The course itself is beautiful and I would rate it 5 stars. However, this was our first time visiting, and unfortunately the behavior of multiple staff members completely ruined the experience. Because of this, we will not be returning. I was simply riding along in the cart, which has never been an issue at any other course. The staff member at the first tee told us that the pro shop had called ahead to say it was "extremely strange" that I was riding along while my boyfriend golfed. She repeated several times that it was "strange and weird," and emphasized that they would "let it slide this time," but not in the future. This interaction felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. After the first hole, another staff member approached both us and the group we were paired with and told us to hurry up and start dropping balls because we were "taking too long." We fully understand and respect pace of play, but at no point was the group behind us waiting. For reference, each hole should take no more than 15 minutes and we completed 9 holes in just over an hour. There was no dilly dallying nor was anybody just taking their time. Despite this, he continued to follow us for the next 9 holes approaching us 3 different times, which felt excessive, intrusive, rude and incredibly unfriendly. We would have had a completely different experience if these concerns had been communicated respectfully. Instead, the tone and approach of the staff made what should have been a relaxing outing feel stressful and unpleasant. We came to enjoy some time out of the house after putting our dog down, and unfortunately left feeling worse than when we arrived. Because of this experience, we will not be returning or recommending this course. read more

Great play around but I wait for my food for over 45 min because he forgot about my food order... what a waste of my time

I can't believe that this is a municipal golf course! Most city run courses are a little shabby, poorly maintained, with disgruntled staff. That was the opposite here. I was met with super friendly and kind staff who struck up conversations about everything. So helpful for this guy who came in from out of town. The golf carts are equipped with GPS trackers that provide you with the range to the pin from your location. So easier that running around trying to find the sprinkler head or fairway markings. The course was so well maintained, especially considering this is the end of summer. Greens were smooth and lush. Fairways were well watered and green. I always appreciate eastern Washington golf courses that play links style, so I don't lose my ball too much thanks to my wicked slice. Oh and no water hazards! So appreciate that. Beautiful scenery in a peaceful setting. I forget which hole it was on the back nine, where you're looking down into Spokane. The other highlight was running into a group of wild turkeys. The animals, not my co workers. So amazing! read more

First it SUCKS that I can only give this golf course a "5 Star" rating- From the second you walk into the your greeted and treated so well- HATS off to everyone one that works there- We try and play A LOT of golf around the PNW and we've experienced a lot of great hospitality in doing so- But Indian Canyon ALWAYS ALWAYS seems to OVER EXCELL in great hospitality. THEN you actually see the course- WOW!! Is it amazingly beautiful- We live on the west side of the state and still make it a point to go play there 3-4 times a year- WORTH every second of the 4hr drive. HATS off to the maintenance crew and the Superintendent!!!! The course was in PRISTINE condition today ( 8-7-2024 ). The tee boxes and fairways were IMMACULATE plus greens rolled perfectly I'd argue with anyone if they played this course and didn't think it wasn't AWESOME! I truly tip my hat to y'all - THANKS again for another wonderful day at your golf course. Can't wait to go back!! read more

I would absolutely not return to play golf here. I have been golfing for years and took my beginner friends to play a fun round of Easter golf. The marshal was extremely rude and stalked us the entire nine holes. We teed off on time and were trying to play at a normal pace for beginners and he kept hurrying us. Maybe it was because we were three women but he kept encouraging us to tee off at 150 yards. In addition, we told him we were going to scramble at some holes to be quicker due to the fact that my friends are beginners, and towards the end he wanted us to scramble at every hole. At my usual golf course, I have truly never experienced anything like this, the marshal is very considerate and understanding while keeping the pace of play. If you actually want to play fun leisurely golf as a woman, do not try this course. However, the pro shop staff were very kind and the greens are beautiful. read more

Let me start by saying Indian Canyon is my favorite Spokane city or county golf course. But, today, I literally had the "sh!tt!est" round ever. They sprinkled manure on EVERY green. Not only that, they only did it around the pins so you had to put through it, on every hole. No warning, no discount. By hole 3 my golf towel was covered in sh!t. Really disappointed in the round, I would have rather had sand on the greens or even had them been spiked. Playing plinko on the green where you can hear your golf ball hitting the pieces of sh1t is not how it's supposed to be when you pay $80 a round. read more

