I try to take my two children here at least once a week to cool down. We have a pool but it is a bit too deep for them and when there is only me, I can't physically hold both in the pool the whole time, so this is a great alternative. The Splashpad has seating for parents and some of the concrete benches have aunings, which is great if you want to stay cool but don't want to get wet. The water is well maintained, I see the workers out there either mornings or evenings, checking chlorine levels and the filters I am guessing. The fountains are synchronized and follow different patterns. They are strong, but not to the point where your little one will be knocked over. Kids sometimes bring their buckets or bubbles to get the most enjoyment out of their playtime. If you come early, early... you can avoid some of the larger kids. And after school starts, if you have little ones, it won't be as crowded as it has been lately. There is parking on the main street (diagonal) and extra parking around the corner, also extra public by the court house. They also have bathrooms by the Pavillion in the back. Not the best or cleanest, but acceptable. Some adults need to be mindful of their larger child's actions. I have seen a few boo-boo-boo happen because parents are not disciplining their children for running around like a bulldozer, knocking over smaller children. My daughter was one of those people, and her foot started bleeding. The parent just shrugged and said, "You need to talk to him," her husband. I guess she was pissed off with him also. Just wanted to knock them both out. Most parents are pretty good with watching their child, but there is always that one group... Overall, it's like a playground, so be cautious, dress your children in swimsuits, slather them in sunblock, and have fun!

It underwent a major renovation in 2021 where they added lots of amenities and made everything brand new. Even now, 5 years later, everything has been so well maintained and still feels like new. They have a free miniature golf putting course, an awesome splash pad, shaded playgrounds, basketball courts, and a nice nature walking path. You'll also find shaded picnic pavilions and a community garden. My son absolutely loves coming here. The parking lot can be a little tricky to find because my GPS using Google Maps never takes me to the right place. Don't let the location detour you from visiting. It's such a nice park and feels very safe.

The neighborhood and the park is named after one of the earliest property owner's daughter's favorite novel, Lorna Doone, written by English author, Richard Doddridge Blackmore, published in 1869. Lake Lorna Doone was the site of the South's first integrated Little League Baseball game on August 9, 1955. The 1955 little league season was the first after US Supreme Court rulings had eliminated "separate but equal" conditions in the nation's schools and public parks. The Pensacola Jaycees were declared winners of their local district by Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When local officials would not allow them to play against the all-white teams they instead advanced to the Florida State Tournament which was held at Lake Lorna Doone Park. They ended up losing to host Orlando in the second round, 5-0 but they were welcomed by the hometown crowd and given encouragement. In 2021, 12 acre Lake Lorna Doone Park underwent an $8 million renovation. Added to the park was the nine hole Arnold Palmer Putting Experience, fitness stations, a playground, football fields, basketball courts, a splash pad and the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail. I especially liked the nature trail where I got to see native plants and wildlife. With the upgrades, this park now has all of the amenities needed to inspire a healthy, active lifestyle for the West Lakes families who live in this neighborhood and all who visit.

We had a free Saturday with perfect weather and wanted a great spot to take our son -- this park delivered in every way. Just a stone's throw from downtown Winter Garden, it's a hidden gem connected to the West Orange Trail, ideal for bike rides, stroller walks, or just a peaceful stroll under the shaded trees. The park itself is spotless and beautifully maintained, with plenty of open space and a relaxing atmosphere. It's a little big for our son right now, but we found a baby swing he loved, and exploring the mini garden with its pond and waterfall was such a nice touch. You can tell this park was thoughtfully designed for both kids and parents to enjoy. We'll definitely be returning for years to come as our son grows -- it's the kind of place that makes you want to spend all day outside. If you're looking for a true oasis in the heart of Winter Garden, strap on your helmet and ride over to this beautiful park! ‍
