I strongly advise anyone considering Dr. Dental in Edison to STAY AWAY. I have never had issues with my dental insurance--it has always covered 100% of my services. However, this office has been overcharging me, billing incorrectly, and failing to verify coverage with my provider. I've had multiple billing problems and mysterious extra charges that were never explained properly. When I tried to get clarification, I was met with incompetence and zero accountability. I also contacted my insurance company that verified that they had been submitting extra charges, but the dental office will give you the run-around, as to not have to take accountability. Something is seriously wrong with how they handle insurance claims, and it feels like a scam. If you value transparency and honest business practices, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. This place is either completely disorganized or deliberately misleading patients to overcharge them. Either way, I will never be returning, and I urge others to be cautious. read more

Pathetic experience. I got a huge bill for the service I used in April month 2024 for me and my son. Receptionist and doctor both confirmed before starting any treatment that patient responsibility is zero. I double checked with doctor and receptionist and their answer was Dr dental Receptionist has confirmed everything with insurance CIGNA that everything is covered 100%. BTW it was just routine checkup cleaning etc that is completely free 2 times in a year. Highly disappointed for the service by them. I am spending my 3,4 hours talking to them and most of the time unnecessarily they keep patient on hold for 45 minutes when I cutted the phone and called back phone was picked up. 1. So I made an appointment and gave my insurance information to see if I was covered so I would know before I go. Did not happen, apparently the team does not know how to run insurance until you show up! 2. So when I get there my appointment was at 3:30, because that's what my text said. The front counter person proceeded to tell me I was wrong because my appointment was at 3 PM and I told him no it was at 3:30 PM and then he informed me that it was at 3 PM, until I showed him the text that said 3:30 PM. 3. Also it took him exactly 6 minutes to clean my teeth. If you think that's a good job and what you're paying for, sad! 4. Apparently this group does not know how to run an appointment book and does not proceed to call to see if you have insurance until you get there which waste both of our times. I got my teeth cleaned by these guys two years ago, and they are still calling me nonstop. I assumed avoiding their phone calls was enough but apparently not. For two years they have called me. Today they called my mother trying to find me. They seem a little too hard up for business if you ask me. This borders on harassment, today when I finally spoke with them on the phone they got argumentative with me and told me that it was my job to call them to tell them to stop calling me. So you can take this review how you want, the guy started yelling at me when I explained to him that it was rude to be calling me for two years... First of all, the deal on the door says $57 check-up, x-ray, and professional dental cleaning. The receptionist told me that it would be $67 because the dentist needs to take an additional x-ray to see which teeth are bothering me. She told me that right after the x-rays are taken, the dentist would check my teeth immediately afterwards. However, the x-ray technician who is also the dental hygienist told me that he takes the x-rays, professionally cleans the teeth, and then sends the dentist in to check everything over. I asked him if I was getting the extra x-ray. He did not know what I was talking about. He told me that the dentist might need additional x-rays taken. I asked him about the $10 additional x-ray. He told me that I would have to take the pricing up with the receptionist. Then, he treated me like a child while he was taking my x-rays by saying very good and please stay seated. I ran out of this dental office when all of the x-rays were taken and the dentist was working with another patient. Later on in the day, David the manager told me that my x-rays were going to be discarded because I did not pay for them. I did not pay for them because I felt like I was forced into having them taken. Plus, the dentist did not do her job ny looking at the x-rays to tell me what she thought of them. I ended up paying the office staff $25 to get a copy of my x-rays so that I would not have to go through the radiation of them at another dental office this soon. For the $25, the dentist should have at least looked over the x-rays and told me what she thought of them without me being there. The entire staff should be on the exact same page when it comes to office procedures. One person should know what the other person is saying and doing. I should get my $25 back that I paid for such a horrible communication job and the fact that the dentist failed to do her job properly. read more

Let me start by saying. I am petrified of going to the dentist. When I sat in the chair I was assisted by Jessica the doctor's assistant. She by far is the most compassionate person I've ever dealt with at the dentist. When Dr. Patel walked in I was in heaven she is the most gentle dentist I've ever ever been with in my life. The dentist on staff for my visit in Feb 2019 said I had over a dozen cavities and needed an additional deep cleaning on top of my regular cleaning. He did not take any x-rays and the regular cleaning took less than 10 minutes. For someone who needed more than a dozen fillings, wouldn't the cleaning take longer? I was suspicious and got a second opinion. Turns out I had NO new cavities and only needed two old fillings re-done. While the support staff are kind and efficient, the current dentist working there is practicing fraud. Please get a second opinion and protect yourself if you're being told you have major work that needs to be done, but you typically have good dental hygiene. read more