I played 7/28/25 on a beautiful & very warm July day. 9:15am tee-time. The course was in amazing condition. Kudos to the course superintendent. Fairways, greens and primary rough were in great condition. Waited on tees about 15 minutes total during 18 holes. The range is "very good", but not "excellent, IMHO. Natural grass, well-maintained, very wide & long. Needs more targets, especially 75-100 yards. In addition, there is absolutely no reason they don't have Accu-range except they won't spend the minimal amount to provide it. So the range is basically for warmup and not practice. And...a large bucket is $12 so we are paying a premium while they won't provide a premium experience. But CONGRATS to them...they are saving about dollar a day by not utilizing it. The two fellows in the pro shop processed my $80 payment (18 holes weekday, 1/2 cart and medium bucket) but weren't welcoming at all. Zero conversation and yes/no answers when I was the only customer. The restaurant seems like an inexpensive after-thought. Self-serve with prices that warrant table service. Again...not busy just not providing good customer service. In summary, I love the course! Historic and fun. The range, pro shop and restaurant didn't add to the experience at all. Indian Canyon is a phenomenally fun municipal golf course. I was in the rough enough to say that it plays well! The greens are awesome! I highly recommend keeping the ball below the hole. I don't know what kind of sand they use, but it plays well, and if you land in a bunker with any kind of height on your shot, you will most likely have a fried egg for your sand save. For the par five holes, absolutely keep your shot inside the tree-lined fairways. If not, you shall pay the man! Indian Canyon is an "Old School" golf course designed when moving dirt really wasn't an option. The greens are not built up on huge complexes but are built into the slope of the earth which makes reading their nuances a little bit of a challenge. The fairways are the same, so you will have dog leg lefts and rights with the fairway sloping the opposite way. And remember, you are playing up and down in a canyon with short uphill par fours and fives, and long downhill par fours. Enjoy! For the greens fees, golf doesn't get any better than this! OK, Bethpage Black tops it, but let's keep it real. read more

I've only played a couple courses in the Spokane area and this is the best one so far. The pro shop was friendly and accommodating. For the price, the course is a great layout, with awesome views, and in great shape. The play was slower than I would have liked at 4 hours and 20 minutes, but I had some good playing partners to pass the time. Like many courses these days, no tee times are taken online for singles, but I did see there was opening for 2 at 0618 the night before and showed up at 6 at the course and was able to join the twosome at that open tee time. Thanks to the starter for squeezing me in. There is plenty of elevation change, doglegs, and larger, mature trees to add challenge to the round. From the tips, the course clocks in at just under 6300 yards with a slope rating of 123. So driver isn't needed on a handful of holes and you're not in jail if you go astray with your tee shot on other holes. Some local knowledge definitely helps with the blind tee shots (#3 and #12 stick out in my head). Fortunately, I was paired with two regular players of the course which probably saved me at least 5 strokes on my round by giving me some inside info. For $45, we had a fun round with time for plenty of good conversation. That price is without a cart, which I would not recommend going without as it's been a scorching summer in the Northwest and I was dragging pretty bad with the last three holes being pretty much all uphill. read more

Course was amazing! Beautiful and fun. The hospitality was abysmal. No food or drinks available early. Nothing ready at the turn. They looked at me like I was an alien when I asked if there were any breakfast sandwiches available at the turn. They said "no" it was 8:45 am. No beverage cart running the entire time. Just a bummer for how great the course was. Pack your own stuff would be my recommendation and you'll have a great time. read more

This is a great public golf course. Conditions are very good and staff was very helpful and friendly. Greens are fast and smooth. I'm guessing this could be tough for beginner golfers but I happed to love them fast and sloping. I have things that I'd like to see different but I'm not going to say anything negative. It's a great place with a nice driving range. The 4 star rating is just for the lack of distance. 6300 from the tips is kinda short by today's standards. With some lengthening it could be an amazing course. BTW, I make sure I write my reviews not based on how I played. read more

It Was not busy but the staff were holding conversations & not attentive, we ordered 2 burgers & fries & then sat out on the patio we were told the waitress would bring our burgers out to us. After almost 45 minutes I had to go and ask where our food was. They had given our meals to someone else. They apologized eventually, & began cooking our burgers. By the way the prices are ridiculous for 2 burgers & fries, 1 coke & 1 beer was $37 We will not be going back!! read more

