A year ago, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Being that it is slow growing, I spent a couple months researching the best course of treatment, given the biopsy results. To my surprise, many urologists/oncologists do a "hard sell" on the treatment they suggest. Some were downright pushy. One, I walked out of. To my relief, Dr Randy Sorum did not make a hard sell. A couple different radiation based options were presented. We discussed non-radiation treatments as well. In the end, it was my choice (borrowing a line from the feminists : "it's my body! I have a right to choose.") Last summer I went through 5 weeks of daily external radiation. This was followed by two high dose internal zaps of my prostate. I can't praise the staff and Dr Sorum enough for their professionalism and what used to be called bedside manner. I actually looked forward to my daily zapping and those who zapped me (zap is probably not an acceptable medical term). Each day was like having coffee with friends. Six months later, all is clear and my body is doing right on what Dr Sorum said it would as it recovers from the radiation. I can't ask for more than that. Other than I am a little disappointed I don't glow in the dark. (-;

I saw the nurse practitioner the first visit, who I did like. She ordered some x-rays. and was very empathetic. I was under the impression that this was a follow up with the doctor, who would proceed further with the course of action I had talked about (at length) in my hour visit the week prior. Boy was I wrong! This doctor entered the room early, while the nurse was still taking my vitals. He introduced his intern/ med student, by insulting her school in an awkward joke. Then he asked what I was "in there for today." He very obviously handn't even looked at my chart. But before I was able to answer fully, he launched into a loud aggravated tirade about how, "Obama ruined his ability to do his job by requiring evidence based medical treatment." He ended the lecture by staring at me and demanding that I agree with him. I tried to redirect by saying I agreed that insurance companies make it very difficult to get procedures and tests approved. Then after a short couple sentences related to the x-rays, he asked me "so where do you think your neuropathy comes from." I said, "I think it's a result of my lupus." He belly laughs," Oh you're one of the lucky whites with an autoimmune disorder." aren't you lucky! Then he started on a history lesson about the black plague in Europe, which explained why "Whites get auto immune illnesses more than THE Blacks." and How it actually comes from our superiority and adaptability through natural selection and the plague. Again he stars at me like some maniacal college professor and asks, "how did the plague travel from the east to the west? (pause) Go on! take a guess! try!" I said, "trade routs." "YES! good job!" then another few minutes of The blacks the whites and the asians.... a little cursing. Then he says," and why did whites travel so much? because we're more curious than the blacks. and because of this we're more prone to addiction. especially heroin. (looking me dead in the eye) Don't ever try heroin. Me, "ok." At this point I wanted to ask, "BUT are you on it now? Maybe they need to Pee test you." (They are very big on pee testing everyone.) He asks his intern to go see if they can find the MRI of my back. They couldn't find it. So it's another round about Obama and how "in the good old days he could just give me a shot in my back based on where the pain is in relation to his nerve chart, but now we need EVIDENCE based medicine. so there's nothing he can do today. But they'll try again to get the MRI, or maybe order a new one." and maybe they'll focus on my knee pain because that's easier, but we'll need an x-ray for that. and.... that's it. That's what my $40 copay and the hour drive to olympia got me today. I left just gobsmacked - what just happened? I'm still in disbelief. And he talked sooo fast! It was absolutely insane.

She was able to get out some pesky knots that have been there for awhile. The first time in years my body has felt that at ease. The atmosphere was calm and soothing which made the experience that much more relaxing. I felt like a new person when she had finished her service. Doctor Mark was able to get me adjusted and aligned with with little effort. One of the best chiropractors I've been to. He not one of those chiropractors who wants to get you in and out fast so he can make a quick buck. He'll spend time with you to make sure your adjustment is correct. The staff there is friendly and personable. They really make you feel at home.

Dr. Yan Geng needs to be evaluated in whether or not she has the bandwidth for the clients she treats. She's unable to discuss more than a singular issue in an appointment after showing up into the room a half hour later. The other reviews on her competency lines up 110% with our experience. In past phone calls with office manager Dale R, he stated that Pioneer Family Practice has taken on too many clients per doctor, and the quality of client care absolutely shows that. Dale R refused to give his full name after yelling in our faces when we took a photo of Dr. Yan Geng's name on the wall, a spelling which is uncommon. We should've known taking a picture of our doctor's name would've resulted in being kicked out and Dale R's face becoming inches from ours. Good luck to any present patients, our now retired doctor told us to leave before the transfer to Dr. Yan Geng. We wish we had listened, it would have saved huge headaches and some hope for the future of Pioneer Family Practice

My wife is being treated by Dr Ali Dadla and team for breast cancer…read more As we are finding, a lot of information is thrown at the patient and family all at once. No one goes to school for this. There is a ton of information to absorb and make decisions on. Dr Dadla's explanation of what her cancer is and the treatments for it is very complete and clear. That has been a huge help. He also is coordinating surgeries and imaging such as implanting a cath port and facilitating a discussion with a surgeon about the surgeries coming up. A super strength in this practice is his team. Obviously, my wife's cancer is not their first such patient. The nurses who fill in the blanks are readily available to answer questions are great. At first there were scheduling problems (they use a central scheduling system with their other clinics that leaves some things to be desired). Once the Oly team got on it, all solved. Special special props to the chemo ladies! The chemo is dosed in house. The two nurses who administer the medicines, Jo and Amy, have been working together in various other capacities and read each other's minds on what needs to be done. They are so positive and full of energy as can be. The process is not a downer by any means. In fact, my wife's reaction to her first two chemo's is it was like a party! Who knew chemo could be so fun, she said. When you are scared to death about the cancer diagnosis, it is so comforting the team gives you a "Don't worry. We got this!" feeling.
