The Doylestown Y is very active and therefore depending on what time you select will determine how difficult it is to park. There are adult and youth activities all the time. I am a 30+ year member. I use the gym workout equipment mainly which I believe you will find very adequate. Very friendly staff. Pool hours for you to work out. Men's and ladies' changing facilities are always clean. Place to put keys and clothes in the hallway while you work out. It is very busy on the weekends and mid-late mornings because of scheduled activities. They accept Silver Sneakers which really helps seniors with offsetting costs. Enjoy getting in shape. read more

I recently joined to use the pool for laps/physical therapy. The pool is often unavailable due to swim classes or school swim team training. When available for lap swimming, so far it has been crowded most of the time- it is typical to have to share lanes and not unusual to have to wait. read more

Facilities are nice. However good luck finding a parking space. They allow the kids from cb west to park in the ymca lot. You have to drive around a few times waiting for someone to leave to get a spot, or park in the trainers lot. This has been an ongoing issue that the Y nor the school seems to give to craps about. read more

Great facility. The pool was so warm! The universal changing rooms were great, private. Just make sure you bring a lock for the lockers. I hope they get a new cafe in. You can have birthday parties here as well so something to think about if your children love swimming. I'd love to try some of the classes they offer esp yoga!! Looking forward to going back. This place has been an excellent summer camp. Everybody here is kind, generous, and thoughtful. The pools are always cleaned properly and the gym is organized and efficient. I definitely recommend this to anybody. It also has an incredible skate park! read more

The YMCA activity / sports center has been nothing but a 5-star experience. Everyone is so nice, helpful & patient. I'm very impressed. Every piece of my experience thus far has exceeded expectations. Everyone from the folks who work at the front desk, the music program through the School of Rock & teacher Lolly, the staffing at the fields, the coaches, to Andrew Yannarella who I believe manages the sport / soccer program has made me happy. They have made the chaos of scheduling kid activities manageable. Today during the 4/5 year old soccer practice I watched 2 coaches who have excellent soccer skills approach an unruly group of kiddos with encouragement, patience, instruction and sportsmanship. All while some kids spent a lot of the time falling, playing in another field, or dribbling the ball (with their hands). No matter what they took time to bring everyone together. I enjoy going to the Silver Sneakers classes for the most part. I get a better workout with "Kathy" [more cardio]. I am disappointed that a lot of members [young] do not bother to clean any of the equipment after using it. Otherwise, it's still better than Cornerstone. It's really family-oriented and all the employees are well-chosen. I still hate it when they drop the weights continuously and then I have to leave immediately. read more

I haven't worked out I'm the gym since before Covid 19. My son is 14 works out daily. Open door policy allows members to attend different ymcas. I'm a member of Warminster, but I never go. I faithfully pay my family membership every month for over 15 years. My son goes to Doylestown. They would like to double my membership fee because my son goes to Doylestown 100% of the time. 4 out of 5 family members never attend. So I should pay more? They want to change my membership from family to teen. Only allowing my teen to go to the gym but claiming it save me money‍. They just want to charge me more. Greed. Greed greed. I should review this place since - of course - i am the duke [insert hand patting back here]. been a member 15 years ago for about 2 years. and lately for the last two. i also belong to la fitness. they're two different animals. the doylestown y is a nice community mega-health and wellness-facility. something for every age group. teen center with after school homework help, televisions, video games, ping pong, etc. outside: enclosed skate park, playground inside: child care options, several fitness studios, basketball, olympic sized pool, kids' indoor pool, jaccuzzi, dry sauna, ample cardio, universal and free weights. there is also a little cafe but i've never bought anything there. but: very expensive. gets overcrowded and i get frustrated from time to time. also a lot of lingering and talking. its so close and convenient i want to go here - but i'd make the 9 mile drive to lafit if i have the time. because i really just want to go get a good workout. read more

