I had mole napping done in a previous clinic and they spent 30 mins going through in detail looking…read moreat each mole and photographing it. Skin check did look at each mole but did not photograph it and only spent 5 minutes on the whole body. I don't think the 100euro fee warrants that - again I would get my normal GP to do this level of check for a cheaper rate.

Being freckly and pasty white and from australia, well going to the skin cancer doctor becomes more…read morecommon than going to the dentist or normal GP. So after being 3 years (would never be allowed to get away with it back home) of not going, finally was getting my dreaded-ness that my eventual skin cancer was now there. So I managed to find a groupon voucher, which seems to be a regular occurance for 79 euro for a full body check, normally 99. now of course like any medical thing you shouldn't just go for the cheapest, but Dr. Karagaiannis (or steve) is amazing. Its actually a new start up-ish now (fellow aussie that lives here now) and is setting this up because, well, irish people do not understand that the sun is dangerous....i get laughed at wearing sunscreen in summer when outside, so this is a good business to set up and i am sure will become ever more required as the years get on. But was great, no awkwardness, which can happen, when you get checked over EVERYWHERE and also great he came in early to rathmines at 7.30 am so i could still get to work without having to take time off. Overall great doc, full check as you would back home, a few locations and flexible which is great, and cheap compared to most of my investigations around dublin. highly recommend and highly encourage the people of ireland to get checked! NB: only open in rathmines on wednesdays, but they have several locations and open monday to friday

I recently had a mole on my leg that my dermatologist recommende…read mored removing for biopsy. I was a bit apprehensive because I had previously undergone a similar procedure on my back for a very small mole, which left a noticeable scar despite only requiring three stitches. This time, the mole on my leg was also very small, so I was hoping for a careful and minimally invasive procedure. However, while filling out the pre-procedure form, the nurse assisting me confused "left" with "right" and mentioned she was very tired at that point in the day. I remember thinking I hoped she would not be the one performing the procedure -- but she was. The result was disappointing: such a tiny mole ended up leaving a scar that required four stitches that looked more like veterinary stitches, or when you mend clothes, very poorly done.I I even consulted my GP to ask if the stitches could be redone for a better cosmetic outcome, but was advised against it. Now I am left with large, unattractive stitches which will leave a scar. Beyond the technical aspect, I also found the overall attitude and communication lacking empathy and professionalism. Unfortunately, this experience left me with the certainty that I will not return to this dermatology department for any further procedures. It is a pity, as patient care and compassion are just as important as medical treatment.