One of four City of Spokane courses, Indian Canyon offers a stern but fair test for golfers of all skill levels. At 6,255 yards from the tips, length off the tee is not the issue. Accuracy, by contrast, is hugely important. Put it in the fairway and you can score well here. Miss fairways and you can start chalking up doubles or worse. The course is maybe 10 minutes from downtown Spokane and is less than $30 for 18 holes. A total bargain (as is all golf in Spokane). The course is also VERY hilly. Rent a cart if you're even slightly unsure if your ability/willingness to combine golf with mountain climbing. Because of same, you'll rarely encounter a flat lie, even if you pipe one down the center of the fairway. Great for practicing tough shots, though admittedly a bit frustrating from time to time. Cool trivia: this course was on the PGA tour rotation back in the day (it hosted what was then called the Esmeralda Open). All the great players of yesteryear (Palmer, Nelson, Hogan, etc.) played it. Indian Canyon offers a full-service pro shop. The driving range is spacious and features real grass to hit off. Practice putting green is good, though they don't have a practice sand trap. Course includes a full restaurant with good food, beer, and wine. The views from the restaurant are spectacular. Course staff are all super-friendly. In short, a great golf experience for golfers of all skill levels. If you're a golfer passing through Spokane, you really owe it to yourself to play here. read more

This is one of my biggest disappointments at a golf course. I'm sure the course is great in other years/times but not when I went. Here is why: -The golf shop isn't impressive at all. It's more of a small room that happens to sell some stuff. They don't have a wide selection so don't expect to get anything from there. -Terrible greens. When I say terrible, I mean the worst I've ever played on. It made my experience horrible...I wish I had taken pictures. The thing that pissed me off was that they didn't tell me that the greens were horrible and the round cost me 230ish got a foursome. After the round, I approached the staff and they said, "everyone in Spokane knows about our greens this year." Well..I am not from Spokane. Food is good and the rest of the course is in decent condition. Like I said, it's probably a good golf course but I won't come back and risk the greens being in the same condition as I played in. read more

Beautiful golf course and great value. Do not attempt to walk this course due to the constant elevation changes. We were all tanked by 9 and had to upgrade to power carts. Much more enjoyable! Some gorgeous scenic holes. My only complaint about this course is that the distance markers are scarce / hard to locate if they are even there. Combined with the above mentioned elevation changes, this made club selection very challenging even for the most seasoned golfers in our group. Directional signage also needs improving as we often were left wondering which direction the next hole was. And the cart beverage service was much appreciated! A classic golf course in Spokane with a lot of history and tradition. The views from the tee boxes on both sides overlook Spokane. The rest of the course is down hill from here. The course is very hilly which will give you many side hill, up hill and down hill lies. Practice your aiming as you will push, or pull shots normally not used to. This is a municipal golf course. The grooming, facilities and amenities all reflect that. The greens, predictably, are a little furry. Now, let's move beyond all that--95% of all courses in American would kill for this layout. Yes, the views can be spectacular, but even without them, you'll find yourself saying, 'wow...this is a pretty hole'. As has been mentioned, level lies, even in the fairways, are uncommon. The offset is that many fairways are valleyed, meaning somewhat errant tee shots will feed back into a favorable position. Doglegs are plentiful. Some of the elevated greens--18 in particular--are daunting. For under $30, you can't go wrong. But unless you're highly fit, make sure to spend the extra dollars for a cart. Absolute joke. I don't usually write reviews but I'm boiling. I waited 2 hours to hit balls because the high school kids were taking up the range. At 4:55 I go to grab balls and the HEAD PRO shuts the gate to the range balls in front of me. Literally in front of me. 5 minutes early. There was still 20 people on the range and I would have been done before them. Been coming to this course for 20+ years but won't come back until they get rid of the asshole pro. read more

We were initially pleased with the the pro shop help. We had to rent clubs. It cost $30 for clubs that were almost unplayable. We took them back and paid $50 for their "premium clubs." Were ready to tee off and discovered that we were given 1 set of left-handed clubs. We then lost that tee time as we had to go back to the pro shop for a right handed set. We were part way through our round (3rd hole) and saw that the set that was replaced was missing the second fairway hybrid. We did not want to go back at that point. When we finished the round and told the desk, we were referred to Greg. He denied there was any problem in giving us two 4 hybrids rather than a 2 and 4 hybrid like in the other bag. "We gave you a 4 iron so what's the problem?" I believe that there might be a slight problem when one pays FIFTY DOLLARS for rental clubs and is first given a left handed set, and then one that has duplicate clubs and not a 2 hybrid. It is a lot of money for rental clubs, and then rental clubs where two separate errors were made? Any discount given? No. Beers or anything offered? No? Going back? Not sure. Would you? read more

The Golf Course is a 4 star course and operation. The restaurant is the one star. We got thru with golf and went into the restaurant for a beer and something to eat....The beer was great...The patty melt I had and the club sandwich my wife had were the worse sandwiches we have ever had to pay for....The city of Spokane should spend some time teaching their employees how to do there job. The patty melt had onions and a beef patty nothing else.. My wife's club house had stuff hanging out all over the place. Normally Golf course food is OK at worse....not here is was Worse at best. read more
