I was desperate to see a doctor as my physician was booked solid.I had never been to this clinic so I wasn't too sure what I'd find. It's a little difficult to find if you're not used to the area. You can get to the clinic by walking through the very busy and crowded Shopper's Drug Mart. Forewarning - some of the clientele is sketchy. Hold your purses close and hide your devices. I had someone who was clearly high lingering around seemingly stalking me. I walked into the clinic without an appointment and it was madness. The girl at the front desk was stressed while some ignorant man was yelling at her. Being an admin or receptionist is a thankless job at times. I don't know what people hope to achieve by yelling at staff. It just makes things worse for everyone else involved. I was advised the wait would be at least 1.5 hours. So I went next door to Shoppers and got an older prescription filled. That took way longer than it should have. I was told the wait would be 30 minutes but I waited over an hour. I'll be leaving a scathing review for Shoppers next. Once that was finished I wandered back into the clinic next door. Imagine my surprise that it was completely empty. The girl at the front desk managed to get me in with zero wait time and I was in and out of my appointment in less than 10 minutes. All in all, the staff were friendly and the doctor was helpful. Pros: friendly staff, professional service Cons: long wait times, cash only for medical notes - this could always be improved. read more

I'm actually really impressed with this new location for the Downtown Medical Clinic. I had visited their old location down the street a couple times and this is a refreshing change. Everything is new, well maintained and seemingly well organized. They have good hours and I've seen doctors rather quickly with and without an appointment. The reception staff are rather helpful and I've noticed that they seem to put a lot of effort into cleanliness and proper procedure. I find that the interactions I've had with the doctor have been good and that the wait times are incredibly reasonable -- the only time I've had to delay has been when a more urgent case arrived and needed to be dealt with -- and even so the delay was quite reasonable. Most of their doctors are still taking new patients and it looks like they have some new female medical doctors on staff as well as access to a myriad of great medical services. I'm rather happy to use this clinic both by appointment and on a walk-in basis. read more

Dr moamer Alnegratt is incompetent. He can't do the simplest of procedures that the receptionist said that he could like removing a thorn from my foot. He was going to recommend me to a dermatologist. The receptionists lie about what their doctors can do. It's a simple procedure but this doctor is lazy and I waited 2 hours past my appointment time for the doctor to do nothing !!!!! AVOID THIS CLINIC!!!! read more

Still a 1 rating. Reception staff told me 20 mins wait time for walk in. I ended up waiting for 2.5 hours. If i did not have to see a doctor today, i would have walked out after the 30 mins wait. Saw a lot of people left and people who asked the same lady how much longer and they were told the same thing: "20-30 mins". I understand those who have appointments get priority but hell be realistic with the wait time you provide when asked. If it is one hour, then say that. I was there few days ago and connection with staff and Doctor was great. Like anyone else i was at first uncomfortable but when i saw front desk girl spraying and cleaning counter every time when someone check in make me more relax .... of course you can not relax this days all the way, however floor was clean and patient room smell a bit on Rubin alcohol and Lysol but i can understand they're struggle to make environment at clinic virus and bacteria free. Dr. Atheer who do check up on me was look more like astronaut then doctor but i guess that is a procedure this days. I will go there again ( hopefully not so soon LOL). read more

I've been a regular at this clinic since 2010ish and it was on 115(?) street. Occasionally a bit of a wait time but the doctors are no nonsense. They have a great female doctor on staff which can be hard to find in my experience, and I greatly prefer having a female doctor for some procedures. I can't recommend Dr Mehnaz Khurram enough. The front desk staff deal with a lot of BS but always are professional. read more

I am writing this review solely of Dr. Lamin. The clinic staff are great, but Dr. Lamin, I will never see again. I had the following problems with him: 1. He ordered an abdominal ultrasound for me. When I returned to see my regular doctor, she said that she couldn't diagnosis anything because she needed to also see a pelvic ultrasound. So I had to go back and get another ultrasound, and the go back again to her for another diagnosis discussion. Dr. Lamin was negligent in not also ordering a pelvic ultrasound. His negligence cost me taking more time off from work so as to go to these additional appointments, and additional anxiety as I had to wait longer on getting clarity on my ailment. 2. During the appointment, Dr. Lamin didn't seem to be listening. He seemed distracted/detached. I think this might be related to the issue above; he doesn't listen well, and so doesn't order the proper tests. 3. Dr. Lamin does not know how to deal with the emotional aspects of being a doctor. When I told him about my anxiety regarding the issue he didn't say anything in response. When I saw my regular doctor and expressed anxiety about the issue, she did some "emotional doctoring" as well as physical. read more

