Be careful with their promises I had my implant installed by Dr Prabhu, and the crown on it was placed by my dentist (they do not do crowns at Oral Surgery Group). After a while the crown started to wobble. I came back to Dr Prabhu in hope that he would offer a quick fix to me. Initially he told me that he would just clean the assembly, but then he realized that it was too contaminated, and the implant has to be reinstalled. He told me that the whole job would be at no additional cost to me. He told me that he would do the implant reinstallation without charging me anything and he would reimburse my dentist for a new crown. Indeed he reinstalled my implant at no cost. However, when I had submitted to him a bill for a crown from my dentist (which I paid by myself), he stopped communicating with me. He does not reply to my calls or answer my numerous emails. I don't know if a verbal promise is legally binding, but it clearly would be more difficult for me to prove that he gave me that promise. read more

Before you do any service please check how much you have to pay. The billing department and personnel who handles the insurance claims are very unprofessional. I have two insurance plans and they sent a claim to the primary but not the secondary. Resulting in them trying to resolve their financial problems at my expense. They have now transferred the balance to a collection agency for them to try to collect. I requested they reach out to the secondary insurance company which they replied saying they did and it was denied. However, when I spoke with my insurance company they advised Oral surgery group never reached out to them. So they intentionally lied to avoid sending the claim to the secondary insurance company. Although, the surgery and Doctors involved were good. Due the issues I have experienced afterwards working with them I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Dr. Michael Stern patiently explained the need to remove my molar which my dentist had recommended preventatively due to my starting meds for osteoporosis. He removed the tooth so quickly and efficiently that I barely knew it was out. Everyone on the staff was lovely and professional. When I ran into a problem because of some thing I accidentally bit into a few days afterward and had to call the answering service, I received a callback promptly from Dr. Pradhu who called me again an hour later to see how I was doing and saw me first thing the next morning. Oh, the dreaded wisdom teeth extraction. No, mine were not impacted, but that is not the point here. After a little over two years, I felt enough was enough, and told my dentist I wanted to get them out. The discomfort level was getting to the point where it had to be done. My dentist set me up with an appointment with the Oral Surgery Group, the same group that my father and brother used for their dental procedures. I had an appointment on Columbus Day, when I met with Dr. Engel in the East Brunswick office. He was reassuring and gave a thorough consultation on what everything looked like and the best course of option to take. I was hoping he would pull the teeth that day, but for various reasons, he would not do it. Instead, I scheduled to get them pulled Black Friday, at the New Brunswick office with Dr. Richard Stern, as that is when most people in my family would be around to help. On that day I went in and being anxious, I met with Dr. Stern just before the procedure. He could not have been more comforting and kind. I was offered whether or not I wanted to keep my teeth. I was also offered a choice of music to listen to during the procedure, and made it quite painless. I knew what was going on, but my mouth was numb and did not feel anything. He was truly terrific. After the procedure (about a half hour I was told), they gave me a goodie bag of stuff to take home, and oh yes, the teeth were in there too! So far nearly a week in I can say I am happy I went here. My recovery has been as what you would expect, and I hope a full recovery comes in the days ahead. It was nice that they even called to check on me the next day after having everything done! Only went here based on a referral from orthodontist for my daughter who needed her wisdom teeth removed. The oral surgeon was very nice and explained everything but I opted to go somewhere else when it came to billing. I was told I would have to pay almost $800 upfront. I had to ask them to submit a predetermination to my insurance. Even with submitting to dental, I still had a large portion to pay up front, I don't remember exact amount but it was close to the $800. They wouldn't submit to my medical even though my medical would pay a portion. I was told they don't participate but my medical covers partial out of network. I also spoke to my dental to find out why I had to pay so much up front and they said it was the way it was coded. The billing ppl didn't think it was that big of a deal for me to pay so much up front, well I don't have that kind of $. Would definitely recommend going elsewhere. The new oral surgeon I went to submitted to my medical who covered a good portion and I had less to pay out of pocket. read more

