This review is long overdue! Our dog does daycare and overnight boarding with Dog Republic. This place was recommended by a friend of ours who also uses them for daycare and overnight boarding. I think context is a lil important. Our dog is a German Sheppie rescue off the euthanasia list after 3 failed adoptions before us and had a history of abuse with her first owner. It took several years for her to be trained to a point where she can just step outside and go for a walk. We struggled finding understanding daycares who would actually take the time to understand Berlin (our dog) instead of outright rejecting her. She's SUPER skiddish and shy and growls / barks to make space. We call her a "special case." Once she trusts, she's a love bug but it just takes time. The Dog Republic Team is so special to us because they understood Berlin. We never felt like they were judging us as dog owners because of how she initially behaves when meeting new people (especially men). They took the time to meet us at our level. They are TRUE dog people. We can't say enough good things about the team at Dog Republic. Berlin had a hard time accepting going to daycare the first couple times but now she even tries to boop open the gate to get inside when we arrive! She comes back tired and happy. The daycare has an open yard and she has a chance to socialize with other dogs. She completed TWO overnight stays with Dog Republic. We have never been able to have her board anywhere mostly because of our own trust issues. We don't have any doubts with Dog Republic! They follow her feeding schedule and we feed her Farmer's Dog. When my Great Dane had an unexpected medical emergency, they acted immediately--calling me right away, taking him to the vet, keeping me updated every step of the way, and even waiting until I landed and got to the hospital. We love Dog Republic! My little West Highland White Terrier has been going to Dog Republic since she was a puppy! The owner Kevin is amazing with her. They taught her how to walk on a leash and many other great behavior things. We use them for pack walks 3x per week, day care, overnights, and grooming! They truly offer it all. One thing that I absolutely love is their Dog House and how it is free roam. The house is kept up well and very clean. We are busy working and Dog Republic makes it so convenient as they will come pick up your dog, take them on a walk/to the dog house, and then drop them back off at your house. I mentioned they also do grooming. We were going somewhere else but they continued to give our dog razor burn on her stomach. We realized that Dog Republic actually had grooming, so we decided to give it a try. They actually give our dog the best haircut we have ever had. The app is amazing you can book so easy. I adopted my dog Kiwi a few years ago who is such a sweet dog but would bark and lunge at other dogs on our walks. After some time I had to come up with a solution. I would see the Dog republic bus all around town so I decided I'd give them a call. It was such a good decision. My dog received training, he goes on pack walks AND he gets groomed by them! I learned a lot in dog training which has helped me on our walks. Shayne the young lady who takes him on pack walks really loves dogs. She's so sweet to kiwi. We had adopted Coco, our little pit/lab/dachshund mix, from the shelter back in January. She is great with people, but with other dogs was another story. She was extremely fearful and would bark non-stop if any dog would get near her. Our trainer, Vladae from So Cal Dog Training, recommended that we take her to Dog Republic to help with her socialization. When I brought her in for the initial temperament evaluation, I'll admit that I was a little nervous that she wouldn't get in because of her fear and anxiety around other dogs since it is a cage free environment. I met with Kevin and he said that Coco was indeed a special case, but he assured me that they would take her in and would be able to help her. I signed up on the spot and enrolled Coco for day camp and obedience sessions with Kelly twice a week. Now, here we are, three weeks and 7 obedience sessions in, and I swear this isn't the same dog. Coco is walking with and and even playing with other dogs! She has calmed down a ton and the barking has stopped. She is definitely a more confident pup now. The progress has been amazing to watch. They send pictures and videos of her at camp, and I can't help but to share and show everyone... So proud! Thank you Dog Republic for giving Coco a chance and helping her out of her shell. This isn't your typical doggy daycare, this is a pack walk day camp with employees that want your dog to succeed. We started taking Billie here a couple weeks ago after we adopted her and realized that she wasn't the most dog social. We tried a couple daycares, some were too lax and continuously let her misbehave, while some were too strict and didn't want to help us socialize her. I found Dog Republic because of their pack walk specialty, but since we're not in service area she can't be picked up. That was ok with us, we just drop her off and she gets to play in the yard and also go on a pack walk. For those of you with dogs that are not well dog socialized, pack walks are amazing to help dogs develop appropriate dog social skills. You are having your dog learn leash manners while learning to be around other dogs in a controlled way. Billie had her off days and sometimes did not react the nicest to other dogs. The people here are so patient with her and they really put a lot of effort into helping her become a better dog. I can already see improvement in her dog social skills and I really have to thank Dog Republic for it. She is always excited to go, and when she comes back from DR she is always in a super good mood so I know she had a great time. Thank you team for taking care of Billie! One thing I do wish is to get more pictures and videos of her at camp and on walks. Never again. Profit over pups. To this day I still don't know what trauma she went through. Owner Kevin would not pay vet bill and still charged me for three days! He's hands off and wants your money. I'm will hire a lawyer if it means saving other dogs. Animal control can't do anything until legal action is taken and have proof. They will not show me footage and threatened me to take down my posts. Please stop using them. They don't care. No one supervises. Only a license required and $16.00 an hour to work there. They walk 8 dogs at a time old and young. It's now become greed! I've gotten so many DM's about dogs dying and hurt in their care. Yelp will not be my only review. I have put my puppy and I through private training, group training and even drove 2 hours to Ramona for a specialist trainer and no of these things I paid for helped her reactivity. Once we did the assessment with DR, they suggested to do weekly pack walks and day care. We are now going on month 2 and love it. DR is super responsive and are so easy to work with. From signing up to dropping off and picking up they make it a stress free time and I trust them with my pup. She is growing up in leaps and bounds and this is more than I could do for her on my own. Well, I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kevin and the Dog Republic. Our Sheepadoodle, Dash is a different dog now thanks to Kevin's professional training, daycare and pack walks every week. Dash was extremely reactive to most dogs and on his hind legs when passing other dogs on our walks. Combined with training from Vladae at SoCal Dog Training, and Kevin's magic...Dash no longer has aggressive tendencies and plays beautifully with other dogs. I never in a million years ever thought Dash would walk alongside other big dogs, much less drive in a van where all the dogs are not crated and are close together. Kevin even met us at the first dog park Dash had been at in 3 years just to make sure he was ok and socializing nicely. We used Dog Republic for about five years or so for pack walks. Everything was great for the most part. Their last walk with Brandon followed by a sad customer experience was enough to lose complete trust. We caught Brandon, one of their walkers, going through our cabinets on our security cameras and it sounded like he went through the fridge too. It's completely inappropriate. We sent the footage to Dog Republic and they said he was looking for treats to give our dogs. We've never given permission to feed our dogs anything, none of the other walkers have done that, and it's just very odd. We accepted the answer anyway and expected it to not happen again. However, I noticed one of our dogs came back with a puncture wound on his neck that ended up requiring a vet visit where they found another puncture wound and confirmed it was consistent with a dog bite. We were never notified of any incident from Dog Republic. I emailed their customer service and they had the nerve to blame our senior dog of rough play. You know your dogs and you know how they play- this was certainly not caused by the other one. I noticed the fresh wound after their walk, I check security cameras everyday all over the house & would've seen any incident, and they're never left alone together unsupervised. There was zero accountability from Dog Republic and it was super disappointing and negligent. The response both times to my concerns was clearly to cover themselves and make sure they're not liable. On top of their walker searching through our things, we decided to cut ties with them. read more

