Plenty of parking in the strip mall this coffee spot is located in. Was a little difficult to find without using my phone as we saw the big sign from the road, but the shop was further away. Found it once I searched for it on my phone map. Got a large Vietnamese Iced Coffee and large Vanilla Coffee and it was $15. Seemed high priced for what we got. Coffee was ok, but nothing amazing. Service was a little slow. Seemed like a nice place to hang out or study. Would recommend lowering prices if possible. I like to support small businesses but with those prices I wouldn't go back. read more

Love the egg bake. It was so fluffy. The masala chai was delicious as was my husband's turtle mocha. Service was quick. We have a muffin and scone which were nice as well. The only draw back was that the menu board had no prices on it. They were blacked out. read more

I needed a quiet spot to work and take a couple of calls while waiting to head back to the Cities, and this place was perfect! They offer fun, festive drink options and a great selection of homemade food that caters to allergy concerns--huge plus. The vibe is incredibly cozy with a fireplace and calming jazz music in the background, making it easy to relax and focus. Absolutely delicious!! Great customer service and speedy delivery. The shop was super cute and very clean. Loved all the little details. A friend from Duluth recommended this coffee shop. We stopped by and couldn't geo in because of covid. They want you to order from outside. I tried to find a menu on their website and it was not posted. Thankfully, I found paper menus by the door outside. My husband ordered a double shot. He liked it but it was way too bitter for me. I ordered the Honey Bear latte - but without honey, I asked for a pump of vanilla instead. It was amazing! It has cinnamon, nutMeg, and vanilla - so delicious! We tried the cinnamon chip scone. It was pretty good, my son enjoyed it. My other son ordered the blueberry muffin and said it was really good! I highly recommend the honey bear latte!!! read more

I came to Duluth with my boyfriend for a weekend getaway with COVID, and we had a hard time finding coffee shops that aren't chain shops. We finally found this cute place through yelp and would recommend this place to anyone stopping by the Duluth area. The shop is located in a strip mall with tons of parking. With covid, call ahead and order. It was hard for us to find a menu but we found one on allmenus.com. Lots of gourmet drink options! We ordered 2 egg/sausage/cheddar croissant sandwiches, a salty sailor latte, and a peanut butter mocha. Our order was ready within 5 minutes. Options to pay include card or Venmo. Overall food/drinks were good. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other drink options! read more

If you are looking for a coffee place in a small town (near two universities) that isn't Starbucks or any of the other chains out there, this might fit the bill. I flew into the Duluth airport recently and was looking for a local place to go for a coffee and a bite to eat (and did not feel like having a big sit down brunch). I saw this place (thanks to Yelp) located in a strip mall, and decided to give it a try. Walking in and over to the register area, I saw they had a nice variety of pastries, sandwiches, and specialty drinks. I opted for an egg bake and one of their pastries along with cafe au lait and soon sat down to enjoy my meal. It was a feast for my tastebuds as it tasted freshly made, and the coffee drink was also very good. I do highly recommend this place as yea the prices are a big high but the staff is helpful and its got a great vibe to it. They also have Wi-Fi available so if you need to do some work of any sort online, come in for a coffee and a snack and get what you need to get done! read more

I always want to support local coffee shops over the chain companies but it's hard when they can't be consistent. 2 stars cuz it's a cozy spot, went in for a quick drink with my wife. The employees were kind but didn't seem very knowledgeable. Ordered a chai and Latte. Latte was fine, but the chai was either made completely wrong or doesn't follow the traditional recipe. (Milk & chia concentrate) it really just tasted like hot water with cinnamon. I've worked at coffee shops so I understand mistakes can be made, I let one of the baristas know and asked if I could just have a $3 cappuccino instead. They were not very accommodating and made me feel like it was my issue not the coffee. Then they asked me to pay for the cappuccino after I returned the full chai. Just not the customer service I enjoy being around. Maybe we will return, but not likely with other good options in the city. read more

