The food is watered down "American Sushi", but the female owner, was awful. She is abusive and ruined the entire meal experience. At the end of our meal, the waitress told us not to bother with a tip, because the owners keep the tips. So, we left, upon walking back to the restaurant to bring cash to the waitress for her tip, the waitress meets us on the sidewalk and tells us she was just fired for telling us that she does not get to keep her tips. That was the most awful resturant experience we ever had and I suggest everyone boycott that place. The owner treats her employees like dogs and then cheats them out of their tips which frankly they deserve. And their food is nothing to brag about besides, and then let's talk about the cost of the food. Spend yor money some place else! read more

Located in an old building in the old downtown area. Parking is located on the street and I believe you could park in the rear if needed, we had no problem. We were seated immediately and our drinks were delivered in no time. Service was good though the whole evening. We ordered an appetizer to split and each ordered different main dishes. Definitely a hidden gem in the middle of Watertown, South Dakota! This quaint restaurant serves delicious, authentic Japanese food. My girlfriends and I ordered multiple sushi rolls, soup and salad. One of the employees gave us suggestions on what salad and soups to try; the Connie salad was a hit! Some seafood and a tiny bit of spice, it was perfect. Our sushi rolls were fresh and full of flavor. The prices were amazing (compared to sushi restaurants in other states). I have tried other restaurants downtown in Watertown and I have realized the farther away from Mavericks the better the service and food are. If you want service that compels you to tip just don't go to The Goss opera house. The people who are working in Downtown Sushi are so friendly and welcoming it's difficult to eat and run, but there isn't much room so it's more of a grab and go place anyway. read more

Our bill was only $32! We ordered the red dragon roll $12....it was absolutely delicious!!! Then we ordered 2 lunch specials. My husband had the chicken hibachi ($9) which came with fried rice. I had the shrimp teriyaki lunch box ($9) that included white rice, 2 spring rolls and 4 pcs California roll. Both of our meals included soup of choice. Order the mushroom soup!!! Also came with a small salad with a delicious ginger dressing. Needless to say, we left stuffed and happy! We will be making this day trip again for sure!!! We happened here by chance coming to watertown from Minnesota. All we wanted was to be able to sit down at restaurant and eat. We had actually intended to eat at the other sushi hibachi place and for some reason my husband wasn't feeling it as we pulled up so we came here. We called ahead to let them know we were on our way. I felt bad as there were 7 of us.m and I didn't give them much time. It was about 4:30 and I figured maybe they had just opened. Anyhow... We were seated right away. It was a warm welcome. We had a couple of vegans with us, a toddler and 9yr old. We ordered a ton of rolls, drinks and appetizers.. Kids were treated like family. We were too! But the owners made the kids feel so special. Even in the beginning the owner had kind of joked about hugging my youngest and she came right in for one! They were so absolutely great. The best tasting sushi I have had in a long time. I grew up on the west coast and was spoiled by fresh sushi. Since moving to the mid west I usually drive to st cloud. I think I may be rethinking that from now on. It wa all so fresh, flavorful, plentiful. A wonderful environment. I was so happy to patronize and support a small business that had such great service and delicious food.
