It turned out that it wasn't that long, but anything could have happened - he was loose and could have been hit by a car, grabbed by a coyote, or picked up by someone not as kind as the people who found him. Imagine landing from a trip and turning on your phone to a message from a strange (but kind!) man with a Santa Barbara area code saying he had your dog that they'd found running scared in the street - my mom was hysterical. They tried to slough it off and when they knew how upset I was, both Kristen & her husband started using rather foul language - they were the ones who lost the dog! I also question if they are licensed to board dogs in a residential neighborhood. I was shocked to find out a day or so later they had asked my mom to pay the entire bill! Incredible nerve after putting her through that trauma. She paid it "as she was afraid they would sue her." I discussed with Kristen calmly and she agreed to reduce it by 50% and refund my mom the difference. Then she started trying to renegotiate and offered only 1 night off "per her business consultant." Kristen has tried to contact my mom repeatedly, including going to her home, after my mom has not responded and I have asked her not to several times, and this is definitely verging on elder abuse. My mom is so upset, she says she'll never travel or board him again. As of today, over 3 weeks later, still no refund to my mom for their incredible negligence. I also noticed, as Brian S. did, that other than my mom's review in Sept, before they lost Reggie and when we still liked & trusted them, all other reviews are very old and refer to the previous owners.

Krista put me at ease immediately with asking in depth questions about my dogs tendencies, behaviors, and personality. We have only left him once at a farm kennel and I was worried that his high energy may be too much to handle with other dogs. She described the dogs that were staying the weekend and told me to plan on booking with her, even though she had not met Milton yet. Krista and I spoke for well over 20 minutes and she said that if she was at all concerned, she would not book us because she typically doesn't take boxers due to their escape artist jumping style. He is a 2 yr old boxer mix with SO much energy yet noise phobia diagnosed by our trainer Jennifer McCarthy. We arrived on Friday afternoon and Milton met the other pups one at a time. He showed some weird territorial behavior so we stayed for a bit to correct it. She was so calming and reassuring and after a tour of her home we snuck out the back so Milton wouldn't watch us leave. He was playing so well with the other 2 dogs of his size and she made sure to keep the smaller dogs in a different area. We got so many photos and updates I was super happy and relaxed. Krista even let us book Milton an extra day! From the mouth of a professional dog sitter, and my partner has his own dog walking company, we both highly recommend Krista's services! She was also aware on our first meeting that pugs can overheat easily (due to their short noses) and made it a point to say that she would be careful with them on hot days. She came over before I ever used her services for a meet and greet to understand my needs and to meet my pugs. I believe she is expanding her services also to Huntington Beach soon. He did love the doggy daycare but when I picked him up from Bone Adventure Boarding where he stayed two nights on Sunday evening my dog was very ill. He got two ear infections, paws red itchy, and bloody. He seemed traumatized and very ill. I took him to the vet and they had put him on antibiotics, they gave him steroids and allergy shots and it's still 16 days after and his paws are not healed and my puppy is getting worse and lots and lots of vet bills. It is worth it to pay for a dog sitter.

Our dogs and cat loved her, and it gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were with someone who treats them with that level of care and attention. One of our dogs takes a couple medications, and Brooke was incredibly responsible and precise about making sure everything was given correctly and on schedule. She followed all of our feeding routines and instructions carefully, and whenever something wasn't completely clear she reached out to ask questions and clarify instead of guessing. That level of communication meant a lot to us and really reassured us while we were away.
