Dr. Lee diagnosed me with hepatitis C in 1988 at his Oak Lawn office. He put me on the highest dose of Interferon for a year, which was the only treatment available at the time. He told me the side affects would be Hell. I am so happy to report that 15 years later, I was given a clean bill of health by my primary care physician. I went to Dr Lee 's NP Trish Brown for 4 months first of all I waited two weeks before someone even called me back for an appointment. I had a CT scan a HIDA test and an MRIBut I never was really explained the results every time I called the doctor never called back I talk to the nurse several times and she said the last time that Dr Lee would call me back and that was two weeks ago and he never called back I have no idea how or what the results are of my MRI They gave me Pepcid medicine and told me to take it in that's the last I heard they do not follow up on their patients and I am very disappointed in the services of this doctor and I will never go to him again if he's in practice he should put a little more caring about the patients and get back to them or at least know what's going on read more

I was looking for a doctor within my network and found Dr. Douglas Lee. The facility is based out of New Lenox, called Southwest Gastroenterology, in the new Silver Cross facility. My problem is that the facility did not accept Medicare but the doctor did, but we had to work with a facility that would. Actually he was one of the few that was in-network with my insurance and medical facility/hospital, that was willing to do the procedure. It was a rare 'coming-together' if you know what I mean. I had a procedure done at the Presence Medical Center in Joliet. I had never met the doctor before, but I liked him right off the bat. He is kind, young, and has a manner that I was comfortable with. After my procedure he explained the results and I felt good about it. And his support staff were outstanding. They were genuinely kind and friendly, before, during, and after the procedure; unlike the other place I used to frequent. I'm glad I made the change. Doctors are usually not the kind of people you befriend; they serve a function, they bill you or your insurance and you rarely see them unless you're health is in trouble again. However, I felt that Dr Lee and I could be friends. Thank you Dr Lee for taking good care of me. read more

Very, Very happy with my decision to go with Dr. Lee for my first screening colonoscopy. He has a great bedside manner and is a very competent Doctor! I highly recommend him and also the facility Southwest Gastroenterology. Dr. Lee, the Anesthesiologist Lynn and the nursing staff: Tracy~RN, Michelle~RN, Alma~RN and Dee~RN were on point! Dr. Lee is a wonderful doctor, but, my God, the staff at the New Lenox office...absolutely horrible. If you work full time and cannot take a day off to see Dr. Lee, then not only can the staff NOT accommodate you, you will then be told that you will have to find a new doctor. All of this told to you in a snotty, cold, "we could care less" tone of voice. Thank God for Dr. Lee's staff at the Oak Lawn location, while I did indeed have to switch to another doctor in the practice who, thankfully, has hours after 5:00, the Oak Lawn staff was caring, kind and completely understanding regarding my inability to take a day off of work to see the doctor. If I can help it, I will NEVER recommend the New Lenox location for Dr. Lee to anyone, EVER, unless his staff receives some serious training regarding how to treat patients when they are calling to schedule an appointment!! read more

I loved Dr Lee until he incorrectly prescribed a medication that landed me in the hospital while I was on vacation. That was 5000.00 wasted Fortuately the physicians were able to reverse the toxic reaction I had before I bled to death. My platelets were so low sores in my mouth rashes on my hands very weak. Unfortunately after being with Dr. Lee for several years for my required biannual colonoscopy I am now looking for a new physician. Not only did he misdiagnosis me but he prescribed a medication which was contraindicated . Following the procedure I had pain at a scale of 10 (on a 1-10) and was unable to get a hold of him or his nurse even after several phone calls. Evidently the number of SW Gasto goes to an answering service and they don't feel a need to call patients back even when leave a voice message that it is urgent. So I ended up in the emergency room on Sunday 5 days after the procedure and 300 dollars poorer. I went to my General Practitioner on Monday to get the medication changed. The nurse/receptionist was the most obnoxious health care provider I have ever experienced. The whole experience I believe can be narrowed down to a good physicians coomprimising his standards in today's health care environment! read more
