I have visited a number of acupuncturists over the years, many whom have been great practitioners. But they weren't more than a practitioner. They often felt like technicians going though the motions of what they had learned in school to administer rather than seeing the patient as an individual and using their instincts to craft a custom treatment plan. Dr. Petrov is in a class of her own - I believe she practices Traditional Chinese Medicine in....well the traditional way. In the way it has been practiced for thousands of years. At the time of writing this review, I am only three sessions in, however I can see a marked change in my body after 15+ years of chronic pain and dysfunction. I have been seeking a care provider that uses their intuition, experience and collaborates with the patient to help me sort out seemingly unrelated issues that I know are intertwined. For the first time in my adult life, I can actually see a path forward to healing and being free of chronic pain and dysfunction. I have hope now. Not a glimmer of hope, but full-borne CAPITAL H Hope that I might actually get to live a not only normal, but vibrant life post 40. Dr. Petrov's approach to having patients commit to at least three months of weekly care empowers the patient to be a participant rather than a passive recipient of technical applications. I visited Dr Sabrina's office today in Placerville. She was very thorough with my interview and took the time to understand what is important to me and what I expect to receive with treatments. I started seeing Sabrina while recovering from a frozen shoulder, and "OMG" she was literally a savior! Holy smokes! I don't think there are enough words in the universe to describe how wonderful Sabrina is! From the moment I met her for my first acupuncture appointment, Sabrina has shown me how acupuncture and cupping can positively impact my life, well-being, and physical condition. I'm an attorney by day, and I'm on an Olympic weightlifting team...meaning I'm excessively stressed out, both in mind and in body. I was so lucky to have run into a friend who referred me to Sabrina Marie while having a random conversation in a bank! She's amazing! I had been going to another acupuncturist for over a year who was treating me for back pain. Although she was great I decided to try Sabrina and I am SO happy that I did. I have been going to Wellness Within weekly for a little over 2 months. The work and space Sabrina Salzer, LAc provides for me has become a regular part of my self-care and I am forever grateful for her presence and knowledge of Chinese medicine. I've been seeing her to process normal life stresses as well as an experiment in facial acupuncture. Every visit, she is attentive and gentle (even though having needles in your face can be kinda intense!). During each session she applies the needles, lets me rest and after removing the needles she does this AMAZING treatment on my face... kinda like a massage with various special tools and leaves my skin glowing. She's also helped me with mild issues around digestion, tiredness, low energy, women stuff and not being able to sleep full nights. Just in 1 session I was sleeping solidly, and continue to do so! I don't even know where to begin. Sabrina has relieved me above and beyond anything I ever expected from acupuncture. Over the past 5+ years she has helped me through numerous sports injuries, knee surgery, breast cancer and significant life events. I am very active but was abusing my body with sports to the point of daily chronic pain when my massage therapist referred me to Sabrina. Suffice to say, I was not a big believer in acupuncture, traditional remedies, herbs, etc. I believe in evidence and proven results. I wanted something that would work, bottom line---and this does. I came to Sabrina Marie, MS LAc because my doctor diagnosed me with some physical health problems and wanted to put me on medication. As an alternative (and a last resort), I decided to try something different, and I'm glad I did! The Wellness Within office is relaxing and inviting, and Sabrina is clearly professional, educated, and very intelligent. She has a calm, soothing demeanor and gentle touch without being new-agey or spacey. The needles barely hurt at all. She was also very attentive and knowledgeable about my issues. I even brought my blood tests from my doctor and Sabrina was able to analyze them and tell me essentially the same thing my doctor had. She even drew out a graph of what was going on in my body so I could visualize the problem. Instead of suggesting drugs, though, Sabrina instead formulated a weekly plan for me which combines acupuncture and Chinese herbal teas and does not involve medication or any more blood tests. Without getting too particular into the health problems, let's just say after one week, I can tell it's 100% working---and not in a wishy-washy, placebo "I vaguely feel better" sort of way, this is a very black or white kind of issue that I have, and it's obvious things have changed since I started seeing Sabrina a week ago.
