Service: Basic Wash Luck was on my side today. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Detail PhD for a basic wash for today. Jovanny came right at the instructed time and got to work on my sedan. I got the basic wash, but not what I was expecting as a standard wash. Straight to work with vacuuming the interior and removing all stubborn dog hair and smudges. I figured they would be a problem, but I didn't expect him to be able to remove them. He gave my car the TLC that I could never give. I had high hopes for Dr Detail because it's a local (to me) business and I have neighbors who have used them. Unfortunately I didn't have a good first experience. I booked an early morning full detailing of my SUV. The price is $325 which I consider on the high end of auto detailing prices for non-exotic car treatment. What I got was just a regular car wash with a partial hand wax with work quality that wasn't at all detailed. The detailer arrived to my house 75 minutes later than expected. I wasn't feeling confident from this point on. Came out to check two hours later and the person was still vacuuming the interior. Granted the car was pretty trashed after a long road trip with kids and a dog, but I expected more progress after two hours. After the third hour the exterior was being washed. By the end of the fourth hour the detailer looked like they were buffing off wax. I came out and looked over the car and when I looked inside they didn't fold back the third row and so when I did it was like an entire section that wasn't clean yet with chip crumbs, wrappers, and such completely untouched. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt so I mention to the guy if he can clean this section and he agrees. But then I noticed that the mats had not been cleaned yet, just vacuumed. I'm accustomed to an auto detailing to include carpet shampooing. But at this point I had somewhere to be in an hour and was feeling like the clock was ticking. After the *fifth* hour I came out and the guy said he was done. I walk around and there's entire sections of the rear fender, the rocker panels, and the rear glass that looked like there was a layer of dirt, not wax, but straight up dirt still on the surface. I ask about this and he takes a dry rag and just wipes it! Then I look on the roof of the car and it had not been even waxed yet. He said he thought he did it but guess he forgot. I've lost all faith at this point and while trying not to show my unhappiness try and strike up some conversation. The detailer has only been doing auto details for three weeks. He just started working three weeks ago and I'm paying $325?!?? Turns out he was a new hire and not the guy I thought I was hiring - Kenny, the person I had been texting with for a couple of weeks who I thought was the owner. Geezus. In the end the car wasn't any better looking than a $75 dollar car wash from a typical service that does "express wax". The interior windshield glass was streaky, the mats just vacuumed, and the wax job wasn't very good. It also took 5.5 hours while also being 75 mins late on arrival and I was really, really unhappy. read more

Honestly, there's nothing but good things to say about Dr. Detail - when they say they're going to come at 7 AM. They're there at 7 AM and they even bring their own generator. They just need your water hose. I use to dread going to the car wash waiting, always over an hour, and then I'd have to inspect the car and have them go over it again and it was just a hassle but with Dr. Detail you know they're going to do a good job. I had an appointment at 1pm and got a call at 1:13pm that he was going to be 20 mins late. Without another call, the guy eventually came at 2:30pm. Initially I was going to let this go since I was going to be home anyway but because of the poor service I received, I need to make others aware of what to expect...or rather...what NOT to expect. FIRST: EXTREMELY LATE. 15 mins into my appointment time, the tech calls to say he will arrive in 20 mins. He doesn't bother to call again to tell me that his 20 mins will actually be 1 hour + 20 mins! SECOND: THEY DO NOT DELIVER THE SERVICES PROMISED. I called to request a vacuum steam clean for the carpets/seats of my car. The owner said they could do it and promptly scheduled me. However, when the tech arrived he didn't have a steam cleaner. WHAT, HOW? I told him that I expected a steam clean, but he said they use a "different" method & that he "could do a good job". Not being a carpet cleaner, myself I trusted him & let him proceed. Apparently, their carpet cleaning involves a hose + carpet cleaner + a wet/dry vac. Doesn't seem like the most efficient method especially if you are charging for it. The result was WET SEATS SOAKED WITH DIRTY WATER. When the tech was done, I noticed no difference in cleanliness. He explained that there were irreversible coffee or soda stains. Doubting this, I took white towels and dabbed the seats after he left. The towels were immediately soiled with dirt that was the same color of what he described as permanent stains. Now I have to spend more $ at the laundromat to wash the towels I used to clean up a job I paid $95 for. What a joke! THIRD: NO BASIC COURTESY. The tech dumps dirty vacuum filter dirt onto my lawn. Who does that?? FOURTH: ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY. I called the owner the same day to address these issues but he made no apologies. To add insult to injury, he offers a silly explanation for why dirty water still remained on my carpets. His logic: the dirty water surfaced and that the solution would be to vacuum more AFTER it dried. WHAT?! I wasn't even asking for a refund (although I should've)...I just wanted a sincere apology, if not a logical explanation for their cleaning method. TO CONCLUDE, this experience goes beyond unsatisfactory customer service. This is pure negligence and disrespect. BEWARE!! read more

So when I bought my new car, I decided to give them a try based both on their convenience and great reviews on Yelp - they didn't disappoint. Their guys are friendly, hardworking and detailed as the name suggests, but my review is specifically for Jacob. He is always punctual, shows up with the biggest smile and really takes his time. While this service if obviously more expensive than going to the carwash, is it very reasonable considering the work he puts in. I'd like to rate this guy higher because the business name is so cool . . . but he did a pretty lousy job with dent removal on my old Volvo a couple of years ago that I can't. It's a mobile service so he came to my place. The detailing was done fine although, frankly, it amounted to a car wash and a quick wax. Heck, I could have done that! Somehow I imagined more, well . . . detail. If you know what I mean. My mistake was taking him up on his offer to get out an annoying dent in the front side of my car. He said he knew how to massage out that dent (He didn't), and I'd had experts do it on my other cars before, so I agreed. But half an hour later all he'd managed to do was to make the dent worse. Something about Volvo sheet metal being too thick. Well, gee, it was a Volvo when you started working on it. Didn't you know that? I have no idea why I paid him since the job was lousy or why he even thought I should have to pay him for a job poorly done. The car was washed, though. Nice enough guy, but I'd never use him again for body work. For a car wash, I think I'll go to the car wash. read more
