in any way. The bathroom floor was covered in hair... I wet a kleenex to wipe some up, and the kleenex came back black. Really gross, we ended up laying towels on the floor so we could comfortably have bare feet in there. The tv was on the writing desk, blocking the one mirror and also being blocked itself by the chair... The linens on the beds were awful. I'm not a "thread count connoisseur" and I don't think I've ever even noticed the sheets in any hotel, but these were so rough, it was like sleeping on no-name brand paper towels. Luckily (?) we booked through hotels.com which has great customer service. They were able to cancel our last night and get it refunded, and we moved to the Coast Capri hotel down the street. Maybe the Inn & Suites rooms that are reno'd are nicer? No idea since we got stuck in our "upgrade" suite.

The property is clean and we have no qualms with the cleanliness of our suite. We have a nice view from the third floor. Several days later I saw on my credit card that I was charged the whole amount of our stay, which I had already paid through Expedia. I should have only been charged the pet fee & room service. Contacting the hotel was a bit of a hassle. Eventually got my refund. I can imagine this place being really nice and busy in the summer.

My husband enjoyed the hot tub (limit of 2 people) and a swim in the pool yesterday before we went for dinner. There is no housekeeping service because of covid but you can request any top up of supplies you may require. The room is very clean and well sanitized. The beds are comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. Friends of ours are staying at the Grand Okanagan and they are very disappointed as none of the facilities are open and very little staff available so they have a room with no glasses, no chairs to sit on and a phone that does not work. They've had to request the most basic of supplies on numerous occasions. The staff here are very friendly and accommodating. There is a nice boardwalk out on the lake and it is a short stroll along the water to their sister property - Eldorado Resort. Finding parking on their lot can be challenging.

There is a cafe a few doors down for breakfast, and the store across the street for supplies. I look forward to staying at the Village Motel again!