People who work with dogs should actually like dogs and be kind. I have a 13 year old 4 pound Yorkie who is blind and partially paralyzed (which was disclosed) but very sweet. When we tried to make a follow up appointment the man said my dog was too difficult because she can't stand up properly (she's sorry, but she really can't.) He was kind of a jerk about it and increased the rate for both my dogs, even though my other dog can stand up just fine. I've attached the confirmation- he actually named my dog Trixie Difficult. I am happy to pay an extra fee, but obviously they lack compassion for an old disabled pup, so it's not a good fit for us. read more

My friend and teaching colleague, Drew, rec'd Kevin and Dog Republic to us. My husband and I had just adopted a Pitbull Terrier Mix from the HB Humane Society and although he's coming up on 2, he still has some puppy in him. He has a lot of energy which needs to be spent to avoid any misbehaviors at home (he typically digs a few holes or rips apart our succulent plants if he wants attention). Kevin came over to our place to meet Wally and get to know his temperament; he even took him for a test stroll around the neighborhood with a couple other pups to get to know Wally's personality and social skills. We arranged for Wally to be on group hikes 3 times a week starting April and it has helped TREMENDOUSLY. We really believe in the power of the pack! He's still excited when seeing dog pals on the street but walking him has gotten much better and he doesn't show any bad behaviors at home anymore. We just channeled his energy into a positive place...or should I say, PAWsitive place... ;) What's super cool is that everyone who works here is so friendly. They pick up and drop him off so sometimes we see them, sometimes we don't, but on the occasions that we have been home when they picked up him, we have seen them play with Wally for a few extra minutes before taking off to tend to the other doggies. Once, we were walking in our neighborhood and someone, a Dog Republic employee, who happened to be across the street shouted, "IS THAT MY BOY WALLY?!" and crossed the street to come give Wally a special hug. We got a puppy a few months ago and he's the best except he barks a lot when we have strangers in our home. We had people doing some work in our home today so I scheduled him for a half day and a training session with Dog Republic. It should have been a minimum of 4-5 hours. I asked for the pick up to between 8-9:30 and drop off to be either before 2pm or after 3. The person showed up to pick him up over 2 hours late at 11:50am and said she was late because she got stuck in Laguna on another walk. Annoying but ok - it happens. But I was shocked when he was brought back at 2pm. I called and left a message and txted but they said we were charged the half day and training and then just didn't respond. Yikes. I'm shocked at their lack of communication, follow through and terrible customer service. Really disappointing because it seemed like a great long term option for our pup. read more

I can't say enough good statements about Kevin and this business. I met him years ago when my mini aussie was having a tough time adjusting to life in a small apartment. Kevin suggested the half day program and it worked wonders. She burnt off enough energy to relax when she got home. I've also used the boarding facilities on numerous occasions and my dog Lucy always came home tired and happy. I'm recent years as Lucy aged we moved to slower pack walks. Every walker has been terrific and patient with my senior doggie. I also used their dental service every 6 months for Lucy's teeth. Lucy passed away a few weeks ago at 13 1/2.
