This is the new must go to spot now for our Duluth trips. The morning menu has something for everyone in our group. Lots of plant based and vegan options that all tasted amazing. Service was very approachable, kind, and friendly. We had the famous quiche- one meat and one veggie. It came with a large side of lettuce making it a filling breakfast before playing golf. Highly recommend Dovetail Cafe to those visiting looking for a local coffee house cafe feel. read more

Love a local coffee house! Almanac coffe which appears to be roasted in house is super bold with a great strong taste. I had the quiche. The eggs where perfect and the crust was flakey. Looking at the food menu, it's good sized with lots of options. Few enough you know your foods fresh and hasn't been sitting all day. Large Vegan/GF selection. The menu does state that cross contamination may happen. The atmosphere here is amazing. Buzzing with activities and people laughing. Very noticeable the workers are having a good time. I was looking for a place to study and came across this cute cafe. The vibe is nice and the cashier was very friendly. I was hungry and decided to order the Thai peanut salad (a cold salad). The noodles were hard and the sauce was not very good. I'm not sure if I would come back for the food but a place to chat and have coffee yes. read more

Outstanding. Some of the best breakfast items I've (ever?) had. Hands down it was the best muffin/egg/bacon/cheese sandwich ever. Other than the bacon, i don't really know what made it so great, it just was . Then we had two fresh-baked items (don't remember what they were called) but they were absolutely to die for. Great location and friendly staff. Awesome atmosphere. Well lit with some cozy corners. The coffee and pastries are my favorites. Soup can be tasty. Everything is homemade. The restaurant is inside of the Duluth Folk School, which makes it interesting. (I have happened onto some easy folk music.) I didn't give it five stars, because I reserve that for places like Scenic Cafe, where there is more on the menu, and all is fabulous. read more

OMG better than I had imagined!!!! Came here for my birthday lunch with a couple wild kiddos in tow. Had a yum yum cup of cream of cauliflower soup (I don't even like cauliflower but it was amazing!), a bacon apple panini, a cardamom sticky roll, and swilled down with a cold glass of blueberry kombucha fresh off the tap. Absolutely spoiled. The space in the folk school is simultaneously large and cozy with great lighting and a crowd that is welcoming, multigenerational, and a little funky. The upcoming classes were listed and I so wish I could do them all: snowshoe weaving, timberframe skillshop, a folk dance and music night...it's like everything you want in one place. This is such a great place to meet up with people. So much care and attention and creativity was put into each aspect of the place from the aesthetics, to the food, to the wide variety of area artisan's wares. They also have music many nights, and local art shows that rotate on a regular basis. Dovetail is a great little cafe and coffee shop. It's warm and cozy and a very comfortable place to stay a while and get work done or chat with friends. I've tried the pesto, egg, and chèvre breakfast sandwich twice - messy but very tasty. I've also had the spicy black bean bowl once, which was very flavorful. Dovetail has a great selection gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. I also love that they have real maple syrup because that's my preferred sweetener for coffee. read more

New favorite coffee and deli spot! Red lentil soup over steamed rice is amazing. The atmosphere is spacious, warm, and inviting.

Currently I am in that post-grad anxiety ridden furiously job-searching phase of life and Dovetail cafe has proven to be a haven to work on job applications and contemplate my next steps in life. They have AMAZING CHAI. Which doesn't happen that often when you prefer your chai on the spicy side like me. I have eaten here a few times and my favorite was a sandwich with bacon and apples which I loved because I'm all about that salty/sweet situation. Pictured here is their potato soup with ham which was also very yummy. I was also here when I found out I did not get a job that I really wanted and a staff person asked if I was doing okay when I had tears in my eyes. I greatly appreciated their kindness even though I am not sure now if they were asking about my feelings or if I just wanted a refill on my coffee ‍ Anyways it is the hot place to be in Duluth at the moment and is definitely worth checking out. read more

Their quiche is spectacular. The staff is fabulous and the atmosphere is very comfortable.

My husband and I stopped in on our drive through Duluth to get hot tea and coffee to go. We decided to get a chocolate chip cookie, which we were told baked fresh that morning, along with all the delicious baked goods in the case. I bake amazing chocolate chip cookies myself and this was hands down the best chocolate cookie I've ever had. Just the right combination of crunchy and chewy and sweet and salty. We will definitely be back for more food and drinks and cookies the next time we are in Duluth! Check it out. read more

Got a Hazy IPA and my wife got a Cranberry Sour, both were great! Our server was friendly and outgoing. Also a lot of great vegan options. read more
