First time visiting this pool with some friends and kids on a weekend. There's a huge parking lot…read moreright outside the pool, which is very convenient. The parking signs were a little confusing because they say "pool permit parking only," but I later found out that this only applies on weekdays. $8 admission is a pretty good deal, although there's an additional service fee when paying by credit card. The front desk didn't mention the fee, and I only noticed it after reading a sign off to the side of the desk. The changing room was clean and tidy, with hot showers and plenty of lockers. There aren't individual changing stalls, though, and the bathroom is located inside the changing room. The kids' pool is probably the highlight. It's very shallow and perfect for little kids, with water slides, a play structure, and a big bucket that fills up and dumps water over everyone. The kids had a lot of fun waiting for it. The main pool has a dedicated lap-swimming section and a shallower area around 4 feet deep where people can hang out. The deep end has an inflatable obstacle course that looks like an American Ninja Warrior-style setup, along with diving boards at different heights. My biggest issue was the very strict lifeguard monitoring. They were watching the pool extremely closely, with whistles ready to go at any moment. During our three-hour visit, I saw multiple parents and kids being spoken to by lifeguards. I was also approached for having a small child on my back in the shallow section. I was standing comfortably in the water, but I was told not to carry the child that way. What confused me was that I was allowed to carry the same child in front of me, but not on my back. I understand the lifeguards have to enforce safety rules, but I wasn't clear on the difference or what additional safety concern the back carry presented. Overall, I appreciate having lifeguards who are attentive and focused on safety, especially with so many kids around. However, during our visit, it sometimes felt like I was being watched the entire time and had to walk on eggshells. The facilities are clean, the kids' pool is fun, there's plenty to do, and $8 is a reasonable price. Would I come back? Maybe 50/50. It's a good community pool, but the very strict enforcement made the experience a little less relaxing for me. ‍

We've been to Dublin Wave and Larkey Swim Center but I think San Ramon Aquatic Park takes the cake: 1. Low entry fee of $8/pp. Big, clean family room for changing along with showers. 2. The main splash pad is a sight to behold. They have this gigantic bucket that gets filled with water pumped from the main pool. It rocks back and forth like a slow bell, signaling impeding doom. Eventually, the bucket tips over and drenched everything and everyone below. It never gets old watching this. 3. They have separate pools for diving, lap swimming, and one with a gigantic inflatable structure that looks like an obstacle course from American Ninja, only above a big pool. As for minor downsides: 1. Limited places to sit around the perimeter. Its crowded here and many folks set out blankets for picnics. 2 Despite a pretty big parking lot, it does get busy so you may need to park a bit farther.

There's a new lap swim thing this year without the guards that starts at 6am, but I've never tried it. The kids working here are pretty courteous with opening the gate for you when you both come and go. They pretty much just let anybody in if someone is manning/womaning the gate. So, the security ain't that tight. People just leave their bikes unlocked outside too. I keep eyeing this one pretty cruiser...All in all I'm a fan of this pool even though it is only open in the summer (roughly end of May through end of September). They keep it nice and heated and fairly clean. My only beef is with the no balls rule. Some guards say only soft balls (squishie ones), some allow tennis balls during slow/uncrowded hours. But tonight, I was so excited to blow up my new beach ball and play with my adult family members. They said I couldn't have it because it obstructed the guard's views....uh...my little beach ball? So, I said "How about during rest period then (every 45 minutes on the hour the kiddos have to vacate the pool for 15 minutes while the guards take a break)?" The guard said "no" when the guards don't even watch the pool during rest period. So, what view am I obstructing? I was so ticked off I left to write this review. That was an hour ago...I'm still steamed. Back in the swim bag my new beach ball goes for another time....

Even during COVID, it felt overwhelming, and progress was slow. Then we switched to ASA Livermore, where, unfortunately, a teacher once pushed him into the pool despite his discomfort with water in his eyes. That experience really set him back, and we paused swimming altogether in 2023. Fast forward to 2025, we gave All Star a try. It's only been 1.5 months, and the transformation is incredible. Not only does he love the water, but he looks forward to every class. He's already jumping in, kicking, floating, and taking risk, all in just 15-minute sessions! It's definitely pricey, but the progress has made it absolutely worth it. Camille has also been wonderful... so warm, accommodating, and great with kids. The whole environment here feels positive and welcoming. We're really grateful we made the switch.

They told me there's literally nothing they will do or can do about this. They refunded me for the class and canceled my membership because I'm just not gonna go ahead and sign this stuff over just so my kid can get swim classes. This was back in July. I've signed back into my account and as you can see here nothing has changed and this still exists. No parent should have to give up the identity of their child in order to use a product or service that they're already willing to pay for.

You can actually find a chair, the kids can actually swim without bumping into anyone. But what really sets it apart is the people. This isn't just a pool, it's a community. Families share their pool toys, kids fold new friends into their games within minutes. Everyone is genuinely kind and welcoming, and you feel it the moment you walk through the gate. We can spend the whole day there if we have time, and several of my kids' friends usually join. They swim, they eat lunch on the grass, they climb the trees, they play volleyball and tetherball until they're pleasantly worn out. It brings you back to a simpler time, when childhood didn't need to be complicated. Just a pool, some open space, a few outdoor games, and their imaginations take it from there. For the families without pools, a neighborhood pool like the Del Amigo Swim Club rocks! Del Amigo offers a safe and family friendly environment for swimming, BBQing, and general socializing. In addition to the main pool, there is also a children's pool (age restricted to 6 and under) and a sport court. The Del Amigo Dolphins swim team is led by Coach Janet, an amazing woman who has the ability to connect with youth of all ages. Del Amigo is a great experience for the entire family!
