Even better, there were some cancellations and I got in for a first time appointment within two days. Despite the current environment, I felt good about the precautions that are in place. You've got to call from the car to check in before entering, stand on opposite sides of the lobby from other patients, traffic flows in one direction, and everybody has on masks (some people even two or three). Overall the office is clean and modern with the latest equipment. Will was my hygienist and was fantastic. He was incredibly thorough, explained every detail/reasoning behind each step, and kept up good conversation and laughs throughout. Although a short time with the dentist, she was thorough and informative. I don't know if anybody will ever look forward to the dentist, but this spot made a solid first impression!

But this review is going to be positive. I have been looking for a good dentist FOREVER! I am scared of dentists, I have problematic teeth which need a lot of work, and the bad experiences in my childhood left some deep scarring in my mind. My fears are not even about the pain, but more about the carelessness of a dentist. I switched a lot, I compared a lot. Bottom line - Dr. Tepe is not only a good dentist from a technical perspective (did a great job on my crown and fillings), but also a great consultant. He listens to you, he talks to you. I have a lot of questions, and unlike some other docs Dr. Tepe had the patience to listen to the end, he NEVER made me feel like my questions are irrelevant or stupid. When I asked about materials used for crown/fillings, he noticed that it was important to me, and explained to me all of the options. Don't get me wrong - he is very efficient and does not carry on endless conversations, but he manages to show that he cares while being straight to the point. I really liked that. During the procedures Dr. Tepe always made me feel comfortable, talking to me, frequently asking me if everything is alright, and explaining what was going on. Maybe I am too needy, but I really appreciate that kind of attention. There are many good dentists in Madison area, they are all technically well schooled and trained and could take on such complicated projects like me. BUT only a few are socially capable of establishing a personal connection of trust with their patients. Dr. Tepe's staff is great as well! Dr. Tepe found himself a new loyal customer! I was a new…read morepatient and this guy walked in after I was waiting for several long minutes with no other patients in the office before any work with the hygienist could begin, as though he needed to approve me personally and had the nerve to grill me like a race horse out of the gate with giddy anticipation about my healthy medical history by stating, "So you're as healthy as a horse huh? - but you smoke??" Then he went on to focus on my smoking by asking how much I smoke and if I tired to quit before to which I replied I had, to which he asked and so what happened and what I had tried, to which I brushed off and eventually replied that I'm obviously still smoking! It's the way you talk to people and this guys proposed message was lost with his ridiculous inflated brow beating style!! I have never experienced such a rude dentist in all my years. My blood pressure is always perfect but this guy took it to a new level. He needs to learn how to talk appropriately to people! I told him I didn't need to be lectured before deciding to ultimately get out of the chair and he went on to tell me it wasn't lecturing (convince yourself dude) and went on a further tirade about the dangers of smoking and oral cancer etc. etc. He started out the appt. in a sarcastic manner and apparently didn't like the lukewarm handshake I gave him and the fact I didn't consider his blabber god speak and asked if I usually go this long between appts. in a sarcastic tone! If there is chair side manner for dentists like there is bedside manner for a doctor this guy is an epic fail!!! What makes this otherwise negative experience hilariously fulfilling for me, is that the same night as my appt. on the local news, there was a story about how people are not going to the dentist regularly especially in the 24 to 30 something range. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out, as the dental profession are some of the most anal people on the planet, but they may just want to reconsider their chair side manner when their lack of business is featured on the news! After all, on their own paperwork it always asks about prior negative experiences and if you're afraid of dentists. A little compassion goes a long way folks!
