I have used Lenscrafters for eye services since 2018 and moving back to Gainesville I wanted to continue, as they use an independent optometrist for eye examinations. I was a little skeptical based on the reviews but I'm happy I decided to get treated here. When I arrived - which was 10 minutes prior to my appointment as instructed - I was greeted by a welcoming staff. I promptly filled out my paperwork and my examination actually began with me visiting Dr. Rubin first. This is different as I typically see the optometrist last. However, he was very friendly and had great bedside manner. He made the experience very enjoyable. I explained my eye issues that I had been dealing with over the last few years - and he was able to quickly address them and even referenced me to a specialist. The staff was helpful throughout my duration at the practice. I even received a sample of more hydrating contacts that the doctor recommend, which have been amazing for my eyes. I highly recommend this practice if you're looking to receive an informative and helpful eye examination. read more

No customer service whatsoever. The first thing out of their mouths is "there's nothing we can do" regardless of the problem.

I live 1 hour away. Took time off work for an appointment that was scheduled for weeks. 15 minutes before the appointment they called and cancelled. Reluctantly I rescheduled - having to take off work yet again to get here in time. Due to an accident on 75 causing heavier traffic than normal caused me to arrive 10 minutes late. And was canceled/postponed upon arrival. His inconvenience to my schedule isn't relevant but my being late due to no fault of my own is inexcusable. Find a more considerate Optometrist to give your money to. read more

The lack of customer service is truly astounding. Incredibly rude office staff. Was a customer for over 3 years, but between two days I was cancelled on twice for being 11 mins late rather than 10. Their claimed to be booked up but while I stood in the lobby it was empty. To top this off, incredibly rude staff and mildly condescending treatment. If you are promptly on time, there's no issue. If you are running late they will make no concessions to assist you at all. This is a sales shop, they care only about making sales on their contacts and glasses from the attached lenscrafters. Really great service from the staff as well as Dr. Shaun Brennan! My husband and I just relocated from Chicago to Gainesville and was referred to Dr. Ted Brink & Associates at The Oaks Mall by my husband's colleague. Having gone to the same optometrist in Chicago for 11 years, I was a little anxious at my first appointment yesterday with a new optometrist. However, the friendly staff and the impressive latest technology in eye care equipment all put me at ease. For some reason, my eye doctor in Chicago did not have all the latest gadgets I saw at Dr. Ted Brink & Associates perhaps because it was a small, boutique eye care office. In any case, the professionalism shown to me here was exemplary and matched the same professionalism I was used to in Chicago. Looking forward to going back for a new pair of glasses! read more

That is hilarious that someone else has written a review on the terrible management. Not to mention, showing how unprofessional she is! Does she not realize that posting images of patients paperwork will affect their company? My first appointment, I knew I wouldn't ever return. The entire time I was there waiting, a whole two hours, the MANAGER was at her desk, on her cell phone, and never once acknowledged patients or her employees. As a manager, you should be more attentive to your patrons and staff considering they are the ones keeping your job alive. In addition, the office seemed chaotic. All of the employees seemed to not have a control of everything because they weren't being properly ordered by their boss. It was unfortunately. I'm sure all of the staff is capable; however, not having a guide can cause issues when the office is busy. The manager never acknowledged the amount of time or money that we patrons put into our appointment. Instead, she was more concerned about her cell phone. That's unfortunate. Dr. Rubin rocks! Everything about him is great. It's unfortunate he has to work with such immature, unprofessional management. He should work somewhere else!! read more

I went to the Gainesville location for an eye exam with no other complaints, did the Optomap, got my prescription, and paid my bill. Over a month later, I received an invoice in the mail for an additional $45 specialist copay for my medical insurance. I called the Gainesville location, and later a Jacksonville location, where employees claimed I told them I had floaters for the past two months. I demanded documentation from my visit and found that not only had my medical history been altered to include floaters (I've never had this or claimed to), but the doctor included notes talking about possible retinal detachment and that I was educated on the topic. This never happened. My health insurance was billed because of this. Employees made me go back and forth for a month before finally admitting to wrongdoing and sending me an invoice for $0. They also included a letter banning me from their clinics because I caught them committing insurance fraud and demanded my insurance be refunded. I should have waited to see Dr. Rubin, but he only works once a week. He's a good guy and probably the only person at this office with integrity. read more