The doctors seem to be great, but if the front desk staff doesn't like you, be prepared to be treated like a child or overcharged for paperwork. Like... a surprise $200 fee for a form that doesn't actually cost anything. Avoid, if you have anxiety issues - these ladies don't care and will treat you like it. read more

Wrong and abusive use of power... Today me and my wife took our 8 month old baby in dowontown medical clinic in Edmonton because she was sick. Our regular doctor is Dr. Ezekiel Oni and we requested the reception that we would like to see him. The reception said that he is not accepting any patient so we agreed to see other doctor. Few minutes later Dr. Ezekiel Oni came outside and greeted us so I asked him can you see our baby?? He said yes. The reception lady then looked at me and said I told you he not accepting any patients so you should not be talking to him. She literally asked to shut up when I raised my concern that we can request any doctor we want to see and if the doctor wants to see us she should not have any issues. After like waiting for 30 minutes she denied us service and telling us that there is zero tolerance against abuse. First thing she abused us and this is very unprofessional to deny service to a very young child by the reception and Dr. Ezekiel Oni. Very unprofessional and rude behavior we experienced today which shows that lack of care the medical professional people have these days and very disappointed in Dr. Oni itself. I am sure reporting this matter to higher level but if anyone in my contact can help I will appreciate that. My GP is on Whyte Ave and I don't drive so I've found myself at the Downtown Medical Clinic many times when I've been too sick and miserable to make the 2 bus journey to the south side. Initially I was very wary as I've had many terrible medicentre experiences before (who hasn't?) but I was pleasantly surprised by this clinic. I've seen an assortment of doctors and they've all been professional, polite and thorough. I've never felt rushed or dismissed as I have in other places. As a walk-in I've maybe only ever had to wait about 45 minutes max...I bring a book and Candy Crush so I'm prepared:). The only critiques I can come up with is that occasionally the front desk staff can be unprofessional - they don't seem to realize/care that patients can hear their discussions - but this by no means happens every time. The other issue I have is with sick notes...if a patient is visibly ill and miserable and contagious and is being told to go home and rest, why charge them $25 for an off work note? (And it has to be cash, exact change only). I get it if someone is coming in after the fact for a backdated note but when a patient just coughed so hard they peed themselves or has acute gastroenteritis cut them a break and give them a no charge sick note so they can go home and recover please! (By the way, don't confuse this clinic with the medicentre across the street in Rexall drugs...that's a whole other story! read more

Worst medical clinic. The front desk staff is really pathetic & rude. It seems like they are interested in free money from government (which they get as well) but not in patient's health. I had to visit them multiple times in order to get my patient records. Every time receptionist will tell me different time to come, all doctors are from particular ethnicity with no concern for accurate diagnosis, they will recommend your referral to one in their "ethnicity" only. It is close knit circle. Doctor refuse to see patients even when you walk in 2 hr 30 min before clinic is suppose to get closed. As per health law, individual patient has right to access his health records but there front desk insists that you should first see their doctor who refuses to see without appointment. Then why to advertise "walk in", the African American receptionist as front desk is very bossy and provokes patients in sick condition to escalate situation. Why to stop access to patient record, it is illegal but bossy front end uses authority to push through their agenda which perhaps is to get your details & rip off government using your information. This is an example that why socialized care is not always good idea as it lacks accountability & service delivery. Dr. Oni is a great doctor, very knowledgeable , professional, compassionate and conscientious. He sees his clients as a person and provides personal care. I would recommend him to anyone. Front staff has been always kind and helpful. I have not complaints about them. read more

Came in to the clinic as a walk-in patient at 3:59 pm on a Sunday. I checked the internet before heading over, for their hours of service and they close at 5 pm. The receptionist was rude and told me they don't accept walk-in patients at that time because the clinic was closing down for the day. They had a full hour before closing shop. I was turned away - a Canadian with full medical benefits and from what I gather they were just being LAZY. There was not a single patient in the waiting room. I called the clinic afterwards and asked why they were not accepting patients at this time and I was told the same thing- the clinic is closing in an hour. So why does their website say they accept walk-ins? Who are they to pick and choose who to accept as a patient? The receptionist had no compassion. She told me if I'm sick I should go to emergency. It's my first time visit a walk in clinic and it will be my last. This clinic ought to hire better human beings, not lazy ones. read more
