I don't remember the name of the shop sales clerk but he was very chatty, friendly and entertaining at the same time. I couldn't believe how many puzzles were in the shop. Last month, I encountered this gallery while walking in town. I saw the name and it reminded me of puzzles. Went in and the lady was very welcoming. She mentioned that it's the first gallery of its kind here in CA. Walked around and it was neat to see what Dowdle has to offer. Told her that I'll come back and bring my husband. Later in the afternoon. I brought my hubby and we ended up buying one of the San Diego puzzles. Thank you for a fun experience! We're working on that puzzle now (July 2022). read more

On our way to an ice cream shop in Solvang, we stumbled across the Dowdle Gallery. Peering in the window I finally realized what this place actually was and that is when I got EXCITED! Call me a nerd but I love me a good puzzle so to know the Dowdle Gallery had great pieces of art but also a massive selection of puzzles, I was all in. You will be amazed with the variety of puzzles ready for purchase. Puzzles from all different destinations, landmarks, and special themes make browsing the gallery quite fun. There's also plenty of different sizes and types of puzzles which worked out great for us since we were shopping for birthday gifts. Absolute BEST puzzle place. Great front desk happy, upbeat, knowledgeable guy. I asked for several puzzles of different states to be mailed from the shop. He too me back to the manager... his mom! ... mom cute... and then they took care of all my purchases . The puzzles are unique and they have almost every state and big city! It was my first time visiting Solvang and I came upon this gallery store where the art was beautiful but the 2 gentleman inside were even better. Nick was so funny. Friendly, and the guest were so intrigued by the way he was explaining the stories of the artwork. Kids loved him as well because his manners were just on point. It's because of Nick that the children wanted to puzzles. There was another gentlemen his name was Jim if I'm not mistaken and he was so professional and friendly as well. These 2 gentlemen are exactly what customer service should look like. You must go visit this gallery. Artwork is beautiful the colors are just so vibrant and amazing. Jennifer is awesome!! My family and I wandered into the gallery as we were strolling through Solvang. We happened to notice a few of their featured pieces in the window. Having just peeked into the entrance of the store we then realized that this particular gallery was featuring some beautiful work done by Dowdle, commissioned by Disney, and awaiting purchase to go home with a lucky new owner. These works are absolutely beautiful. Some of them have so much detail in them you really need to look closely to appreciate them. In the Cindrella painting, I swear I feel like I could play a game of where's Waldo with the characters and things in there. I could say the same of the Milan image as well. There are a number of different sizes that these works come in. I want to hurry back, talk to Jennifer again and see if we can't figure out maybe a nice two or 3 pieces that would look amazing on my daughter's wall. Prices? I'm sure that they will change down the road but right now, they are so much more than reasonable! I hope that in the next year or so that Dowdle will also re-create these works for puzzles! You have to come into the gallery! These works are SOOOOOOOOO beautiful and will make you fall in love with these Diney movies all over again. Some of the Disney pieces he has done include: Mulan, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Cinderella, Aladdin and a few others. I urge anyone who comes through Solvang to stop in here. It's not a super duper fancy shmancy place but that's also a big part of its charm. THANK YOU JENNIFER for your time and for introducing us to more of the Dowdle collection. Our family was on our way to Alisal Ranch in Solvang for vacation, so we stopped in town for some sight seeing and lunch before continuing on to our final destination. We stumbled upon the Dowdle Gallery by accident, but it was a nice surprise as I love jigsaw puzzles, and own about 6 by Dowdle, that I purchased from Costco. So nice to see all of the amazing artwork. My kids had fun building a puzzle, as my wife and I had a pleasant conversation with Nick the curator about the artist, his works, and his television show on Max. Nick was super friendly, and was happy to answer all of our questions. I definitely recommend stopping into this art gallery if you are ever in Solvang. read more

We completed the Solvang Dowdle puzzle over the summer, and, well, we've been meaning to make the trek to Solvang ever since. This past Sunday after snacking on some delicious Danish pastries from Olsen's, we were truly shocked when we stumbled upon the DOWDLE GALLERY during our visit to this quaint little town! The gallery is roomy, art is well displayed, and it was a amazing to see the original art of Dowdle puzzles we've previously completed, especially the Solvang one! And the puzzles, they have a huge selection available, in many different piece counts. Whether you're a novice casual "puzzle piecer", or have a good amount of time, and you're up for a challenge, there's a puzzle for everyone. We spoke with Nick, who is a true delight and is a shining example of the Dowdle, who you want representing a business you are purchasing from, and made our family feel most welcome. Nick's knowledge of all things Dowdle, especially the puzzles, is unmatched. We feel even better purchasing products from a company whose employees truly care for their customers.
