After all of that, I was abruptly informed that management would not be proceeding and was given no explanation despite repeated requests. At best, this was a highly misleading and unprofessional leasing process. At worst, it raises serious concerns about how prospective tenants are treated. I would be very cautious about relying on representations that an apartment is yours or that a lease is moving forward based on what Chase Realty tells you.

It's very easy to get a Real Estate License but 90% of people holding a license really have no business in the Real Estate Industry--let me tell you. The Folan's have Real Estate in their blood. Their mom was an accomplished Broker that taught them how to sell. I wish I was born into their family. When I needed to sell a condo in NYC during a recession, there were no buyers and tons of distressed properties on the market. Most people told me not to sell--wait a few years--but I wasn't living in it and the monthly carrying charges were eating me alive! Before finding the Folans I hired (and fired) two other Agencies in Queens that did not know the first thing about how to sell a property! They let my condo languish for months telling me that there are no buyers--it's the wrong time! Then I spoke to a lawyer friend of mine in Manhattan--and he told me the only people in Queens that are going to be able to sell a condo right now are the Folans. To which I responded: "What are the Folans!?" "I need a Realtor I said--not a Band!" So I contacted them, and they just know how to find a buyer--they just have a way of doing it that is time tested--and my condo was sold within 2 months--they had 2 Buyers competing--after fussing with 2 other Agencies that promised me the world for 8 months that brought me nothing! And even better--they recommended a crack lawyer to do the closing. This guy was the best! So if you ask me--if I was selling a property in Queens--I would come here. Or you can go to any other agency in Queens if you really don't want to sell your property but just want to pretend it's for sale. Now I just want to say one last thing--while these ladies look good--you see their picture--they are as tough as nails and probably eat raw meat for dinner. I don't think you are going to get that touchy-feely service here--I did not feel that warm welcoming attitude that I usually look for--nor did I think they wanted any more business from me in the future--but you will get that focused attention to sell your property from professionals that live and breath this stuff.

As a first-time renters in NY who were not entirely certain of the kind of place in which we wanted to live, we found this to be particularly helpful in identifying what type of apartment we would ultimately choose to rent. Rebecca was incredibly responsive to all my communication and was able to answer any questions which arose throughout the process. When viewing apartments and speaking with her, it was clear that she is incredibly knowledgeable of the market, the array of neighborhoods in which we were looking, and the apartments themselves. Rebecca provided great insight without putting any pressure on us. From my interactions with a few other brokers, it became clear to me that many only have an interest in closing a deal -- even if it left the client discontent. This could not have been further from the truth for Rebecca; it is apparent that her sole objective is the satisfaction of the client. I was looking forward to connecting with Ms. Beaudoin as her reviews are very strong and the agency is in the neighborhood where I am currently shopping for a property. I have only been welcomed to several open houses with very positive experiences with realtors. Someone responded to my text and in fairness, I cannot be 100% sure it was Ms. Beaudoin, but it was her published number. I was told I could not attend the open house without a for a pre-approval letter. This resulted in a bit of a back and forth. The tone of the texts was aggressive and rude. Because I was taken aback, I wanted to clarify that I would not be allowed to attend the open house because I didn't want to discuss my finances with someone I had never had a conversation with or even met face to face. The response was, "well, do you have a pre-approval letter?" Then that exchange was followed with, was I working with an agent? It was a bit too much for a text introduction to make an appointment to attend an OPEN HOUSE! I do understand a realtor's position and if I asked to make an appointment for a private showing I wouldn't think it odd to produce a pre approval. However, this was an open house and there was no sort of professionalism in that exchange. It was really off putting and I thought about it for a few days before writing this review. However, this is just not how you treat people, especially in a relationship based business. I ended with the exchange stating that they were losing the potential of a great client financial and otherwise, thanking her for her time. About an hour later I did receive another text which ran on about how buildings are strict about financials and that after "asking my broker" I would be permitted to attend the open house and to let them know. Please, the level of condescending was so extra, I didn't need the favor, and one should not assume and/or underestimate the level of knowledge and intellect of another. It was really crazy. I never responded, having been so put off and disappointed by the exchange. Since the agency is in this realtor's name and assuming this might be the "broker" referenced in the text message, I cannot be sure with whom I was in communication with. However, there was no justification for what I experienced after a simple request to attend an open house. Whether my exchange was directly with Ms. Beaudoin or someone working for her it was simply not ok on any level.

The person I spoke with was super professional, straight speaking but kind, and took her time with me. Her advice however was really discouraging and quite absolute - I was so depressed after getting off the phone with her- she suggested that I might look for a room for him to rent somewhere because with a budget of $2,000 and low credit on his part; that no one would really want to work with that profile or mine as an out of state guarantor. Merely 12 days later, he is now set up with a lovely studio in a nice building, one block from the train in Sunnyside for $2,100. The moral of this story is as "professional" as the professionals may be, consult more than one. Some are more open, more nuanced, more willing to find solutions and more apt to think creatively than others. Find the individual realtor and the real estate firm that best fits your outlook.
