When I called the business I spoke to a friendly person by the name of "Joan" who took my delivery information and suggestion for a plant. Just one town over you'll find Ken's Motel, in the quaint little town of Aurora. It's a perfectly acceptable budget motel. Dated it may be, but in this girls opinion "dated" is not a bad word. I like blast-from-the-past places like these & I wish they'd preserve more of them as well as they have this one. Friendly staff, clean & comfortable. There's even a full sized fridge. Close to Mc Donald's, Pizza & gas. We also saw a sign for Arby's on the other side of the interstate. Parking may be tricky if you're hauling a trailer in the snow, as we are, but it's doable. We just had to circle the property and come through one of the back entrances. Otherwise, you'll be able to park right in front of your room. It seems to me Aurora would be a nice stop for the family in the summer months, as well. In different circumstances, we would've loved to tour one of their Museums. The Science center looks like a good time for families & the Plainsman Museum is right up my alley w/a "journey through yesterday". We also noticed a community pool w/water slides driving into town. Snowbound or summer fun...Kens motel will do the trick if you're looking for an affordable option while you check out all that Aurora has to offer.

Place is thread bare and gritty around the edges. The carpets could definitely use more cleaning, especially in the halls and stairways. Otherwise, it seemed clean. I appreciated the accommodations. It's beautifully maintained, and looks like a well to do family lived here in the 1920's. the stove is the eye catcher here. They kindly have indoor plumbing. I didn't see the barn and church. They are available for rental year round. Activities and classes go on all year as well, and the month of December is Christmas on the farm. Near the house is where all the jellies, jams, breads and other goods are sold. I haven't had my grape one yet. Local vendors have delicious baked goods and sandwiches for the outdoor activities. I tried the kolaches from a local Czech family. This is a good place to volunteer as well. This may be the center of York. If I lived here I'd celebrate every life event at this beautiful landmark. I won't see another eclipse, but I'll come back and visit again.