I am a student and come here to study often, and usually enjoy my coffee shop experience. Recently I have sat and studied and been interrupted by the rude commentary from the manager to the employees. It seems I here about drama between co-workers every time I walk in. After overhearing some of the conversations and the way the workers are treated/talked to I don't know if I can come to this coffee shop anymore. Not a horrible place to eat. I have to be honest though, I am a bigger fan of Starbucks and caribou coffee. The taste of Starbucks and caribou is just far more superior then perk place. I would only come here if I were in a hurry and there was a extremely long line at Starbucks and I needed a hot drink fast. Its defiantly the coffee shop that I would put on the back burner out of all of the rest of the coffee shops. I honestly just wasn't feeling the taste. I actually tried the coffee shop inside of super one yesterday and it seemed to taste a lot better then perk place too. I'll probably end up going there if I'm in a rush to get coffee. There is a big board with all of the drinks and prices behind the counter. It read 2.80 something for a medium coffee then my receipt read 3.15.. confused I asked about the price and waitress said prices have changed since they did the board....no menu at front counter with updated prices or anything. Feel like someone should update the board so people know what they are paying for...coffee wasn't bad read more

This place is ok. Staff is friendly and super helpful but when you walk in the place smells super sterile. Like a hospital. I would expect a coffee shop to smell like... coffee! I got one of their special drinks and had it blended. I can tell there's some decent espresso flavor under all that sweet but I'm finding it hard to get to. Also, they're pretty over priced. A good place to go of you just need somewhere to go though. read more

I really enjoy almost everything about this coffee shop... EXCEPT THEY DON'T RECYCLE!! Cool, they have house cups, but their trash is heaping with recyclable lids and sleeves. I have to pass on this place more than I would like to. The staff is so friendly and it's so cozy. We are in a time where recycling is accessible and necessary. I feel this is irresponsible. Maybe make recycling available to the customers. I have never seen a recycling sign anywhere. read more

The coffee is great! Their blended drink is so-so, but the hot specialty drinks that I have tried have all been very good. The food is ok, but in my opinion it's more of a place to go for coffee and chat or study than it is a place to eat lunch at. Also, outlets galore makes for a happy college student. read more

Perk has been a favorite of mine since I moved to Duluth six months ago but now it's a go-to. With the best lattes in town and seriously the friendliest staff, you're missing out if you don't make a trip here. There's plenty of seats, outlets, and a good wifi connection if you're looking to get work done and the music is relatively quiet background noise! Not impressed. The bakery selection is slim and overpriced. The customer service was terrible and we waited over 10 minutes for our two drinks with nobody in line before us. Located…read moreconveniently in the center of Canal Park, we stopped by on a sunny Wednesday early afternoon, hoping to score some of the best sandwiches in town. Even though this was well past lunch time at 2PM, the outside patio was packed and there was a line of 10 people or so to contend with to order at the register. Due to how busy it was, our food took about 20 minutes to arrive. The Squealy Dan, Porketta ($16) - Unlike most other restaurants with Iron Range Porketta, Northern Waters slices their porketta thinly instead of pulling the pork apart. It has a pleasant spiced flavor and the texture feels as if it's cured rather than roasted. It's relatively tender, and while they give a decent amount of meat, it's completely overshadowed by the heavy spicy quality of the black pepper and the acidity and vegetalness of the crunchy pepperoncini. There's a bit of melted gooey provolone on top of the porketta. While nice, there's not enough to balance out the peppers. This is all on a crusty almost baguette-like hero roll, toasty and warm. The sandwich is served with a side dip that's essentially black pepper and pepperoncini water. Definitely not needed given how overwhelming those elements are in the sandwich. (3/5) Pastrami Mommy ($19) - I haven't had bison pastrami before. Now I know why it's not very common - it's way too lean and dry compared to beef pastrami. Still, it's nicely spiced and peppery, and there's not much of the bison gamey flavor since it's cooked out from the curing. There's a little bit of mayo underneath and some mustard on top, but it's not enough moisture or fat in my opinion to counteract the leanness of the bison. While there are some slices of provolone above the meat, they are served cold. I feel like melting it with the pastrami on the griddle would do wonders to help develop some more unctuousness. It's also served on cold rye - perhaps toasting with some butter would also help. Otherwise, the sandwich is just too dry and lean for my tastes. (3/5) I feel like I ordered the wrong items. I probably should have gone with some of the seafood sandwiches, but I found it strange they only serve Atlantic salmon rather than local lake fish. In the end, I appreciate that Northern Waters Smokehaus makes most of their meats in house, but after trying their food, I feel like it's more hype than substance. I go to a lot of coffee shops in Duluth. I have to say that this was not the worst coffee shop that I have been to in my life. However it wasn't the best wither. I ordered a vanilla bean latte. I have been to a lot of coffee shops and had a few of them, but this was by far the worst tasting one that I have ever had. It tasted exactly like a watered down shot of espresso with no vanilla flavor at all. I have never had this problem at a Starbucks, caribou coffee, or any small coffee shop that I have been to. When I made an attempt to try to talk to what I am assuming is the owner about the issue, she gave me some watered down excuse for the horrible drink that I was drinking. It tasted so horrible and the staff was so unaccommodating when I asked them to fix the issue, all they offered to do was put a pump of vanilla syrup into it. I don't want to taste the funky sugar water they are offering to fix their mistake with. I want the vanilla bean latte with real vanilla that they claim to have. If I wanted an Americano, I would have ordered it myself. If I wanted a drink that tasted like an armature made it, I would have stayed home and made it on my own. This place was a giant disappointment and it was overpriced. I'll be heading to Starbucks next time I went to their website and it was also a cheaply built WordPress website that I could make at home too. Ugh... Says a lot about a place. read more