I have been a member for a few years. The staff is great but dont try to call as you will never be able to talk to the a live person. Parking is horrific when they have programs for the kids. As a mother of 4, grandmother of 7, I appreciate the programs but all the members suffer. I give them a 1 for parking and 1 for ability to talk to a person without driving in and trying to park to talk to someone. A 5 for instructor and programs. Aryana, Gina, and Kathy are the queens of the ymca. Body combat (trade mark) is the best workout you will ever have! I feel like I'm prepared if I were to be attacked. Thank you to Aryana for giving me the confidence to walk to my car after her class (when it's dark and scary and people hide to mug you). Gina's Zumba and Bolly x are fun and entertaining. She is by far the best Zumba teacher and she makes it feel like a workout. It's giving. Spin is an awesome class I highly recommend. I don't sweat cause that's gross but if I did spin would make me. I feel like I could cycle to the moon. But I don't want to do that cause I would die. Obviously. And finally when me and my girl bosses, squad, if you will are done we end out day in the pool adjacent room. Highly recommend again the tiny children screams and chlorine smell gives it the vibes of a post workout hang out. I've never gotten to explore the entirety of this facility because I work at PSC @ Highpoint so I chose to workout there, but I did take my lifeguard certification class here. Simply said, it rocked. The program wasn't long and the trainer, Emily, was hilarious. The indoor pool is Olympic size and goes down to 10 feet, which is necessary for classes such as lifeguard certs and scuba diving. There is a second pool with a large slide where children can play. The lifeguards at the Y are on point: always watching the pool and keeping up on their skills with in-services. The locker rooms are GORGEOUS and very spacious. From what I've seen, the Y has a lot of other certification programs to offer. I'd love to take some of their other classes in the future (scuba diving sounds epic). The only downfall is that it was about 400 bucks to get my lifeguarding cert, and I can't just blow money like that on anything. At least with my cert I got a job that pays well. The certification lasts two years, so it pretty much pays for itself. I have to say, I wouldn't take the recertification course here - it's too expensive. With a little prying around, you can find an instructor to recert you for much cheaper. read more

Day camps in the summer, Indian Guide, Indian Princesses, The seekers, swimming in the indoor pool, working out at the fitness center, the locker rooms, classes in art & music, theatre & cooking. But wow - now it is expanding and getting absolutely HUGE. A great commuinty resource. Expensive to join - but if you will use the facilities and take the classes - well worth it. We have been members here for years. I'm sorry for those who feel that the Y merits three stars or less. I certainly don't want to devalue their opinion but our experience throughout the years has been only positive. The staff are wonderful. The amenities, facilities and equipment are first rate. And many fine programs. Of course, there have been problems over the years. My measurement, however, is not based simply on how few problems an entity has had but rather how the problems are dealt with and resolved. i think the Y has handled most issues in a caring, empathetic manner. Please do not forget that the Y also represents and presents an entire community. I enjoy that all ages, faiths, colors and levels of ability are present here. Our experience is that it is just a terrific place and we enjoy it immensely. read more

This Y doesn't have much to offer despite it being the most expensive one to join in Pennsylvania. Aside from the painfully small weight room, the fitness center itself is often reaches capacity to such an extent that you have to sign up on boards to use any piece of cardio equipment. The stretching area, while large, fills up during peak hours, leaving no where to do any core exercises. The weight machines however are state of the art and worth a try. The locker rooms are what you would expect to see from a fitness club, extremely cramped. You'll have to inch past people who like to stretch naked in the center of the room just to wash your hands. If you're to use a locker room, use the boys or girls locker rooms, much more space! As for the pools, they are nicer than the average fitness center though they are often filled to where you cannot have a lane. They also schedule classes and swim lessons during the peak hours, which closes down lanes. They will boast that they help the community with you membership money but in reality you're paying for the executives 6-figure salaries. What's even worse that is that they will harass you for donations every few months to pay for the programs that the your membership money should have been going towards. It'll make you second guess your justification that the prices are high because they are helping the community. read more

I've joined and left this YMCA a few times over the last 18 years. The cost is much too high for a facility that isn't particularly adult friendly. I've also tried to take classes here. I found out that newcomers and beginners are on their own, as instructors prefer to focus on the people they know. At a barre class the instructor didn't acknowledge me or explain anything. The CB Ymca has good programs. The gym is always well maintained and they do bring in new equipment. The indoor pool is good I just wished they had a outdoor pool for the summer like other YMCA's. I redeemed a free week trial with reception to check out their group classes. I was not given a tour or given any information about any of the amenities available with my membership. The fitness center was big enough that I didn't need to wait for a machine, but a little cramped. The group exercise room was REALLY big. I attended a pilates class with an instructor who didn't introduce herself or announce that class was starting. The yoga class was more structured for senior yogis, but it was still good. Both instructors seemed to really know what they were doing, but weren't hands on at all. read more

I've been a member here for a few years and I love the beautiful pools, the time I like swimming best is during the day, it's quiet. I've had some great swim lessons which have allowed me to learn more about swimming technique. The fitness center is great too with lots of new equipment. They recently put a snack bar in the lobby, I like their grilled cheese. I will miss this Y a lot, I am moving. read more

