cannot explain how thankful I am to Dr. Monasebian! I had a large traumatic lip injury and within days I was seen by Dr. Monasebian who performed a lip surgery. Dr. Monasebian would not return a surgery deposit of $500 to me because his "policy is not to return a deposit over a year". This was never communicated to me at the time of deposit. Dr. Monasebian was a total lifesaver for my family. He was referred to me by my pediatrician when my 6 year old daughter fell and cut her lip very badly. I called him his office at 8pm on a Monday night and he immediately returned my call and saved us an unpleasant trip to the emergency room- opening up his office and stitching up my daughter's badly lacerated lip. He was amazing with her and with us and was so kind and reassuring that he made a horrible situation bearable. In addition he did a fabulous job and now a week later my daughter is good as new. After having 2 children I ended up with a hernia and diastasis recti. My diastasis recti was huge! It was more than 7 fingers wide. Whenever I would try to sit up from laying on back I had the biggest football shape emerge from my stomach! Well I went to see Dr. Monasebian because a friend of mine used him for a hernia and tummy tuck and had great results and recovery. He was very informative during our initial consultation and advised me that whenever I was ready he would perform the surgery. He walked me through what would take place and the results I could expect. I went for a consultation November 2016 and had the surgery in June. I waited awhile before deciding to move forward (I used my tax return money to help pay for the part of the procedure that wasn't covered). The day of the surgery his team of nurses and anesthesiologist couldn't have been more comforting and assuring. The first week after the surgery was pretty painful but his team called regularly to check in on me. I actually called him on a Sunday because I was running out of medication and he returned my call within 10 minutes. Dr. Monasebian has been very kind and thoughtful throughout this entire process. Results - When I went to see Dr. Monasebian my stomach was HUGE, people would regularly offer me seats on the train because I still looked pregnant.... NOW I look great! My stomach is flat and I feel wonderful! I can wear clothes without hiding and my confidence has returned. I highly recommend Dr. Monasebian. His office manager Heather will walk you through the payment process and dealing with your insurance company. If you pay for the consultation visit it is deducted from the overall cost. read more

Slowly losing vision in the right eye. Also, I have been in chronic pain in my right eye, and I have been taping my eyes shut every single time I need to sleep, I am very stressed, and losing sleep due to the chronic pain, and the taping of the eyes. Also, taping when napping, and taping on the airplane, and being clever with sunglasses, when traveling is horrible. When I went back to Doctor Monasebian, after the surgery, for my first follow up and he removed the bandages, he immediately became nervous and jittery, and I said things don't look and feel right. He was very rude, extra nervous, and I had not been to a 2nd, or 3rd follow up yet with him. So it wasn't like I had been complaining, obviously he was already jumping the gun, because he knew he had already done something wrong. I even had a witness in the room for this follow up, my spouse. For the first surgery I was under general anesthesia, sleeping. For the second surgery I chose local anesthesia, awake, because he was supposedly correcting something, and since things didn't go right for the first surgery, being under this local anesthesia I could watch what he was doing. Because I was awake, I was able to see that Doctor Monasebian did something very strange, he mashed down on my eyeball several times, and I thought, Im not a doctor, but this doesn't seem normal. After checking with another plastic surgeon, I was informed that mashing down on the eyeball is not normal, and it is not something one must practice under any circumstances. After this surgery things were still not corrected, so I sought for advice from other plastic surgeon's. One plastic surgeon had to pointe out to me, that I must tape my eyes shut, because Doctor Monasebian did not inform me, that my eyes were not closing properly, after his botched surgery. Thanks to this surgeon, I now know why my eyes were in chronic pain, and bloodshot all the time, because the doctor took off too much skin. Other problems that arose from the bad surgery. After surgery my eye was swollen like a baseball, and Doctor Monasebian said it was normal. Other surgeon's said the eye will never swell like that, and obviously Doctor Monasebian didn't know what he was doing. Right eye always dripping, Doctor Monasebian said that's normal, other surgeon said, is he crazy? My eyes are still red and blood shot all throughout the day. Whenever I lay down on my right side, there is a sharp pain in my right eye. Soars and scabs around the eyes from taping them shut everyday. Another plastic surgeon evaluating the surgery said to me, "is Doctor Monasebian a real plastic surgeon?" read more

