2024- Yelp 100 Challenge - #56 Okay, just wow! I thought this would just be a cool little spot to check out, but let me tell you, their Kolaches were fantastic! Oh, and don't overlook the blueberry donut (thank me later if you like blueberry ). I'm serious, we went twice over a two day period because they were that good. Customer Service was great. The lady taking orders and checking everyone out was friendly. Seating is limited so I recommend ordering to go, but there are tables available if you don't mind it.

Oh wow! We are so glad we visited this awesome donut/kolache shop in Broken Bow. We ordered the boudin and jalapeno cheddar sausage kolaches and they were divine. The sausage had a nice snap to the casing and was so flavorful. I am still craving that boudin kolache! It had a nice complex flavor profile that was very subtle and was lovely with a bit of mustard on it. Oh so very very good it was! Doughnut Theory specializes in cake donuts and I am a huge fan of those but will have to save for the next visit. The service is friendly and the cake donut flavors are aplenty! The atmosphere is great with uplifting music playing in the background and the owner tells the customers to have a blessed day. That is so nice to see. We will definitely return and look forward to trying those cake donuts!

We were driving thru this little town and we were lucky to have been served as they were closing. With that said , customer service was a 5 star and beyond. The donuts were delicious -fruity peebles was our favorite. The jalepano cheddar dogs and Boudin balls were delicious! Highly recommend.

    Busy place!!

AMAZING DOUGHNUTS!!!! Friendly family service fast and efficient. The cheddar jalapeño sausage roll was off the charts!!!!! Sooo good. A must stop in if you are in Broken Bow.

It's obvious that the scientists behind these glorious treats thoroughly taste-tested their doughnut hypothesis because their doughnut theory totally checks out. The flavors were intriguing and unique, the ingredients were REAL, the ambiance was quirky and fun, and the service was exceptional. I highly recommend the Spicy Hawaiian kolache and the Fruity Pebbles donut. We'll definitely be back!

Yummy donuts. Expensive. They have some picnic tables out front so we sat there to have our donuts. Our favorite was the blueberry!

Good people to deal with and the grandkids liked the selection of donuts! Second visit and both were the same. Good consistency.

The boudin was already sold out when we dropped in, but we were able to try jalapeno cheese and alligator sausage.

Tucked into the left-hand side of the modern Hochabow shopping center--right next to the chocolate shop--it's the kind of place that feels intentionally hidden, like it's saving itself for people who truly appreciate good coffee. The baristas are genuinely friendly in that effortless, warm way that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. You can tell they care about what they're doing, and it shows in the coffee: the beans are spot-on, balanced, and brewed with the sort of consistency that makes every sip feel purposeful. The space itself is cozy in the best possible sense--not cramped, but thoughtfully arranged so you can settle in with your laptop, linger over a cup, or just enjoy a quiet moment before heading back out into the world. It's a natural "stay awhile" spot, perfect for a few hours of work or an unhurried conversation. If you're in the Hochatown/Broken Bow area and want a place that feels like a calm, caffeinated retreat, Local Habit is absolutely worth the stop, in fact we went twice during our 4 day stay. It's the kind of coffee shop that becomes a part of your routine before you even realize it.

The staff are busy, busting each table with a small smile in hard-working attitude. You'd expect them to call you, hon, sweetheart, or get your order right sweetie. That decor/atmosphere is diner in Oklahoma feels. Breakfast is not served all day from 7 AM to 10:30 AM so we ran quickly and got there at 10:20 to order our veggie omelette with biscuits and gravy and an order short stack, and a cup of Joe. I was given the side eye when I was trying to mix my protein shake so remember this is Oklahoma not bougie or upscale healthy food vibes. They do serve lunch, which it quickly switched over at 10:30 only food I saw from then on out was lunch burgers and etc.. We asked a local word to eat, and this was basically the only place they said to come. You see yourself the waitress brings your menu then you just order, sit and chat then foods brought to you then you pay at the counter. I'd definitely come back. The food was as mentioned typical diner food and it hit the spot.

Right off the bat, their draft beer machine wasn't working, so we stuck with water and a soda. After being seated, there was a noticeable delay before our waitress came back. She explained she was dealing with an issue on another customer's credit card, which slowed things down. We started with the fried pickles. They were very good. Crispy, well-seasoned, and cooked right, but the portion felt a little light for an appetizer. For the main, we shared the Oklahoma country fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gravy. That was the highlight. The steak had a solid crust with good flavor, and everything on the plate was done right. No complaints there. Overall, the food was strong, especially the country fried steak, but the service and the draft beer situation held it back some. If they tighten that up, it'd be a much better experience.

The drinks were okay and very average - it wouldn't keep us away or bring us back! As an appetizer, we had the fried Swiss cheese. It was definitely different and interesting in comparison to your mozzarella, but it was cool to try! I wouldn't reorder. My husband had a 8oz. Sirloin with a side of corn and I had the chicken tenders with fries. The chicken tenders were delicious, but the frozen crinkle cut fries dampened the whole meal - for almost $20 for chicken tenders, I would've loved some house made or hand battered fries! The rolls with each meal were good, but could've used some butter! The steak was well cooked and the corn had good flavor! Everything was mediocre overall, we would likely come back on account of the chicken tenders, but wouldn't run back for anything else.
