The marshal here acts more like a tyrant than a marshal. We were **on the 5th hole when he came up to us and started giving us a hard time about our pace of play**. We had been on the course for about an hour and were playing at what I would consider a completely reasonable pace. For context, we ended up finishing our entire round in **under 4 hours**. We also teed off late because the group ahead of us was waiting for their fourth player to show up. The starter allowed their fourth to tee off late even though the rest of their group was already out there, which held everyone behind them up. On top of that, one of the players in our group was playing his **first round back after knee surgery**. There was also a threesome behind us that was catching up. We had absolutely no problem letting them play through, but apparently that wasn't an option. We were essentially told to **speed up or skip a hole**. Being only on the 5th hole, that seemed completely unreasonable, especially considering we ultimately finished our round in under 4 hours. Golf is meant to be enjoyed and played at a smooth pace. If I wanted to rush through a round in under 3 hours, I'd go play a simulator. What bothered me most wasn't being reminded about pace of play -- it was the way the marshal handled it. You can't have a conversation with this guy. Once he makes his decision, you're automatically wrong and he's right. He even had the nerve to tell me, **"Don't argue with me."** It's unfortunate that someone with a little bit of authority can't simply have a respectful conversation with another person. We were willing to let the group behind us play through, we finished our round in under 4 hours, and one of our players was playing his first round back after knee surgery. Yet somehow we were treated like we were the problem. **I will never come back here, and I definitely won't recommend this course to anyone I know.** read more

Used to be a great course. Now it is is ruined by a rude old Marshall that doesn't know what he's doing. We had a round be 15 minutes late from the start due to poor management. Only to be yelled at on the back 9 when we had been making up the lost time from the start. Not to mentioned how Dusty the back 9 is now due to dirt. Other courses clear DR. read more

Have had many wonderful experiences at Downriver over the years but the last several tee times have been booked with no consideration of the pace of the course. We were yelled at by a Marshall for not having two sets of clubs. I am a novice and usually only use my husband's, this has never been an issue anywhere else. After being yelled at by a very rude Marshall, we decided to go home. $80 for one hole of golf. read more

First time playing this course and had a great time! Course was in good condition and the greens played true. Requires accuracy off a handful of tees as there's a ton of trees on both sides of the fairways. The guys in the pro shop weren't very friendly but otherwise it was a great day on the course. read more

Went to play twilight golf on Sunday evening. My son called to get a tee time, asked if they do twilight golf. Person said yes, but never said we don't take tee times for twilight or that it starts at 6. So we arrived at 5:00, found out twilight starts at 6, so hit balls and waited. Then went to pay for twilight, with carts only to be told you can't rent a cart in twilight golf. I asked the gal if they explain this when people call to inquire about twilight. She said only if they ask specific questions. We had bought $44 worth of beverages for our twilight game. So no cart, to carry the beverage..so carry that and pull your clubs..I suggest you tell people the specifics on "twilight" golf. The gal was not especially helpful or courteous. read more

Love this course. Like the driving range. But just finished a 6 HOUR round. Recently I've been finishing rounds under 4 hours on average. This place schedules poorly and doesn't keep pace of play up whatsoever. We arrived about a half hour before our tee time to be courteous and didn't tee off until over 30 minutes after we were scheduled. Every golfer we saw and talked too was playing at a normal pace and there wasn't huge groups, just poor scheduling. read more

Beautiful course but many staff members would do well to mind their manners and their holier than thou attitude from the over the phone booking agents to the teetimemiester. It's a municipal course not a country club and even if it was ya'll glorified secretaries would be out on your duff for your lack of professionalism and customer service. I think the city needs to reconsider who they elevate to positions of 'power' at this course cause the people they do sure go the distance in taking away the fun factor of playing golf. read more

Not a bad course, reasonable greens fees decent condition. My beef is with one particular individual that works in the pro shop. Look up "club pro" in the dictionary and you'll see his arrogant off putting pretentious attitude described to a tee. The type of guy who can't wait to tell you "no" and if you're not a low handicap "bro" he's going to sneer down his nose at you the entire time you're being "helped" luckily this doesn't affect the quality of the course but doesn't make for a welcoming atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and go to Indian Canyon instead I promise you'll have a better experience. Me and a couple buddies went for an after work round a couple of weeks back and had the pro shop staff been more plesant and personable the experience would have been great. We walked in to sign in for our round and the pro was arguing with a customer about a tee time and then come to find out the pro shop booked us on top of the same guys tee time. The pro was not friendly or personable at all but our group the other group along with the pro got it all figured out. The course was in good shape and played really well. Had the pro shop experience been better this would have been a 4 or 5 star rating. read more

I can't speak for the course, but the driving range is small but decent. I wish they had some different tee sizes to choose from for teeing off the mats. Really nice practice putting green and really really nice people there enjoying sunshine and golf. I hope to come back here soon to play a round. read more

Great course - Terrible wait staff First time on the course, great muni course, but I'll never go back. I ordered a dog and a beer from the late 40's girl with short hair behind the counter; she didn't speak one word to me. Went outside looking for #10 and the early 40's girl with long blond hair was cranky too. I asked if she could point me in the direction of #10 (there is construction and it's not plain). She pointed towards the construction and said "Right there." I asked how to get to it as I thought the tee was on the other side of the construction and she again pointed at the construction and said "It's right there! The cart path is RIGHT....THERE!" What she could've said was "We have a temporary tee box because of the construction, go down the cart path and you'll see it." Talked with some "regulars" and they said the blond with long hair is always cranky. Said they never do anything about it because she's always there. Well... I won't be. read more

Fun course that requires accuracy off some of the tees. Not overly long and not too bad to walk either.

To say bad is an understatement, I've read many reviews about how slow the pace of play is but I never expected it to be as bad as it actually is and I didn't even use the course. Went there on a Sunday to hit the range. Cars all the way up the road, no clue how anyone actually on the course could finish a round in 8 hours. Came back the next day Just to practice. Clubhouse is severely outdated. Went to get a bucket of balls for the range. Prices as of May 2022 are 7, 11, and 14. $14! for a large bucket. Is this a country club? No. Range looks about as nice as a park in the hood. Should've just went there instead. Only good thing I can say is that there are 2 practice greens with ample chipping space. But if you're thinking about trying to put save your time. Both practice greens are as rough as asphalt. Went back into the clubhouse at 6:30 to get another bucket of balls after even more disappointment on the practice greens. Even though they're open till 8 I was told no I cannot get another bucket of balls. Was also referred to as buddy by the snobby guy behind the counter. 10/10 will go to Indian canyon next time. I love playing Downriver, for years it has been a source of tremendous fun with great friends and a few bogies (many bogies) along the way. Always friendly staff and a great example of Spokane Parks & Rec providing a tremendous resource to the citizens of Spokane. read more

For the money it's a steal. Not a bunch of hazards, pretty good pace of play, nice service, nice conditions.

Great track and a reasonable pace of play. Our one and only complaint was that they allow 5 somes which can impact pace of play but after we contacted the pro shop and asked for a Marshall to come out and see if he could "move them along", the pace of play improved. Great value for a very nice course, greens were great! read more

Had a good time until the off duty greens keeper playing two groups behind us decided the avg 1minute wait time was too long and crossed two fairways to spit in face for playing too slow. Needless to say it caught us all off guard, and made it hard to enjoy ourselves. It wasn't a good look for a public golf course. Worst golfing experience of my life!!! read more
