It's really fun and enjoyable so it's a really great place to learn and have fun swimming

Wonderful experience--great instructors and clean facility! I signed my children up for swimming lessons at Calphin Swim School, and we've had such a positive experience from day one. The staff are patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Front staff, Michelle & Nancy have been very helpful with registration and answering any questions ask. Coach Lexie, Mark, Mako and Alex 1 & 2, (apparently there are 2 of them) :) made our daughters feel confident and safe in the water--their gentle encouragement and positive attitude really helped our daughters progress. The location is very convenient, with plenty of parking and a well-maintained facility. The pool area is clean, organized, and warm enough for the kids to feel comfortable. The bathroom is clean, offers plenty of shower to rinse off and lockers to use. The waiting area has seating for parents, free WiFi, and a mini snack bar, which is a thoughtful touch. Scheduling was easy, we were able to find times that worked for both my children and when we needed to reschedule a class. We plan on continuing lessons here--highly recommend for anyone looking for quality swimming instruction in a supportive environment!

ASA has been flexible and accommodating with scheduling and makeups when illness and other issues inevitably arise. We love the small class sizes and open changing rooms. Shout out to Archana for all her help! Pro tip: if you choose earlier/odd times that no one wants, you can often end up with 1-on-1 lessons. Ask the rep how many kids are enrolled when signing up. If no times available, sometimes they will open a new spot.

This review is about the manager and how she doesn't understand client needs when it comes to using their services. It shows this establishment is a very cookie cutter academy and best suitable for only kids less than 10 years old ( lanes were Very narrow aka cramped, my kid scraped his back and was bleeding) I called the ASA specifically to inquire if they are a good fit for my child's swimming lesson needs. I have explained in detail what level my child is at which he knows most of the strokes and has been playing waterpolo competitively. He now wants to join a competitive swim team which he wasn't able to bc he didn't know how to do flip turns and he is not very good at back stroke. We want to improve these areas specifically and we want to know if 1, they have a specific class that will fit this need, 2, he is a teenager so we need to know if he personally thinks the class will work for him. The girl offered a trial class and we showed up. She told me over the phone that this class will help with what he needs but ofc when we attended it was a class based on age and not skills. Clearly was not what we were looking for but as I was sitting there, a lady came by asked me what I was looking for bc she can see he was not a little kid and he can almost qualify to be an instructor based on how well he swam. After I explained our situation again which I didn't mind, she said they have a stroke specific class which will make more sense for him. I asked if we can do a trial class she said yes. And, again that's not the case bc when the front desk staffs tried to book one they needed a manager's approval. The manager refused and asked us to pay bc they only offer 1 trial class. I explained the situation being we attended an incorrect class etc then she insisted it doesn't matter bc trial class is to access what level he is at so one class will suffice.... THIS IS THE PART why I wrote this review. As a paying client who has to commit to at least three months of swimming lessons at $52/class, I should have the say so if the class, the instructor, the lessons are going to work for us. We also get to evaluate the school. But from the manager, it's a one way street even though the whole point of a trial class for us was to see if my child will get the training he needs. Not to mention we wasted our time driving to this class on a school day to which it doesn't work for us at all. Like she made it seem like I wanted to get another free class smh. I was even considering private lessons if the instructor was very good at helping my child! It's this type of poor management makes you lose business.

Wow, San Ramon Aquatic Center is great if you're looking for a place for beginner swimmers or a…read moreplace to splash during a hot summer day. We've been to Dublin Wave and Larkey Swim Center but I think San Ramon Aquatic Park takes the cake: 1. Low entry fee of $8/pp. Big, clean family room for changing along with showers. 2. The main splash pad is a sight to behold. They have this gigantic bucket that gets filled with water pumped from the main pool. It rocks back and forth like a slow bell, signaling impeding doom. Eventually, the bucket tips over and drenched everything and everyone below. It never gets old watching this. 3. They have separate pools for diving, lap swimming, and one with a gigantic inflatable structure that looks like an obstacle course from American Ninja, only above a big pool. As for minor downsides: 1. Limited places to sit around the perimeter. Its crowded here and many folks set out blankets for picnics. 2 Despite a pretty big parking lot, it does get busy so you may need to park a bit farther.

