The process I had today made me look outside of Doylestown Health as a whole because of how unprofessional and MEAN the interactions at this location were. Here's a summary of my experience: I called the number to make a new appointment. This lady was nice and said they would call me back and took my name and number. A few hours had passed and their office had closed so I assumed they would call back on Monday since it wasn't mentioned that they could potentially call after hours. At 4pm, which is when the office closed, I stopped keeping a close eye on my phone. At 5:11 pm I got a phone call from a lady named Kimberly, who's phone call I missed, so she left a voicemail instructing me to call back and hit option 1 on the phone. I called her back within a minute of receiving the voicemail. I hit the number 1 option on my key pad and it automatically ended the call. I tried this again 3 times and it kept ending it so I concluded this wasn't the correct option. The first "option" listed on the automated message was to dial 7, which was the provider on call. This seemed a little weird for me to call the provider on call but that's what I was instructed to do so I did it. I called and the provider sounded less than happy to receive my phone call and in fact HUNG UP before I could even get a full sentence out. Clearly I wasn't supposed to call that number, but you would think the provider could have at least heard my first sentence and nicely said this is the wrong line for this and redirected me. It was clearly an accident and could have been handled a lot nicer and, most importantly, more professionally. I was extremely disappointed with the results I got from today's efforts. I would have been fine calling back on Monday to try to schedule. The fact that the providers were so quick to be rude made me instantly change my mind and look at Penn and Jefferson health. Maybe work on better communication and phone etiquette and you won't lose patients from a basic interaction!

Because the break is severe enough to needing surgery, my mom wanted to see an orthopedic specialist asap. My mom was going to go to Doylestown Hospital ED but someone from Tower Health supposedly told her that it would be POINTLESS to go because they would just do the same treatment as theirs. Instead, the provider referred her to Rothman Orthopedics located at Lankenau Medical Center, which is 1 HOUR AWAY at 3:30pm. HOWEVER, my mom did not leave urgent care until 3PM but supposedly they told my mom that as long as theres an appointment made, it will be okay. We rushed through heavy traffic. I assumed that my mother was aware of the office hours. We made it to Rothman around 4:15pm. The problem is that there were no doctors available because they closed at 4:30PM. While my mom is crying because of the intense pain, I called Tower Health for any other recs because their only recommendation was no good. The guy told me, "so what do you want me to say?" He could have at least said "go to the ED" and/or be EMPATHETIC to our situation. We could have avoided this whole shenanigans and hours of traveling by going to ED at the first place. The provider at Tower Health made poor recommendations -- the appointment that was arranged was impossible to make on time. My mother is not medical savvy so she took everything to what the people at Tower Health said to heart. I am a registered nurse so naturally I was appalled by how my mother told me happened . Showing empathy and compassion goes a LONG way to providing excellent patient care/experience. If I was the provider, I would have been realistic and even google the times the office is open. I think it is good practice to know the days/times the office is closed before making any urgent referrals. This would usually not bother me as much but because my mom was having 10/10 pain and walking around with a BROKEN WRIST, I can think of so many different ways her experience could have been and how they communicated to her. I would NOT recommend this place.

I was getting a little nervous at this point and feeling a bit panicked about getting help. I decided to take a chance and left a very long line outside in the freezing cold of another urgent care waiting for number and drove up to Tower Health to see how they were dealing with rapid testing. Immediately met an intake person (I didn't catch her name, sorry) said only PCR (which I didn't care, just wanted to see a doctor) and then later called me, as I waited in my warm car, (30 mins, and I know I would still be outside at the other urgent care waiting for only a number, and said the words I needed to hear: "You're up bud"! I have to say I felt a sense of relief, silly I know, but when you feel like you are coughing up your lungs and having difficulty breathing, and it's NOT COVID!, you begin to feel a little claustrophobic. From the intake person, to Mandy (nurse) and Sima Assefi, MD, I felt like I was surrounded by the "A" Team! Professionals each one, efficient, direct, fast, and personable to me the entire time. Made me feel like I was the only patient in the office, which of course I wasn't. Mandy walked me back, took my vitals and history, determined an initial course of action with Dr. Assefi, and done. Dr. Assefi then immediately swooped in, diagnosed me as having guess what? Bronchitis. Only by now it was pretty bad, worst case I've ever had, she immediately took aggressive action. Mandy put me on a Nebulizer for about 5-7 mins, Dr. Assefi came back in, listened to my lungs again and announced now I hear your lungs fully expanding! WOW! She gave me not just the one antibiotic prescription but two other drugs to get this kicked out of me, fast! I've been around healthcare a long-time, as in an - olderfart. Both as a patient and professionally. Used to fly medevac helicopters back in the day with a flight nurse and paramedic on board. Those folks know time is of the essence every time they climbed aboard. This Tower Health team reminded me of those flight nurses and paramedics, fast, efficient, really knew their medical stuff! An "A" Team! You folks are pretty amazing! Thank you!!

I normally never write reviews, but my experience today at this Urgent Care was beyond anything I…read morehave ever experienced in a health care setting. The moment the PA walked into the room, he verbally dismissed my wife's serious symptoms, claiming that she "looked well" despite persistent high fever, intense chills, body aches, and overall malaise. He made up his mind almost immediately before performing any examination, which was evident from his condescending remarks and dismissive nature when faced with any questions or pushback from both me and my wife. The whole experience felt like an exercise in his inflated ego -- at one point, he asked me, "what do you do for work?" as a leading question, since I posed well-researched follow ups and concern and I am able to converse about medical topics. We came in with a specific concern about a bacterial infection since my wife had been exposed to the Delaware River right after a massive rainstorm. The timing for the onset of her symptoms, oscillating fever that would reach 102.2 then dip down to normal, intense body aches in back and legs, and chills that were causing her body to shake led us to want to rule out Lepto or another bacterial infection. Without even recommending testing, this PA deemed that it must be a viral infection. When I pushed for testing just to be certain (lepto can progress rapidly and cause death if untreated in some instances), he mocked me, minimized my concern, and told me he would write my wife an antibiotic prescription because I "wore him down." He said he could send a stool sample to be tested, but it would be a waste of money. As far as I know, a blood sample and a urine sample (the latter of which he had already taken) also work to test for lepto, especially early on. I paid for a professional medical opinion, and instead was faced with a giant waste of time and money. I am super disappointed and will actively tell everyone to avoid this location, especially this PA who practices with borderline negligent tendencies.
