Man. After leaving a shitty review for STK,I woke up with a sore ass neck. Karma. Stiff and couldn't move. Popped a pill, which brought some relief. But that can't be the solution. Looked for a couple massage spots, and came across Tong Zhang. I've always been intrigued by needle therapy and the skills of the Chinese so I had to give it a try, I trusted that I couldn't go wrong. The massage was painful, but dam, if felt the muscle being loosened up if that makes sense. The needle therapy was uneventful. First time ive tried it. I was a little scared, but didn't even notice it from a comfort perspective. I definitely felt one tingle a nerve as it went in. Walked out of there with some relief. Maybe 50% improvement. He has helped me with a number of injuries. Most of mine have been scar tissue related so can't speak to other types of injuries. The joint at the ball of my foot was painful. Western medicine takes an x-ray then tells you, you have arthritis and really nothing can be done. Dr. Zhang found that I have scar tissue in my foot. He has the ability to find the scar tissue (unfortunately, the area that hurts the most when he presses it) and breaks it via very painful massage. One session and I was good for over a year. After the second session, multiple years. He will look at multiple things in one session - he will divide the time accordingly. Note - if you shout from the pain, don't be embarrassed, as you'll hear other patients doing the same. He usually is helping others in different rooms/stations. He rotates. Usually massage, then acupuncture, then he goes to the next patient and comes back to remove the needles. Afterwards I'm always happy I went and survived the pain session. See Dr. Tong Zhang if you have any injury or ailment. I recently fell from an activity, got a fracture which resulted in frozen shoulder. Physical therapy did not help and luckily I remembered I could seek him for help. While the treatments can be painful. I'm finally improving. When I first saw him, I couldn't even raise my hands, but now I can raise them and my range of motion is widening too. Dr has now advised me to see him every other week. He doesn't ask you to come in more than you need to and he genuinely wants you to get better. His wife Anita who runs the front office is super organized. Got pain? This man is an old school pro. I've been going to him on and off for about three years for my numerous cycling and general life mishaps injuries. This place is legit.. unlike other places, Dr. Zhang and his wife don't "stretch" out the visit milking the system and he's honest about his treatment and timelines. I had four sessions with Dr. Zhang and there's definitely a big improvement.After the few treatment, Dr. Zhang said you're done and if the pain return come back and see me. The acupuncture part can be a bit intimidating especially if you're afraid of needles. You do feel a slight prick but the real feel is when he twist the needle. There is quite a bit of needle he uses, so remember to stay still. After the needle he'll give you a real deep "tui na" and prepare to scream. One bonus is they except Kaiser so if you're Kaiser plan include it, Dr. Zhang wife, Anita, will handle all the paperwork for you (you'll still need to fill out the new patient form and initial your visits) Parking in this area is plentiful and you can use the parking meter to buy a two hour time limit (the session last a little over an hour). Dr Zhang is amazing! Very clearly knows the body very well and knows how to fix issues. It won't be fun - his deep tissue massage HURTS but HELPS so much (no pain no gain!). He was able to completely fix my very severe tennis elbow in 3 visits. The facility is nice, clean and thy're following Covid-19 protocols very diligently. I am new in seeing Dr. Zhang. My experience with his felt quick out of all the acupuncture experiences I have had. I've been loyal to 3 Acupuncturist in the last 25 years I have been going. However, he is effective. He gives you an acupressure massage in the beginning that are hits directly the pressure points that needs to be loosened. You will definitely cringe because he wants you to feel the pressure. It's a bit painful, but I do understand that's what it takes to loosen up that area. I wish his acupressure massage was a bit longer. After that, comes the needles. If he feels it, he feels the need to shock you. Over all experience was good. The wife helps him run the office and she's very kind. However, I don't feel the Zen in the office because you don't have a private rooms. You will hear everything in the office. Tong Zhang (I call him Dr. Tong though I'm unsure about his medical pedigree other than he studied bodywork in China when he was 17. He is now 62.) Tong is exceptionally skilled at acupuncture and deep tissue massage. I saw him about four years ago for treatment of persistent neck pain. Dr. Tong's massage was quite painful while he was doing it, and it was painful for a day or two afterward. But then I felt much better. I had a few sessions, and my relief lasted for years. This year, my walking grew unbalanced and was getting slower and slower over the course of months. I love walking. Since I'm 72 years old and retired, I have the time for long walks, getting in 4-7 miles a day. But this fall my walking dropped to a half mile to a mile daily. I feared I'd soon not be able to walk at all. I went to Kaiser for acupuncture, which I found helpful for pain, and a physical therapist taught me stretches, which has greatly improved my speed. Still, I felt pain in my hip and my gait was off. Kaiser doesn't do bodywork. Time for Dr. Tong. Especially at first, I found his therapy immediately quite painful. I had two acupuncture sessions with Mr. Tong Zheng. He was empathetic towards my health issues, and I think he could have helped me if I had continued going to him, but his massage was way too hard for me to handle. He is definitely not for the faint of hearts. There is not a gentler mode with him, so I couldn't relax my body for the acupuncture. Overall my experience was very positive. I feel like giving Dr. Zhang a hug every time I see him for how he has helped me. I had scheduled microfracture surgery to deal with a cartilage defect that I thought was causing my various knee problems. My wife insisted that I at least try another way because the surgery is not a guarantee in terms of a good result and the recovery is terribly inconvenient (6-8 weeks on crutches with little weight bearing). Dr. Zhang examined me carefully for about 10-15 minutes and poked and prodded and contorted my leg in ways to help him ascertain what was wrong. At the end of this he told me confidently that my problem was not from a cartilage defect because I would have experienced discomfort during a particular point in the physical exam if I mainly had a cartilage issue. He also told me that he could resolve it in 3 months and that I would start feeling better within 1 month. He was so confident, and his prices are so reasonable that I gave him a shot. I am so glad I did. His prediction was accurate to within a couple of weeks. I feel much better now. I would say the knee is probably 90+% - good enough for me to run again every other day (I could not run without discomfort for last 3 years) and maybe play basketball. Please be advised that, depending on your issue, the treatment can be very painful if he has to work on scar tissue or other soft tissue problems. The acupuncture needles will not hurt too much, but the massage is painful. However, it feels better later in the day you get the massage, and quite good the following day. I really urge you to be patient and try to trust him. This guy simply knows what he is doing. He knows the body. I think he is a wizard with musculo-skeletal problems. He can help you if you can endure the treatment and have some patience and also work on your own to get stronger. I had an amazing result, and I feel so lucky to have met him. read more

I had been to the dr. About 3 years ago for a knee injury and was absolutely amazed at how much he helped the healing process of my knee. So I thought of him first when my back went out on me a few days ago. I live in Nevada Co. and drove 3hours for my treatment, Dr. Zhang has a gift of being knowledgeable and able to find out what is the problem and his way is uncomfortable maybe painful , but it is what is needed to help.
