After multiple visits I wasn't getting much better so I decided to stop and try another avenue for my pain. I can see a need for physical therapy in many situations so this is not the reason for the 1 star - it is their billing practices that I have come to detest. After stopping in April I continue to receive bills from them for every month through July for the same 5 appointments. The amount kept increasing for these same visits - they claimed it was due to my insurance but when I called my insurance they said they had made my plan clear as to what they owe and what I would owe to the clinic. The back and forth is irritating and I am not saying my insurance is blameless but the responses I receive from the clinic are nonresponsive and without much of an explanation - they simply don't know what's going on. I can understand one bill that would need to resolve differences between insurance and patient payments but to continue every month for the same 5 visits several months in the past is simply incompetence. Overall I would go back for the therapy itself but because of their billing practices I would never go back again.

I mainly worked with Dan Lombardi, but I was also occasionally scheduled with Veronica Downs. Gale from the front desk was always super helpful in regards to working with me and my schedule and finding me time slots. Before I had injured myself, I used to love to run, but after I couldn't jog or even walk one block before having to hobble back home in defeat. Dishes being my main chore at home, was painful to stand more than 30 minutes or even lay down for extended periods of time. I have always had a bad lower back due to being born with a tethered spinal cord and having surgery to correct it when I was an infant. What brought me to SPT Dover was I hurt my lower back on an Assault Runner in the gym this past winter. It felt like my hips and spine were compressing on my nerves, thus, shooting pain down my left leg whenever I'd sit, stand, lay down, etc. When I finally was able to find a new PCP, I was recommended/ referred to Somersworth Physical Therapy; partially because of their glowing reputation, but also because it was conveniently in the same building. Dan also took my initial financial concerns seriously from the start of my intake- I didn't want to spend a fortune on PT, nor did I have a fortune to spend on it... but I was also determined to get rid of my pain by any means necessary. I took doing my homework exercises seriously and it genuinely made a difference in both my pain level and recovery timeline. While I believe that dry needling definitely aided in loosening my compressed scar tissue, it also was unfortunately not covered by insurance. However when it came time, Dan remembered by initial concerns and suggested we just give it 4-5 sessions- if it didn't work or help, we'd stop. Through various exercises, stretches, massage, Graston massage, cupping, and dry needling we were able to get my lower back back to normal. I was even able to continue working out at my CrossFit gym by just eliminating or scaling certain movements with Dan's guidance. I was able to "graduate" from PT in approximately 13 sessions from late June through August. Highly recommend the Somersworth PT Dover office! They are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Hopefully I don't need PT again anytime soon, but if I do, I'd definitely return to SPT Dover.

Early February I dislocated my finger and received 8 weeks of treatment by Exeter (NH) OT…read more Dissatisfied with the results, I consulted a specialist at Beth Israel, who recommended continued therapy. I called Kate at Hampton PT for an OT recommendation/referral. When I described my injury she said that she could provide treatment. What a difference!!!! The therapy that I have received at Hampton PT (by Kate) is by far superior to the previous treatment at Exeter. At Hampton PT, I get a full hour of treatment that include at least 30 minutes of intense treatment by the therapist. The results have been significantly positive. At Exeter, the treatment by the therapist was minimal; maybe 20 minutes of low to moderate treatment by the therapist. The difference is like night and day. I only wish that I had started with Hampton PT at the onset of my injury. Two years ago I was treated at Hampton PT for a herniated disc. Again, the treatment I received as awesome! I avoided surgery and was able to return to all of my activities (Golfing, gardening, etc.) I can't write enough positive comments about Hampton PT. Thank you! Thank you!

I started going to the ladies at Kate Schwartz when I was put into an air-cast (still non weight bearing). After every single visit, I walk out feeling like I could run a mile. They not only helped me to reduce the swelling/increase range of motion in my ankle, but also identified what was wrong with my knee! Something that the doctors could not identify. I continue to be amazed by the amount of knowledge these ladies have and how quickly they've helped me get back on my feet and back to normal activity. I am hoping I never have another injury like this, but if I do, I will come back to this team in a heartbeat!

But my shoulder injury was 10 years in the making. When we are given guidance to relax those shoulders down and away from our ears AND WE DON'T LISTEN, then you stand where I am now. Nine months out and still with pain and impingement. But thanks to Melissa's encouragement, patience, and strategies of hope, I'm slowly building strength, teaching my body how to relax. Dry needling is a wonderful path to relieving tension, and added bonus, reducing facial puffiness. When we don't listen to our bodies, they will force us to listen, especially if we are on a journey toward healing and trying to listen to what our bodies need. I'm so glad I followed my gut and signed up for sessions with Melissa and I'm so glad she is trained in the Mackenzie style of Physical Therapy. It should be required training for all physical therapists.
