We first encountered his gallery about a decade ago, when we bought our first small print, what we could afford at the time. A year later, we got another piece. We hadn't been to Solvang in some time, but went this past year and bought our first big canvas print from him. He gave us a small discount on a small print our kiddo became enamored with as we were looking around. For the quality of art and prints, this gallery is wonderful. I saw it initially after it closed on Friday night, so made it a point to stop in on Saturday on my way out. I came in here around 11am on Saturday morning and what brought me in was one of the Dambo trolls that are permanently housed here, sweet!! I have loved Dambo trolls since discovering them a few years ago when I was in Denmark for Xmas holidays. I have also seen a few of them at Filoli Gardens in SF, but as of yet, have not found them in Denmark (yet), I will go back to find these trolls! This museum has a troll that is ceiling to floor and her name is Lulu Hyggelig she's permanant here in Solvang. I only took a look at this troll and looked around the museum shop. There was a suggested donation for the museum but the staff working here didnt seem that strict on collecting museum fees so that was nice. Definitely come here to check out this troll but also check out the museum, its small but its got a lot to keep you busy. Also, easy parking in the back which also makes it nice as this part of the street can get congested. Id definitely come back here again!

You can find opened ones online for a fraction of that price and when you do that, there's no need to guess if you are getting the one you want (or be surprised at all by what you're paying for). If you're looking for bags to keep sealed, this is a great option for you, but for someone like me who was just looking to get one or two to complete a series, this just wasn't priced right enough for me to pull the trigger. I did, however, purchase a single mini figure that's exclusive to a Danish store chain. Was it overpriced? Yeah. But not too high that I didn't feel like treating myself. Staff is very friendly and I saw them happily helping customers all throughout the shop. Customer service is great here. I believe this place is family-run, and it shows in how thoughtfully it's maintained. It felt inclusive and welcoming. Appointments are highly recommended, and this is not a space for children. I noticed they allow calm, well-behaved pets on leash or harness for private parties, which I appreciated. I first visited at 7 AM when they were closed just to admire the exterior, then came back around 12:30 PM to take it all in with better light. We could literally hear her hurried foot steps coming towards us as soon as the other customers walked out (who were white). She also wasn't following them around the store. We did feel that this was discriminatory behavior and another similar yelp review proves it. It wasn't surprising to us since this had happened to us multiple times throughout the day in various shops around the area. Racism and discrimination seem to be a common theme in Solvang which is insane that there's still people like this. Must be the oldies with the same mindset that haven't died out yet. Oh and if the lady working here is so concerned with photography inside the gallery, you must not be doing your job correctly since pictures still ended up here on yelp meaning there were photos taken inside the gallery. Next time you want to tell a patron the rules of the store make sure customers of other races are being told the same, and be polite about it. Also there's a difference between taking photos and taking a video of me and my family reacting to the art. Not everyone steals someone else's artwork just because they recorded inside the gallery. The gallery is filled with beautiful scenes of local scenery. My wife was drawn to his photos of pelicans, her favorite bird. She is a mosaic artist and done several works featuring pelicans. She found the perfect photo, printed on wood (which is an unusual process), that featured many pelicans on a sand bar. We placed it in a perfect place on hallway wall in our house, right under one of her pelican mosaics. We enjoy looking at it every time we pass it. This gallery is right next to Paula's Pancake House, which always has a long wait for a table for brunch. So, while waiting to be seated at the restaurant do take a look inside the gallery. That's how we came to find ourselves in the gallery and finding the perfect photo. We didn't think that when we entered, the perfect photo awaited us inside. Changes are that you will find the perfect photo that calls out to you to take home.
