So, so lucky that we, as occasional visitors to the area decided to explore Doug's Seafood. We visit to eat on every trip and this time we'll go twice! This is a very simple, order at the counter, eat it served hot, neighborhood treasure! The food? It is FABULOUS! A lot of foo-foo expensive restaurants need to take cooking lessons here! The breaded fsa food choice is so lightly done that nothing mars the texture or great fresh flavor of the original item. Onion rings - breaded light and delicately, hand cut and crispy. Blackened seafood is lightly dusted with good seasonings, and cooked just right! This is not a fancy place, but an honest, down-home good food restaurant. We had heard and read a lot of good things about Doug's so we were excited to try it. It was a busy Friday night so we ordered takeout. We got 4 baskets: triple tail, crabcakes, oysters and fish and chips. The crab cakes were disappointing--a lot of stuffing and not much crab. The fish and chips were just kinda meh. The triple tail was good, and the oysters were best of this group. As we ordered, we decided we wanted onion rings and were told they would be substituted. Nope. Didn't happen. Also when we arrived at the pick up time, the fish and chips were not done and we had to wait 10 minutes for it while the rest of the order got cold. Overall-- no I don't see any reason to rush back. Doug's has always been my favorite go-to for a lobster roll fix. I used to take the food to go because the dining area was uninspiring, but it has recently been renovated and is now super cute inside, with a beachy nautical theme. The restaurant is located in a nondescript strip mall on Bonita Beach Road and you'd never know it was there if you didn't seek it out. There is lot of parking in the lot in front. The menu is quite large, and although I've only had the lobster rolls (simply cannot deviate - they are that good), and sure the rest of the menu is equally good. The lobster rolls come in 2 sizes. The large is a better deal on a per ounce basis (it has 8 oz of lobster vs 4 oz in the small). And it comes in cold with mayo or hot with melted butter. Both are SO good. It comes with a side of coleslaw and homemade potato chips. The fries , which are an upgrade, are the best I've ever had, light and crispy. Service is always friendly and the food comes out quickly. All I can say is Doug's IS BACK! Last year was disappointing both in terms of service/friendliness and quality. Yesterday's visit was back to the "old Doug's" where both food and service were fantastic. We had the scallops grilled, the whole-belly clams fried, and and order of onion rings and lobster wontons. Everything was served hot and perfectly booked. The staff checked on us multiple times to make sure we were happy and we assured her we were. The place was very busy and we were there about 2 pm but no long wait at all. So glad for the fantastic experience! read more

We got the clam chowder and lobster sliders, 2 hot and 2 cold. Clam chowder was thick and full of clams. Very good and hearty. The sliders had a nice scoop of lobster in each. Very fresh and good. Not as intimate, Doug's has been renovated and now has a mix of tables and booths, which gives the impression that the capacity has increased. Which I ma sure it has. We were lucky to have arrived when there was no line. By the time we finished ordering, the line had grown. When we left the place, the line was huge. I asked when the establishment was updated and was told a year ago. Well, I haven't been there as often as I thought. I ordered the large lobster roll with butter and a cup of Manhattan clam chowder. I prefer the Manhattan style. The deal of the day and every day is Fish and Chips for $14.00, a great value. Of the party of four, the other three had Fish and Chips. We have gone to Doug's since we moved to SW Florida almost 10 years ago. The owners have changed but food is still wonderful. We went last weekend again and both of us had the fried clams instead of our usual lobster rolls. As always we enjoyed our meal and the owners are wonderful. We didn't have kids with us but I remarked to my husband how much I enjoyed the children's area the owners added during renovations. The owners are always friendly, attentive and make us feel at home. We are originally from the Boston area and are picky about our seafood. Doug's never disappoints. read more

My last visit to Doug's Seafood. Simply because the service was unacceptable. My to go order took 35 minutes, just for a lobster roll and fried clams. Yes, they were busy, but many other people were served much quicker. When I said something to the owner, his response was unprofessional and he showed no sense of urgency. In fact he was downright disrespectful. There are too many other great places to visit in Bonita Springs to be treated like this. Added after the response: You continue your attitude, next time try to be nice and respectful instead of disparaging a paying customer. Even your reply is mean spirited. This place is a hidden gem, tucked away in a plaza on Benita Beach Road , GREAT FOOD ! Doug's Seafood is a hole in a wall restaurant. In search for places to eat while visiting Bonita Springs and this restaurant was on the top list in Yelp. Glad we visited and tried this place. Staff are friendly from order takers and cooks/ servers. We ordered Gumbo and Fish Chowder (salty) for starters and Shrimp Quesadilla and Calamari Basket for entrees. Foods are tasty and delicious. Noticed lots of locals are picking up to go meals. Worth for a visit when you're touring Bonita Springs or going to the beach. Overall a 5 Stars Ratings. read more

Doug's is a hidden jewel with quality fresh seafood cooked to order. We were graciously welcomed by the owner with a smile on his face. He also honored my father, a Vietnam Veteran, and thanks him for his service. This owner is a class act and his staff works hard to keep everything perfect. We enjoyed delicious scallops, grouper platters (one blackened) and clam chowder, which was loaded with fresh clams. The sides of Cole slaw and fries were also excellent. Delicious! We had fried haddock. So good! The side dishes were were very good. Cole slaw was crunchy and not overdressed. The onion rings were wonderful. I had potato salad instead of fries for a small upcharged. It was great. The portions generous. The people were super sweet. The dining room is cheerful. Prices reasonable. The seafood is FRESH!
