When I woke up a…read morecouple weeks ago with the "I'm on a boat" feeling (even though I wasn't on a boat) I thought I'd call around to see if I could get into see a doctor. I called the Smyth Clinic and was told I could only get in if I got one of their doctors to be my family doctor. This was okay with me because I don't have a family doctor. I got into see Dr. Smyth that afternoon and got a prescription for my vertigo (which subsided in a few days). Only issue I had was the receptionists. Obviously, with Covid there's a plastic partition and everyone is wearing masks so it is hard to hear, but I stood and line and couldn't hear anyone say "come up" or "next person" or anything like that. The receptionist seemed annoyed that I didn't come up, but it wasn't obvious that I could/should. But the visit with the doctor went well and I'm glad I have a family doctor I can go to now.

They made me feel very comfortable. What I was most impressed by was when I saw Dr Musbah as I needed antibiotics, I am allergic to penicillin so there are not many antibiotics I can take, I'm normally prescribed Biaxin, but Dr M said I shouldn't take that one, as it reacted to other medications I was taking--making them less useful & functional. I can't believe no other Dr, even my family Dr ever caught this. I am happy to know that Dr Musbah & the CareExcellence team have my back!

At 2:00 pm, I received a call from the clinic asking me to come earlier, at 3:00 pm. I asked for permission to cut short my shift at work, which was granted. Since approximately 2018, I have experienced ongoing difficulty reaching the clinic by phone after a longstanding pattern of not receiving callbacks after leaving voicemail messages. Calls frequently go unanswered, and voicemail messages are often not returned. This has been a consistent pattern over several years, resulting in limited ability to reliably contact the clinic regarding patient care concerns. On the occasions I have reached "Pat" (office assistant), I have been told she is busy. However, when I attend the clinic in person she has not appeared to be occupied with patient related tasks and has instead been conversing with staff or not engaged in work at the front desk. I have spoken to other patients that attend this clinic and they have the same complaints and find it highly annoying. This creates a barrier to accessing care and communicating with the office. Based on my experience, patients should be aware of communication challenges when dealing with this clinic.

I was so impressed with Dr. Baies. I've had lots of doctors since I left Ontario, but none have come close to my family doc there. Dr. Baies made me feel secure that I had found my new family doctor. She is a very good listener, she's thorough in her tests and questions, and her guidance on several medical matters have given me confidence in her. I like this clinic too. The nurses are very friendly. It seems they've all been there for a while and there's a feeling that I'm in really good hands when I'm there. It can be quite a wait to see Dr. Baies, I've been told, as she's a very popular doctor. Bring a book and keep your afternoon open. But I've been fairly successful getting in quickly. It's slower during the early afternoon, but I did have to wait over 6 weeks to get in for an annual check-up.

Throughout those years I saw Drs. that were inexperienced, lacked medical knowledge and were unreliable with follow-up with test results and medication refills. Dr. Antoniuk is the best Dr. I have seen yet. He is kind, open, honest and through in his examinations. I have extensive medical knowledge of my many illnesses. I have learnt a lot from Dr. Antoniuk within one visit. He is not taking new patients but will see me as a walk-in patient. He has handled many referrals, test results and follow-ups. He has taken the time to call me at home to let me know the results of my tests. I highly recommend Dr. Antoniuk as a competent, knowledgeable and compassionate physician. It is a joy to come and see him for my medical needs. The staff are kind and effective. The poor reviews are not about Dr. Antoniuk as he is not what has been described in other reviews.

No one answers the phone anyways. Even the doctors here aren't as good as they used to be. They've seemed to have lost some of the bettee doctors in the last few months and the ones who are there aren't very personable. Hopefully they fix these issues soon, but until they do, I'll likely go to their sister clinic at the Wal-Mart at Albany.

The procedure can be a little painful, because the person has to go over and over your nails, and the worse the fungus is, the more the machine makes these spark type of sounds, and that is when it hurts. I was hoping to see the same girl that had been treating me when I went to my follow up a week ago, but I had a different girl. I thought I needed a follow up as I had seen little improvement, and I was still experiencing some skin dryness causing the skin on the bottom of my foot to peel in places. (I know, it's gross, but it used to be WAY worse). After examining me in the usual back room, this girl didn't tell me anything encouraging. She felt that I should consult my doctor about the problem. These treatments were not cheap. While I strangely can't find more than one payment which was $74.50, I know I did pay a lot more than that. One treatment the girl gave me for free though. The first time I went there I had a coupon from Groupon or something similar, which helped. While the staff are nice, considering that I had to take 3 buses to get to their location and especially considering the fact that the treatments aren't exactly painless and I STILL have this toenail fungus, I can't honestly recommend them based on my dissatisfaction, as I feel in my case it was a total waste of time. Apparently laser treatments aren't effective on everybody! I've since ordered a product online from the U.S. which I hope gets rid of this.
