I have been coming here for about four years now. I would not trust the health of my vision or that of my daughters to anyone else. Dr. Hernandez and his staff are the best. They've been in Huntington Park for I don't know how many years serving the community with or without traditional insurance providers. Dr. Hernandez is attentive, kind and professional. I, unfortunately, booked an appointment around his lunch time this year and was seen by one of the associate doctors there. She was just as good. Also attentive and kind. I have this thing about my eye and things coming near it and she was really good about working around this difficulty which to be honest is an uncontrollable spasm...ah! The staff is great and make an effort to remember your name and make the appointment as speedy as possible. The only thing I did not like and I didn't like when I first began coming here, although I see some logic in it, is the fact that you are asked to pick out a frame after you've been dilated. Grant it, it is not immediately after, but it is very hard to distinguish between colors and shapes when your pupils are the size of Raisinets. So far, I've been guided in the right direction and have not been unhappy with the frames I've picked out on my visits. I have a frame coming for myself and another for my daughter that I am told should be ready in a week or so...if my opinion changes on this, I will be sure to update my review. The sense I see in this is that it keeps you from having to make another appointment and come in for another visit to pick out your next frames and I'm sure they would be OK with having you wait in the lobby until the drops wear off for you to make a selection but there are very few of us who would do so. My word of advise: take an impartial judge with you [tell them you need a driver for the day due to the vision issue] and have them help you pick out a frame with you. Be sure this is the type of friend or acquaintance that would tell you if you have a booger coming out of your nose rather than snicker behind your back while you go about your day in public. As far as the location goes, park in the back and walk through the .99 cent store and make your life easier by not having to keep track of the meters out front...arrive early enough and you can kill two birds with one stone and get some shopping done there is also a Walgreens across the parking structure on the same lot. My experience at Doctors Hernandez office was as good one. They speak Spanish and ENGLISH, I mean not a big deal for me because I can speak both but definitely a plus. Dr. Hernandez Is the best eye doctor that I've ever been too (5 out 5 stars) and to me this is what I'm looking for at a Doctors office. Doctors who have many years (20+years)of experience and know how to connect and build a relationship with their patients. I've gone to a doctors office where the staff has attitude,like they hate their jobs, they hate Monday's , they hate breakfast, and they simply hate life. For example the Dentist office that's I go to. I still go to my dentist because he's the best there is,and even though there staff has this face like they smelled poop. I still go their because the DOCTOR is really great in his field! Ok back to Dr Hernandez... The customer service was ok, I'd probably give 4 stars out of 5. I mean, I don't expect them to give me a pillow and a bottle water as I wait (but If they did I'd totally give them 5 stars). I'm not sure how this office got even one bad review??? Goes to show you , you can't please everyone and some people are just straight out negative. Come on people get it together, you attract what you put out. Staff was very friendly ad helpful! ... and Dr. Hernandez was very nice and patient with my son (since he was falling asleep during the eye exam). Came in with my father whose appointment was scheduled at 1, still wondering why we're were in this facility for 3 hours. Don't understand why this happens every time I come. Dr. Hernandez was awesome and I was able to book my appointment a day before- very short notice but my wait was not long at all. I was seen within 10 minutes and before you know it, I was looking at frames. That's when things took a turn, hard sell. Yes I have insurance but I'm not going to get the 300 dollar frames that aren't even cute lol. I described the style I wanted and the lady helping me did go out of her way to find what I was describing. I found a pair I really liked but they didn't have my size there but she checked in the back anyway. She took a long while to come back and when she did, she had super expensive frames that looked nothing like what I was looking for. She described them to be just "a little bit more" aka twice as much. I said no to the giant hipster high fashion frames and ordered my normal looking Guess glasses. She forgot I had insurance and was charging me more than twice as much. I asked how much does the insurance cover and she says, "Ohhhh that's right! You have insurance!" She ordered the frame but a week later she calls me and says the distributor gave them the wrong size. So I waited another week for the frames and another two weeks for the glasses to be made. At that point, I sensed their attitude over the message they left me "If you're interested in picking up your glasses today, they have just arrived we close at 5.30pm." It was 5.20 pm and I was at work but yeah I was definitely interested since I called earlier that day at noon. Dr. was cool, I didn't like the staff. read more

Terrible service. Have been waiting for a month for my prescription contacts to arrive, when I was told me it would take a week. When I went to the appointment, I asked for my prescription and the Doctor stated she couldn't give that out until I purchase the contacts (scam much?). I called last week for them to send me my prescription and they said the person in charge wasn't in to do that. I waited for the holiday weekend to be over and called again to double check what was going on and they said the person in charge still wasn't in. When you purchase glasses from here do your research if they're original, I paid 200$ for some Raybans a few months back, and they broke from the side 2 weeks ago and took them to get fixed at a Ray Ban location and I was told they couldn't fix them cause they was NOT original ! One main reason why because they have made in China and the guy said Original ones are made in Italy another one is they all have the RAY Ban logo on it and the ones I bought here for 200$ had none of that only made in CHINA very disappointed read more

Update. Shortly after posting this review I received both an email and a phone call from this office. They seemed really genuine in their attempt to better the situation. I understand that the time for the delivery was out of their control but I liked that they reached out to me to see if I was still interested in the frames. I received my glasses already and am really happy with the way they handled this situation. Original. Truly disappointed in this place. I walked in to get new glasses and unfortunately they didn't have anything I liked. They offered to order the pair of glasses that I wanted and was told that it will take about three weeks ( two weeks for the frames to arrive and one week to assemble). I figured it's a reasonable time-frame so I decided to order them. Here's where it goes south... Three weeks passed and I didn't hear anything from them. I called them to check the status and I was told that they'd call me back. A day passed and I didn't receive a call. I called them the next day to follow up on the status and that's when they told me that my glasses had been ordered but were on backorder. I would have liked for them to have made an effort to call me and keep me updated. I asked if they could provide a time-frame and I was told that one couldn't be provided. At the end of the day, I had to walk in and ask for a refund. Staff was nice and helpful though. It's too bad that this situation unfolded. If it wasn't for the nice optometrist and the assistant I would've given them (if it's an option) no stars. For starters the ladies in the front seemed real standoffish, after I had my eyes checked they called me up to check out the glasses and the lady pulled out all their "on sale" glasses and when I asked for the name brand she seemed hesitant, I assume it was because of my insurance. When I glanced over to the girl next to me it seemed like she had the red carpet rolled out for her. My sisters a patient and she had told me they can take half of the total amount and the next half when you picked the glasses up, the lady didn't offer any options as far as pricing. When I went in to pick up my glasses, right away I noticed that my prescription was incorrect. No one could care less and all they said was they would put in another order for the correct prescription but wouldn't give me an estimate as to how long that would take.