This place is a joke. They will jack up the price and they are very incompetent. The desk is run by wet behind the ear newbies with no experience and the prices are inflated by fictitious charges. Do yourself a big favor and do NOT go here go to a reputable place and get a decent exam for a fair price. You have been warned. read more

Make sure what services you're paying for if you visit this office. I've been a patient for years, and Donna, at their Admin. Offices in Gainesville, Fl, is incredibly rude and condescending! I had an appointment on Jan 2, 2020 for a regular eye exam. On that day I saw Dr. Bradley Kirchner, not my regular doctor. When he found out I was diabetic, he took it upon himself to perform a diabetic eye exam, but neglected to tell me. We paid our bill and left. On September 1, 2020, over 90 90 days past due, I receive an invoice for $170 for services they said were denied by my insurance company. Apparently you need a referral from your pcp for this exam. I did not have one because I was getting a regular eye exam. I had to call me pcp to request a referral dated back to January 2020, per Brink's office. I called Brink's to confirm they had gotten the referral and was told everything was fine. Now it's October 27, 2020 and I receive a collection letter for $210! I called my insurance and was informed they don't pay for this service out of network. Apparently Dr. Kirchner is not a network provider, even though Dr. Ted Brink & Assoc. is. Not only am I stuck with $170 bill I did not expect to have, but also $39.10 of collection fees. For a grand total of $210. Be informed of what your insurance covers, what services you need, and how much it's going to cost you. No one from this office had the decency to call me in the eight months after my appointment to inform me I had a balance to pay! And when I called them and was referred to Donna at their Administrative Office, she was very rude, condescending, and not helpful at all!!! I have a great credit score, and due to these incompetent people, I am fighting with a collection office! I believe Brink's office has blocked my phone number because every time I call, I am routed to their answering machine, and no one calls me back! Horrible experience! read more

I just visited Dr. Kershner for the first time and was deeply impressed. I am a physician myself so I have high standards when it comes to clinical expertise. Beforehand I was a little concerned about his location inside a LensCrafters (Oaks Mall) but Dr. Kershner was very clear that he was not a part of the LensCrafters and that there was no pressure to make a purchase with them - it was a matter of my own convenience. His staff performed a very competent glaucoma check which not everyone does unless you are over a certain age - I liked his thoroughness in this since glaucoma can hit at an earlier age. He also had a camera that took a picture of my retinas. This did three great things: 1) It allowed me to examine my own retinas (not everyone's cup of tea but nice to know what he's looking at, regardless), and 2) it made it so he didn't have to dilate my eyes (there was an option for follow-on dilation if there were any concerns), and 3) it lets him keep a picture so that when I return he can compare old to new photos and find subtle differences, sort of like having a mammogram at the same place each year so they can see what is normal for YOU. He did a very efficient and thorough corneal/scleral exam with a slit lamp, which not all opticians do terribly well - some are too busy getting to the part where they sell you some glasses, but as I have said, Dr. Kershner has divorced himself from that part of things. Finally as he was sorting out my new prescription he did an excellent job of explaining his reasoning in assigning one prescription strength versus another, weighing the increased cost of multifocal lenses against the benefits they would bring. He even wrote out two prescriptions, one that would be less expensive but perhaps not as comfortable, and another that would run to the higher end on cost but would give me the best result at all distances, giving me the option of which to buy later. Finally he checked my distance vision outside in the lobby so that he could verify what we saw in the smaller exam room. I was really impressed by this final check to make sure things were just right. Great hours, great price, great location. Best feature, though, is Dr. Kershner himself. He is a true professional who keeps his techniques and equipment up to date but does not fund this by pushing pricey frames. I will definitely be his patient for as long as I am in Gainesville. read more

I brought my mother in for an annual eye exam recently to the Doctors office in the back of Lens Crafters. I was sorely disappointed with the optical and doctors staff unprofessionalism. Dr seemed helpful and friendly, but I cannot justify more then 2 stars for this office unfortunately. read more
