I had fried oysters even though I saw the fried shrimp going by and I'm still having buyers remorse over that decision. The oysters were a tad greasy and didn't have a ton of flavor, but those onion rings were some of the BEST I have ever had. Didn't care for the coleslaw. My friends both had soft shell crabs and loved them. The baked sweet potato was tasty as they give you some brown sugar to sprinkle on top. Steamers is one of our favorite restaurants. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. We dine there several times during the season. But my complaint is this. It is less than clean. The sidewalk is coated with grease and could be remedied with a good power wash. The outside chairs and tables are rusting. The inside furniture and carpet are worn, The restrooms need attention. Gourmet seafood in a diner? I've lived over 20 yrs in Naples and tried Steamers today for the first time. Mains came in small or large sizes with 2 sides. My blackened swordfish was perfectly cooked but very lightly seasoned so the flavor of the filets came through well. The restaurant was crazy busy at 12:30pm on a Lenten Friday, but the service didn't suffer at all. Staff was very friendly and efficient. So tonight we ate a local claim to fame Main style Seafood and they did not disappoint. We started with fried clam stips that were so fresh and tasty you just wanted to ask for more. My girl ordered the lobster roll which she thoroughly enjoyed sighting how esquit the bread was. I ordered the scallops which were cooked very nicely. It was very, very good. I had their fried oysters with onion rings and coleslaw. The gulf oysters were lightly battered and meaty. The thin onions rings (which had been recommended online) were worth the extra calories. Loved the oysters and really liked the rings. Even the coleslaw was my kind -- slightly sweet and not too much mayo. My husband had their salad with fried haddock on top. The salad was quite large and had two perfectly cooked fish fillets on top. He really liked his meal as well. I saw some folks with steamers. They said the whole belly clams were very good -- what they order there all the time. I'd like to try these. Maybe next time I'm in the area. The prices are up there -- but it is Naples. Plus seafood is not inexpensive these days. So it was a bit more expensive than we'd normally do for lunch -- but worth the splurge and the drive. read more

We were all pretty hungry (only Wifey and my daughter tonight-my son got sunburned and stayed home). Wifey and I started with a couple Shock Tops and we ordered. We got Hush puppies and 1 pound of steamers to start and we each also had a cup of chowder...Wifey had the Half and half chowder, I had the Seafood chowder and my daughter had the NE clam chowder. My daughter wasn't a fan of the steamers because they weren't little necks like she's used to (even after a warning by the waitress), but Wifey and I liked them. For our meals, Wifey got the Baked Grouper dinner with a baked potato and salad, I got the Stuffed baked haddock with a baked potato and salad and my daughter got the Fried shrimp w fries and onion rings. Wifey and my daughter liked their meals, but mine was just so-so. Potato was underdone and the haddock was over done...stuffing was just a cornbread stuffing and was pretty dry.