First time visiting this pool with some friends and kids on a weekend. There's a huge parking lot…read moreright outside the pool, which is very convenient. The parking signs were a little confusing because they say "pool permit parking only," but I later found out that this only applies on weekdays. $8 admission is a pretty good deal, although there's an additional service fee when paying by credit card. The front desk didn't mention the fee, and I only noticed it after reading a sign off to the side of the desk. The changing room was clean and tidy, with hot showers and plenty of lockers. There aren't individual changing stalls, though, and the bathroom is located inside the changing room. The kids' pool is probably the highlight. It's very shallow and perfect for little kids, with water slides, a play structure, and a big bucket that fills up and dumps water over everyone. The kids had a lot of fun waiting for it. The main pool has a dedicated lap-swimming section and a shallower area around 4 feet deep where people can hang out. The deep end has an inflatable obstacle course that looks like an American Ninja Warrior-style setup, along with diving boards at different heights. My biggest issue was the very strict lifeguard monitoring. They were watching the pool extremely closely, with whistles ready to go at any moment. During our three-hour visit, I saw multiple parents and kids being spoken to by lifeguards. I was also approached for having a small child on my back in the shallow section. I was standing comfortably in the water, but I was told not to carry the child that way. What confused me was that I was allowed to carry the same child in front of me, but not on my back. I understand the lifeguards have to enforce safety rules, but I wasn't clear on the difference or what additional safety concern the back carry presented. Overall, I appreciate having lifeguards who are attentive and focused on safety, especially with so many kids around. However, during our visit, it sometimes felt like I was being watched the entire time and had to walk on eggshells. The facilities are clean, the kids' pool is fun, there's plenty to do, and $8 is a reasonable price. Would I come back? Maybe 50/50. It's a good community pool, but the very strict enforcement made the experience a little less relaxing for me. ‍

In hindsight, maybe it worked to my advantage to not leave a raving review sooner. Mr Keiths schedule books quickly in warm months and my 5 star wouldn't help me so much in securing my kids desired swim slots. No.. but really, Keith is nothing short of AMAZING. He is punctual, reliable, honest, flexible as can be for the most sought after swim lessons in the East Bay Area. He has a natural way of interacting with kids, he gets on their level. Maybe cause he is just like a big kid himself. but Keith really knows how to teach hard concepts and break it down for young minds so they truly understand, learn and grow when applying skills. Keith's own enthusiastic and playful nature combined with instructing in a approachable way attracts the attention of little ones. Despite his childlike teaching style, he consistently sets firm expectations and provides gentle feedback when needed that foster motivation and encourage kids to do their best, truly maximizing every minute of a short swim lesson. I have seen tremendous growth in both my kids with Mr Keith. I will never be going back to a local swim school. That was just a waste of money and pool playtime with friends. My family recently moved into the neighborhood. We saw a crane trimming a large tree one morning and drove around the neighborhood to look. When we realized it was through Patti's Swim School, we started talking about possibly enrolling our two young children. The gate was open. The wide driveway and parking area looked like the entrance to a business, and we didn't see anything at the entrance saying "Private Property," "No Trespassing," "Appointment Required" or "Enrolled Families Only." We stopped near the gate and began talking to the neighboring property owner. A man named Michael came outside, told us not to speak with her and ordered us to leave because we were trespassing. His tone and manner felt very aggressive and confrontational. The neighbor disagreed with him and said the area was a public or shared-access easement. We had no idea there was apparently some kind of dispute between them. I can't say who was legally right about the easement, and we weren't there to take sides. Michael told us to leave, so we left. I was very angry afterward, but our realtor told me Patti's a reasonable person and that I shouldn't judge the whole school based on one interaction with Michael. I thought that was fair. I waited a day to cool down and emailed Patti directly. I told her what happened and asked three basic questions: Who is Michael? Does he represent the school? Does she think the way he handled the situation was appropriate? She didn't answer any of them. Instead, Patti compared what we did to parking in someone's driveway and walking into their backyard. I don't think that's a fair comparison at all. We drove through the open gate of an operating business and stayed in what looked like its entrance and parking area. We didn't enter anyone's house or backyard. Of course Patti has the right to control access to her property. We left as soon as we were told to leave. But if nobody's able to enter without being enrolled or having an appointment, that should be clear at the entrance. Patti claimed there were signs around the property saying people couldn't enter unless enrolled. I later took photos from the road and still couldn't find that warning at the entrance. What I did see was a small "Welcome to Patti's Swim School" sign. Her email concluded, "I'm sorry if you took offense," and then informed us that the school had a waiting list and couldn't accommodate our children anyway. That doesn't seem like an apology to me. The waiting-list comment felt like an unnecessary, condescending jab. I made a point of not judging Patti's Swim School based only on Michael. I cooled down, contacted Patti privately and gave her a chance to address it. Her response is what ultimately made the decision for me. Again, I can't speak to the quality of the swimming lessons. I can only say that after this interaction and Patti's response, I wouldn't have the trust needed to leave my children in their care. I'm attaching photos of the entrance and screenshots of our redacted email exchange so people can read Patti's response and decide for themselves.

I had asked about the competition path last summer and was told our son had to learn the basics for about a year first. When we said we would like to cancel, all of a sudden, this competition "class" was an option. I suspect that this basically operates like a daycare with legos for most, and all the actual coaching gets saved for the few kids in competition.