Dr patel is awesome but the front desk isnt great. The policy needs some revision. Its 2019 and I strongly recommend that you guys go electronic like most agencies. My appt has been cancelled 3 x by dr dental for multiple reasons. They cancelled my appt because I didn't give a verbal confirmation but however I completed an online confirmation that was sent by them. Why send an electronic confirmation if it's ineffective. Most agencies simply text or email you. Wait time is was always 20 -30 mins because of overbooking. The longest I ever waited was an hour , which happened on 2 occasions. After waiting an hour, they said, " were very busy today " " let's reschedule you ". Who has an hour to waste ?? I've been going to dr dental for 2 years because I love her work. I' will no longer be attending dr dental due to the policies and lack of professionalism with the front desk. Also, the front desk cancelled my appointment a 3rd time because they did not pre authorize my insurance and said , " sorry but horizon is closed on Saturday so we do dont know if you are covered ". I feel like they should've verified prior to me arriving. The front desk doesnt appear to have any sort of compassion or professionalism. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. They don't even deserve 1 star! I went in for a cleaning with no complaints on my first visit. The receptionist took my insurance card and pulled up exactly how much they will pay for services and even showed me. The dentist told me I had four cavities which never bothered me, but hey she's the dentist so I agreed to get them filled. After she did the first two I was in extreme throbbing pain for five days. I've had cavities filled before and never had pain this long afterwards. I decided to get my X-rays and go see someone else. They wouldn't give me the actual X-rays and could only email me the images. I went to the new dentist who told me I didn't have any cavities on the other side that dr dental wanted to fill. He had to fix the two fillings that I let her do. That place is a pure scam and only want to take your $$$!! A shame too, they take advantage of others without dental insurance by offering a low cost special. read more

Went for a cleaning because I had a coupon. Everyone was nice but the quality of the work was shoddy and rushed. I was in and out of the chair in less than 10 minutes. I went to have a cavity fixed at my primary dentist and Dr. Dental refused to give me my actual X-ray's due to "laws." When I got there I gave them my last name and said the appointment was for two people. Receptionist said ok and told us to wait. They took my wife first and then I thought I was going to get called next. They called someone else and my wife asked isn't my husband next? Honestly, I've been to a lot of dentists in my life and this was one of the best experiences. The dentist and staff were very friendly and also took the time to show me the ins and outs of what they were going to do with my teeth and also what was involved in my bill. The equipment was certainly better than other places that are the same "grade". (Ie other "chain" style dentistry offices) They accept walk ins and gave me an appointment right away. Really, they might not be super glamorous with certain equipment and maybe even services but they really do put in the time to make you feel comfortable with making decisions about your dental health and your wallet. No other dentist office has explained my bill to me like that, and no other office has taken the time to literally show me what they see in my teeth and what they want to do with it. (Most of the time other places might show me some fuzzy X-ray picture and show me a dark spot that I really don't see, but this place have me a mirror to check it all out! The place is also very new looking and clean! Highly recommended! read more

I went to Dr. Dental for a cleaning as they had a special going on for a $59 cleaning. Everyone was very nice, and paid close attention to my needs. The dentist stated that I needed a root canal and 3 fillings. I was going to go back to have my teeth serviced, but I found a dentist that I really loved and decided to go to him instead. Since my visit to DR. Dental I have been harassed non stop with Text messages, emails, and phone calls. They apparently got my file mixed with my moms and now call me to ask me how her visit's are. Even after emailing them, text messaging them, and calling them to ask them to stop, they still continue to do all of the above. They even went as far as to call me from an unknown number to ask me about my mothers dental visit, and told me that maybe my mother should clean her voice mail box out so they can leave her a message. I told the man over the phone that it is illegal for him to call me and ask my about my mother and her dental issues, and he hung up on me. I have never been harassed by a company before like this. Hopefully this review goes to the BBB. I will be calling them again first thing Monday morning to ask them, again, to remove me completely from the contact list. I doubt it will work. I may end up going to the police station just so they can do something about the harassment. Whatever you do, stay away! You get what you pay for! read more