I called to schedule a free consultation because I was referred to this place by my dentist after the consultation i was directed to a rep to check if it would be covered by my insurance when I sat down the rep told me there was a fee for today i then said to her no this was a free consultation and when I schedule the appointment no one mentioned that I would have to pay any fee if that was a case I would not have come she then said she was not sure about the fee and that she would find out she then said she needed my insurance info to get me a quote for the procedure and how much it would cost me after 2 weeks I got the quote for the procedure it's was way out of my budget so I decided not to go with them a few months later I received a bill for a free consultation they had billed my insurance and wanted me to pay the balance when I called to dispute no one answered I called several times then left a message the called me back 2 days later but I missed the call I called them back again no answer you could never get a live person I even had my insurance company call them and they could not get anyone, a few days later a collection rep called me I told them my entire story the lady ok hold on then she just transferred me to an answering machine without telling me I hung up then a few week later another rep called me and as I was telling about not being able to get in touch with anyone she hung up then another week I spoke to Heidi from billing I also explained to her all she can tell me what that she don't know and that I have to pay them be careful with this company do not trust them read more

Got my 4 wisdom teeth removed after being told by my dentist that they should finally go. I decided not to get it done at my regular dentist's office and get them done by oral surgery specialists. A friend recommended going to Oral Surgery Group as he got it done a few years back and had a good experience. It was a smooth process; come in for a consultation and then schedule when to get it removed. Dr. Simos took care of me and he did a wonderful job. I was in and out of surgery in about an hour and took only a day or two to feel normal again. I barely felt any pain through it all and this is coming from someone who went through years of braces - that was much worse! I wouldn't hesitate to return if I or someone I knew needed to get oral surgery done. It would definitely be here! read more

I went in 2013 to have my bottom wisdom teeth taken out in the East Brunswick location. Today I had my top wisdom teeth removed in the New Brunswick location. Both facilities were great. The staff is excellent. They made me feel at ease there. They explained everything to you even billing wise. If you do IV sedation which was the best as I have anxiety and couldn't be awake during. Soon as they knock you out it's pretty much over and your woken up. With removal of 2 teeth procedure was done in 30min. Both times I woke up fine with no reactions or pain. Dr. Michael Stern is not a good fit for you if you have any sort of anxiety disorder. He will rush you out of the office with little regard for concerns during the consultation and will tell you that "everyone gets nervous when they come in" even after you explain your situation. He will not explain anything regarding the wisdom tooth removal to you other than the teeth need to be removed, where you can make an appointment, and possible complications with the healing process. I had to call back and ask questions due to his rushed nature. I could not have my procedure done by him as a result of his lack of understanding and empathy. In addition to the fact that his rushed nature set off my anxiety even more. The only thing that he did right was stay calm while I was having an episode. I was transferred to the New Brunswick office with Dr. Tanchyk and she was absolutely amazing. I could not have asked for a better doctor in Dr. Tanchyk. Everyone else in the East Brunswick office that I interacted with was lovely and I wish them the best. The other staff I interacted with at the East Brunswick office and Dr. Michael Stern's professionalism are the only reasons I am not giving this a one star. read more

I came to the office as a first time patient. The receptionist was very welcoming and courteous. After filling up the forms, I was called into one of their procedure rooms in less than 15 mins. I was seen by Dr. Richard Stern and I must say, he's one of the best MDs I've encountered. This is a great oral surgery group! The staff is very friendly,and welcoming. You are greeted right as you enter, and the receptionist will immediately check you in. I did not find the hygenist who checked me in friendly. She did not smile, and had little to no personality. But, it didn't really matter to me, because I was only here for a consultation. So, it was really the doctor who did the work. I had Dr. Richard Stern who took care of me. Usually, I don't put the full names of doctors. However, since there are 2 Dr. Stern's here, I decided to be a bit more specific. He was very friendly, and accommodating. He answered all of my questions, and was very patient. The office is very clean and modern. All of the staff members were patient and kind. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I've put this surgery off for years out of fear. IMO, the go-to place for oral surgery. Both my pediatric dentist and adult dentist have recommended this group over the years. My mom and I have both gone to them multiple times; we've been to the EB and NB locations. Both are very clean inside and the EB one is very modern. Like most people, I was very scared to have my wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Richard Stern made the procedure as comfortable as possible. In fact, when I went back again for the next oral surgery, I wasn't afraid. The second time I went I had to have the IV inserted into my hand due to my elbow not cooperating. This did not bother me at all, and I had minimal bruising. On both occasions, I cannot recall much more other than when I woke up and the oxygen mask was being removed from my face. It really is amazing how the conscious sedation works it's magic. The nurses are very caring. They are nearby as you recover in the recovery section of the office. This section has private areas with little beds with a pillow and blanket. The nurse will call your loved one from the waiting room to see you in the recovery area once you are in this area. This is also where the nurse covers the post-op instructions with you and your loved one. My recovery time was very quick and overall, the post-op pain was less severe than I anticipated. This is a great practice that I highly recommend. We've seen both of the Sterns and have had "pleasant" experiences with our surgeries. read more