I consulted Dr. Monasebian not due to a medical necessity but plain vanity. It is true that one of my doctor friends did mention that more than likely my end of day eyestrain was partially caused by my heavy upper eyelids. My eyes drooped and I looked just old and worn out. The fact is that my "bag eyes" also reminded me of my father and grandmother and I thought I looked tired all the time. I did consult a doctor in my region, but it seems that eye procedures were just another operation he performed. I wanted someone that was more specialized and experienced. I don't believe in advertising claims, photo books of specific patients, or self promoted articles in limited edition magazines. What I wanted was a doctor that was recommended by someone in the medical community that had used the doctor. My favorite source of recommendations is nurses as I have found them blunt and opinionated- and have no conflicts of interest brought on by patient referrals. The recommendation was two (2) procedures; Forehead or Browlift lift and Eyelid Blepharoplasty. In order to fix my eyes it was necessary to work on the upper and lower lids. The operations went smoothly and within a few days the stiches were removed from my brow. There was minimal bruising or swelling and within a week I was able to get out and hide most of the effects behind glasses. Within six weeks all the bruising was gone and when I returned home- not one person noticed a change. The only comments were that I looked good or "had a good nights sleep". That was the desired effect that Dr. Monasebian mentioned in the initial interview. Along with the bag eyes I had a tree stump neck. Ok- it was not the "no neck" sort, but a total failure of definition of jaw line. The solution was neck liposuction and it was much less painful and the final result was a more clear definition of my jawline. The swelling was minimal but it was two months for one area to finally become flat. I followed the pre and post surgery instructions and took only 1 of the pain pills. The only suggestion I would make is to get a larger gel pad to ice your eyes. I found one that covered both eyes and most of my brow at one time. For the first few days the rotation of cold on and off your face seems to make the difference. The last question might be " Would I do it again?" The answer is yes. read more

I went to see Dr. Monasebian because I had developed a problem with my c-section scar, ten years after the fact. I was not only unhappy with the way it looked, but built up scar tissue had become painful wearing certain clothing, anything that fastened around the waist with a button, snap or zipper. Not only did Dr. Monasebian completely understand my concerns, he supported the fact that I should be happy with my appearance, and that alone was reason to correct the problem. I am NOT going to try to restrain myself in the least in this review of this DEFORMER mangler Douglas Monasebian, MD. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK! I was newly moved to NYC and came to him in early 2014 for botox and restylane filler in my lips. I paid 3,000 - yes, 3,000 - for botox for my forehead and 2 syringes of restylane in my lips. I have been to many Dr's in many diff states over the past decade, i know these procedures well. He took me into his personal office and began asking me questions from behind his large desk, which was beyond bizarre, since a "consultation" would require actually seeing my face and injection areas. In the injection room, after injecting me for the numbing, and while i was laying back in the procedure chair fully numbed, his office worker entered and demanded full payment on the spot there, PRIOR to the procedure. I complied. And proceeded. In short, I went home deformed, mangled, BAD. People are diff, but chemistry and physiology are NOT. Restylane doesn't make lips SMALLER or GONE! He deformed my upper lip, getting RID of an entire side of one lip entirely. Upon inspection a few days later, he and his young - young - female assistant, sneered at me, saying, yeah well, "it turned up" my smile - having 1/2 my lip GONE! Also, a large crooked lump ended up BELOW the lip line entirely. And botox can have a reaction, but NOT lopsided eyebrows! And, my eyes were deeply sunken and dark. WORSE, the product intended for my nasal folds was instead up into the area below my eyes, creating not only huge NEW wrinkles aside my nose, but swollen under my eye, created massive wrinkles and sunkeness that had NOT been there! A TOTAL AND COMPLETE NIGHTMARE!!!!!! There is NO other explanation for the hideous results and deformation, than INTENT. I had to go to another midtown NY dr for 2 visits to begin to repair and RESTORE my lip after 2 syringes and 3gs were used to DEFORM me, and thankfully, over a month and 2 g's more, the line was restored. THIS MAN is UNETHICAL, his office culture is UNETHICAL. You may be one he likes or one he DEFORMS. AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!! I HAVE pics btw, there is NO mistaking how aweful this was. I actually came here after my toddler son cut his foot wide open and had a deep and long jagged wound. The doctor and the office were absolutely wonderful. They saw us first thing and were very child friendly. Dr. Monasebian spent a lot of time with us and stitched up the massive wound quickly and as painlessly as possible and had a great bedside manner. Extremely disappointed with Dr. Monasebian. First of all, the secretary was not amicable in the slightest, with an extremely cold demeanor. Came in for a consultation - he spent 5 minutes with me, half of the time telling me that my insurance likely would not cover the costs, and proceeded to charge me 370 dollars (!!!!!) for his speck of time. Totally not helpful or informative, and outrageously exorbitant. I went to a different plastic surgeon the next week (with Dr. Dana Khuthaila, M.D.) who gave me a FREE CONSULTATION and 10x more information. Also she seemed genuinely concerned about my condition, not simply going through the motions with the assurance of getting paid. She also gave me information that directly contradicted things Dr. Monasebian told me. Please, please choose carefully when getting consultations with plastic surgeons, since you can get a number of free consultations and they might be far more informative than Dr. Monasebians. read more
