I am trying to find a pool, locally, where I can lap swim. Do I need to be a resident of San Ramon to be able to use this pool? Thank you.

Hi Susan - you do not need to be a resident of San Ramon to utilize the Dougherty Valley Aquatic Center for lap swim. Please visit www.SanRamon.ca.gov/Aquatics for current information on lap swim and our reservation procedures.

Wow, San Ramon Aquatic Center is great if you're looking for a place for beginner swimmers or a…read moreplace to splash during a hot summer day. We've been to Dublin Wave and Larkey Swim Center but I think San Ramon Aquatic Park takes the cake: 1. Low entry fee of $8/pp. Big, clean family room for changing along with showers. 2. The main splash pad is a sight to behold. They have this gigantic bucket that gets filled with water pumped from the main pool. It rocks back and forth like a slow bell, signaling impeding doom. Eventually, the bucket tips over and drenched everything and everyone below. It never gets old watching this. 3. They have separate pools for diving, lap swimming, and one with a gigantic inflatable structure that looks like an obstacle course from American Ninja, only above a big pool. As for minor downsides: 1. Limited places to sit around the perimeter. Its crowded here and many folks set out blankets for picnics. 2 Despite a pretty big parking lot, it does get busy so you may need to park a bit farther.

I love that they have later opening times to accomodate those of us who want to take our kiddos to the pool after work. Most other spots close by 6pm. We've gone a few times to their 7pm to 8:30pm rec swim time slot M, Tues, Thurs, Fri, and my toddler absolutely loves it. Lifeguard are paying close attention to everyone and making sure everyone is being safe. Very clean locker rooms/shower facilities as well. Reasonable prices, $8 per person, but just keep in mind there is a service fee if you use a credit card, so bring cash if possible! We've happily incorporated this into the rotating group of rec swim places we hit during the summer.

The facility is clean, and it's perfect for my kids, who are 14, 10, 5, 4 and 10months old. I recommend renting your space ahead of time. Even with many people, there's so much to do that it doesn't feel crowded. We enjoyed the food too, especially the loaded fries, chicken strips, and strawberry lemonade. My family really had a great time, and there are plenty of lifeguards on duty.

The Dublin Wave seemed like it would be a good place to spend an afternoon with the kids, but the…read moreexperience was more frustrating than expected. The facility was extremely crowded, and several of the rides and attractions were closed, which left fewer things available for everyone who was there. There also were not enough places to sit while waiting for the closed attractions to reopen. The lifeguards did not come across as particularly friendly or patient with the kids, which affected the overall experience. I understand that staff members have to enforce safety rules, especially when the facility is busy, but the communication could have been more welcoming. The kids still had some fun, but the crowds, closures, limited seating, and service made the visit less enjoyable than it could have been. This place has potential for a family outing, but I would recommend checking what is open before visiting and going during a less crowded time.

A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to be offered the last slot available this season, and jumped at the opportunity. Since that day, we have already spent over a dozen hours at the club. The kids love being in the pool and are learning to swim, and my wife and I love the fact that the Club is not too crowded. A few other things I appreciate: - They always have life guards, and the staff is friendly. - Shallow water in the majority of the pool area allows kids to learn swimming. - Adult Swim at 45 minutes past every hour gives kids under 12 a break and lets adults swim in peace! - They sell treats (like ice cream) for a dollar. - Plenty of seating and lounging areas, with shady umbrellas. - Free wifi. - The picnic areas, barbecue grills, and cabanas are perfect for birthdays and other parties. Looking forward to booking them next season. - The diving boards look like fun! Thank you Del Prado Cabana Club. See you soon!