Today was my last appointment with the Oral Surgery Group , specifically Dr. Michael Stern, for a bone graft and implants . From start to finish ..from the reception girls , billing .. Dr. Stern and his assistant Jennifer my experience was wonderful . Well , as wonderful as having a bone graft can be ..haha ! I was taken care of in a clean , professional , friendly environment and I don't think I ever waited more then 3 minutes in the waiting room. Dr. Stern put me at ease by always keeping me informed as to what he was doing and Jennifer always kept me comfortable . After my surgery , recovery was quick and fairly painless . A couple Advil every four hours and I was ready to go back to work after a few days . I highly recommend using this group and I will be advising my family and friends to do the same ! read more

Let me start out by saying that I have pretty moderate medical anxiety, but from the moment I walked into the Oral Surgery Group, they made me feel so comfortable, especially in light of Covid. Dr. Simos was very thorough in his explanations and after my surgery, he even texted me to check in! He was there to answer any questions I had and was quick to offer advice and a follow up appointment if needed. I also want to recognize nurse Christina. Before, during and after the surgery she was so kind. Like I said, I have pretty moderate anxiety and I couldn't have a loved one with me due to Covid, but she made me feel so relaxed and safe. The Dr was absolutely wonderful. I could not have been happier with the two surgeries performed. Unfortunately they made several errors in quoting the price for the services and after I paid them twice in full for the exact amount they requested, they then proceeded to mail me an invoice for payment beyond what they quoted me twice. Very disappointed that they would not own up to their errors and then demand a minimal amount of money to clear up their repeated errors. Certainly not about the money, but the principal that you shouldn't charge one price and then not stand by what I had asked twice to confirm before the surgeries were performed. read more

The level of medical care I received here was exceptional. The doctor I saw was helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient. The office was clean, well lit, and aesthetically pleasing. The X-Ray technician was friendly, communicated well, and made no errors. My only complaint is that the folks working in their billing department were rude, condescending, and uninformed about current laws and insurance practices. They also hadn't seem to have ever heard of my insurance company, which is a large national insurer that they accept. This caused the billing process to take longer than necessary, and required my insurer's intervention to sort out. The way billing was handled here left a lot to be desired, and it stood out because this part of my experience was so inconsistent with the rest of it. For that, I must deduct a star. Despite this, though, I'd still recommend this practice to a friend, because at the end of the day what matters most is the quality of medical care you receive, and that was top-notch. read more

I took my son to Dr Michael E Stern six months ago to remove 4 wisdom teeth, I cannot say enough about him beyond professional, personable and quite a sense of humor. My sons recovery was a piece of cake not one pain killer was taken and I believe it was a direct result of his expertise. Today I needed an extraction he got me in ASAP and once again his expertise was proved, I only used Novocaine because of my trust in him I felt no need to be sedated. I would highly recommend him. I have been to the oral surgery group twice in the past six years. One time for a tooth extraction and today for my wisdom teeth extraction. I was under the care of Dr. Michael Stern and Dr. Richard Stern. Both Sterns were absolutely fantastic. Both know that I absolutely hate novicane and made me feel at ease for both procedures. The nursing staff and Kelly C from billing were fantastic to deal with. The nursing staff made me feel comfortable and answered questions to make both procedures as painless as possible. Not only is the staff great, the office staff provides great reminders through email and texts when you have your appointments. I would not go to another oral surgeon.