I have been going to this YMCA since middle school, and now as a young adult, my experience has only gotten better. The most recent renovations to the fitness center have been great, along with the pool. They have great workout equipment, and ample space for everything to use. The layout of the free weights is constantly changing, as you can tell that the staff is very proactive in listening to recommendations and the best interest of its members for its use. The staff have always been friendly as well, giving a welcoming feeling every time I use the facility. Just a great place for adults and kids to practice a healthy lifestyle. read more

one thing i love about YMCA is the ability to visit other clubs for free. i am a Y member from greenfield MA and when i come down to PA for business, my first stop is the doylestown Y. great place to shake out the kinks after a five-hour drive. my experience is limited to the women's locker room, showers, and the big cardio/nautilus/stretching room. locker rooms have all the stuff you'd expect--hair dryers, liquid soap in the showers, bags for wet bathing suits, scales, mirrors. lots of private dressing areas. no locks so bring one if you're worried about theft (i'm not). no towels, so pack one. the big workout room is a greatest hits of fitness room equipment, and it can get very crowded. the machines are tight and when the place fills up, you're gonna smell the guy next to you on the elliptical or the row. treadmills are in the west-facing window so you might be both baked and blinded if you try running there on a late summer afternoon. mats are provided but stretching space butts up against TRX space and ball work and often, there is simply not sufficient room for everybody to do their thing. know that if the aerobic rooms are not being used by a class, you can use them to get it done -- stretch, do mat work, whatever. those rooms tend to be cooler and, obviously, quieter. i've retreated to them a few times and it was great having the space to myself after the relative chaos of the big room. the staff here are super and the mission is admirable. i am grateful my MA membership lets me pop in now and then. for what i need, it's perfect. read more

My family has been a member for the past five years. Over the past few years they up-dated the locker rooms and expanded programs. If you go at peak times after 4pm on weekdays and Saturday mornings parking is an issue. They have 5 locker rooms however the family locker room is the worst. There are not enough lockers and only one bench in front of a mirror when you first enter. There is a second changing area but the area is always wet because there is one changing room with a shower that leaks all over the floor. There are only two bathrooms. You can never get a locker to store your stuff because non are available. The programs are good for kids to get them interested in sports and activities however it is the Y don't expect great teachers. The community leagues, private clubs and even Central Bucks School District offers higher quality instruction at a more reasonable price. The Upper Bucks YMCA did a much better job at providing adequate locker rooms for those with families that have several genders. read more

Love the place. Plenty of cardio machines: treadmills, elliptical , Jacobs and stairs. Machines and free weights. 25m lap pool, sauna spa and an entire indoor kids water park-esque pools, slide and play areas. Tons of activities for all ages. Clean locker rooms and friendly staff. Cafe is small but good for a pinch. It's busy (as all places are) 5-7 but perfect for a local non-gym rat environment. read more

The food tastes like crap and is overpriced. I bought a tuna sandwich here and it smelled like old shoe, and cost $8.00 plus tax. I honestly had to throw it out after about two bites. I just couldn't force myself to continue eating it despite the cost. It was like throwing $8 straight into the trash. I really don't even know how you can possibly mess up tuna. In the past, I also had a pineapple kale smoothie here and despite the pineapple, the smoothie was still unbearably bitter. Will never buy food here again. I was a member at this facility for over twelve years at two different time periods. I left for a variety of reasons. Where do I start? To be fair, I will say that if you have kids or grandkids, this is a place to go. The Y loves those $$$ that children's programs bring in, and there appears to be no upper limit to how many can be crammed in. Kids and kids programs definitely rule the roost here. When the new pool was built a few years ago, there were repeated promises from the staff that the new pool would be for kids and classes, and the older pool would be dedicated to lap swimming and fitness. Unfortunately, it's still business as usual there, with every lesson, class or team being shoehorned into the schedule for both pools. How foolish I was to believe that and wait around for the new pool to be built! If you are retired, low income or are disabled, you are taken care of. There are reduced rates for you, and I applaud the Y's effort to reach out to these members of the community. I believe, though, that the high prices paid by other members subsidize the discounts of others, rather than using endowments to offset losses incurred by the reduced rates. I don't mind giving a helping hand to those in need, but I would like to see the institution pony up instead of fleecing the working members. Unfortunately, if you are a working adult or empty nester who just wants to work out, this is the absolute WORST place to join. The membership fees are sky-high, and you get the leftovers. If you work full time and don't have the leisure of coming during the day, you are forced to come at the busiest times. Expect to be crammed in a lane with five other swimmers of varying speeds while there are classes jammed in the other lanes, or be kicked off your choice of fitness equipment just as you've warmed up. The "adult" locker rooms still have children in them, brought in by parents who just don't want to take a few extra steps to go down to the new family locker room. This is embarrassing for adults who provide an eyeful for children who are old enough to know what they are looking at. If I paraded in front of their children naked in front of their house, I would be arrested and have to register as a sex offender. What makes it any different for children to be brought into a locker room with dressing adults? I joined LA Fitness a couple of years ago and couldn't be happier. I pay a third of the price, can almost always use the pool or equipment, rarely have to share a lane and don't have children gawking at me when I'm getting dressed. It takes a bit longer to get there (15-20 minutes as opposed to 5,) but it is well worth the extra effort. read more