Perk Place in St Luke's building A is a true gem! As someone who doesn't particularly enjoy working at St Luke's, Perk Place is the one redeeming quality that makes my day brighter. Their specialty lattes are absolute winners, with the Japanese latte and Turtle latte being my top picks. The pastries are also scrumptious, with the pistachio muffin and cherry almond scone being my go-to treats. The employees are friendly, efficient, and get my order ready quickly, even on the busiest of days. I like Perk Place. It has a nice atmosphere with lots of seating. The staff is always friendly and seem to know what they're doing. You can tell they care about their product and I think it shows. The taste of the coffee is perfect. They use Duluth Coffee Company beans. IMO, Duluth coffee company is the best roaster in Duluth, MN. I have been to Perk many times, and have never been disappointed. I had their pistachio muffin the other day, and also an egg bake breakfast. I asked, and almost all of the items they have, they make from scratch right on site. Pretty cool I think. It's a small nice place, with a great vibe. Really seems to be a local favorite. read more

Tastes terrible and takes forever. We've been to a lot of coffee shops and this one falls far short. The Japanese Latte tasted like burnt campfire wood. The Dirty Chai was weak. NO other orders were in the queue but it took them so long to get our order done one of us actually went up to check on it and they still weren't done. It was about 12+ mins at this time. On top of it, we had tipped 15%. No sorry, no carrying the order to us, nada. I don't know if they have ever benchmarked other coffee shops but my gaw that sucked and we still have buyer's remorse two hours later. read more

I don't know if it's important to other customers or not, but even with the curbside service during Covid I feel like the staff here genuinely cares about me, particularly the management. It's a place to go to get a genuine smile and kindhearted service. It's hard to leave this place in a bad mood. Plus the chocolate-pretzel-peanutbutter bars are incredible. read more

It could be a ceramic coffee cup, or a bowl, or a heavy glass, or a demitasse cup on a saucer. Different shops can have their own style, but if you refuse to serve a well crafted drink in something other than paper, that's an issue for me. Especially when the proper cups are right there! I see them. And I get that washing dishes can be a pain in the neck, but coffee shops can charge what they charge for beans and water because they are providing an experience. Sorry. Thanks for hearing me out. Beyond that, this place is lovely. The people are friendly, which should not be a surprise in Minnesota.