Beautiful facility, great location. Well maintained. However, it is a non-profit and seems to be run for the best interests of its employees (and not its members). Have belonged to a lot of gyms in different parts of the country but this one apparently wants you to check its website just about every day just in case they decide to close for any reason, or no reason. Apparently it closes on just about every single holiday, and a number of special events. And yes, the fees are higher than most other gyms. Guess they figure a good facility requires everyone to pay the same high fee. read more

This past month it has gotten significantly worse and the leadership of this Y are doing nothing about it other than signing new members up. They have now lost me to another gym. The Central Bucks Family YMCA doesn't seem to understand the concept of "oversubscription" to an event or facility. You're not performing a public service when you let so many people sign up that it's like working out in a mosh pit. This place is ridiculously crowded, I tried to swim laps and out of the gigantic pool, there are only two lanes open for swimming laps and there are always several other people swimming at the same time. The lanes are overcrowded with kids getting swimming lessons and even the swim lessons are poorly coordinated and stepping all over each other. I tried to swim last week and there were 5 little kids in the other end of my lane so I could't even go from one end of the pool to the other. The workout room is filled with people bumping into each other trying to get on machines, the free weight area is always packed, and the locker room is similarly overcrowded with people who don't understand basic etiquette (like wearing towels when they're brushing by you naked after a shower). A lot of the classes cost extra money so if you want to do anything besides stand in line to get on a treadmill, the perceived costs saved by not joining a provate club start to disappear. All in all -- just too many people for the space. I'm not impressed. read more

Members beware. This Y continually disappoints. The pool schedules are horrible and always changing. One would think as a paying member that the traditional pool would have at least one to lap lanes open during peak non-work hours during 6 to 8 pm. The only excuse they give is that it is for 'youth development' and even with two pools, they make it inaccessible for paying members. The other problem is that in the morning they have 4 big lanes instead of 6 and fill them full of egotistical triathletes that can't swim with their big face masks. Or the water exercise class full of 10 people take up 3 lap lanes squeezing all the lap swimmers into 3 lanes. As a competitive athlete / swimmer, the Y does not cater to the hard working adults with an hour to spare for a workout. I always leave feeling frustrated and unable to get a quality workout in without having some desperate housewife or ego manic triathlete yelling at me because I swim too fast for their liking. The Masters swimming only has an 8:00 pm practice which is horrible for anyone working a day job. read more

I have been attending the Y for about ten years now and it just keeps getting worse and worse. If you go at a peak time, the parking is out of control. If they keep allowing new members (which they will because there is no limit) they will run out of parking spaces between 9 and 10 am. The cost for a membership is very expensive and then their new thing now is they are looking for members to donate 5 dollars, so the Y can provide financial aid to people who can't afford the membership, like I'm not already paying enough to cover the cost. If you have children, the cost may be worth it, but if not be prepared to be bombarded by kids and strollers with ignorant parents blocking the small hallways to get to the fitness center. If you put your children in the child watch, don't expect to have proper supervision. There was one woman in the baby room watching 10 babies at one time (which by the way is illegal if this was a daycare, but since it's not i guess there's no child to staff ratio requirements), but can one woman really care for 10 little babies? The equipment in the fitness center is nice, if it's not broken. When the cardio equipment is broken it takes about a month for them to fix it, which is not a big deal, except when theirs 2 ellipticals and 3 treadmills all broken at the same time. Looking for some one on one training. Their staff that do the orientation to the fitness center and show you how to use the machines have no background in fitness training or health. Their personal trainers are not in good shape. No offense but I wouldn't pay for someone to train me that can't keep themselves in shape. Overall I am getting more and more fed up with this place. Save your money. Go someone else. Pay less and don't deal with the crap from the Y. read more
