I needed to get new glasses, so I stopped by this place before my vision plan ended. Their medical staff are top notch. Thorough and exacting. They also have a great selection of frames. I have a low nasal bridge and still found plenty of options for myself. Now, getting my glasses was another story. In their defense, I had an unusual request, but made it clear that I needed it to be delivered to an address out of state. The first attempt - it was mailed to my old address, which is what I asked them NOT to do. Understandable, so I asked what could be done to help the situation. They had my glasses made again without an extra fee and eventually had it mailed to my updated address. This roundabout way of getting my glasses is the only reason why I'm giving a 4/5 instead of 5/5. read more

My glasses are blurry. My bifocals are great and perfect. I was told to give it a few weeks which I did but it has not improved. Also, my left side frame broke this morning. I went into the Gainesville office and was told the prescription was correct and I must be mistaken, MAYBE we could get me re-examined and since I did not get a warranty, I would have to replace my broken 2 1/2 week old glasses out of pocket. I am so very disappointed in the service and when I basically said I would suck it up for the year but not be back, she basically responded with, OK then. I know my little $270 annual business means nothing to your company but there once was a day when companies hired people that wanted to please their customer out of a sense of pride. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. "10 days glasses" promise, now OVER A MONTH AND NO GLASSES. They never contacted me, I have to pursue them and call week after week, still only promises. Last week they said "next Tuesday" which came and left, still no glasses. Today's excuse is (wait for it...) "the lab couldn't make them and had to outsource to another lab." What? I came in for my annual eye exam and I had a really great experience. While we were waiting for the doctor, I had a pleasant conversation with the technician who helped me with the preliminary tests, but I forgot to get his name :( Regardless, it was nice, and it felt like I was barely waiting at all. During the actual buying of the glasses, Wheeler was an absolute godsend. He showed me a rack specific to my insurance that pretty much made them free, was honest in his opinions about how they looked on me, and didn't try to upsell unnecessarily. On the contrary, actually. He was very honest about what services he genuinely thought I would benefit from and what I wouldn't. He was also super nice throughout the whole process. Very frustrated that we weren't told ahead of time that you couldn't pick up eyeglass prescriptions every other Saturday because they didn't have a doctor present. The exam was already done so we just needed to pick them up but they refused and couldn't offer any explanation why we weren't notified of this in advance, other than being short of staff. Not acceptable, as customers should be aware when services are limited so we can plan accordingly. We based our pickup options based on their open hours. I'm still confused why they were even open on Saturday if there was no doctor present to do exams and they couldn't allow prescription pickups for the same reason. Hours should be adjusted to include hours that service can actually be provided. Hopefully, others can avoid being frustrated with their time being wasted at this location. Mildly disappointed that I'll need to find another service provider based on the extremely poor customer service I received today, but I can't overlook the lack of communication despite admitting they know it's a problem and claiming they have made their own complaints to corporate. read more

This was my first experience ever going to an eye doctor. I was a bit weary because of the less than stellar reviews. However I wanted a place that would be able to see me quickly and at convenient time. I tried getting appointments at other eye doctors with high reviews and appointments were a month out or limited hours. Meanwhile MyEyeDr. OD was able to see me just 3 days away from when I contacted them. I got a 5pm appointment during the weekday and I was even able to reschedule just 2 days before my appointment to a later date. It was an easy experience the entire way through, and I loved how accommodating they were. Booked through the web, text message reminders all the things that make it easy for me. As for the actual appointment the doctors that saw me were all nice and straightforward. I was nervous that being my first time and knowing that it was more of a chain eye doctor location. I was going to get pressured to purchase extras or not be able to use my own frames,however that was not the case at all. I told them what I wanted and they were able to do that easily with no hassle. In just a week I got a text message to pick up my glasses and it was really that simple. I am not sure why others have had different experiences, but for a no-frills in and out kind of place this was perfect and I would easily recommend to others. They didn't have the latest and greatest eye tech (some of the offices looked a bit dated), but they got the job done and did it on my own time. Our family has gone here for years, from when it was Lange Eye Care through the transition to MyEyeDr. Dr. Adkins was great for exams and the front desk/counter staff have been helpful. They take our insurance plans and it was convenient and positive. But the front of the store staff who fit customers and help with eyewear purchases have had complete staff turnover in the past 12-18 months. We missed Kyle, who was very customer focused and got it right the first time, every time. Last fall we were expecting our usual great experience with someone new to help us get new glasses (several pairs). Everyone in the store was new since our last visits. We had to return for adjustments and were made to feel we were a nuisance regardless that the issue was not our fault. The front store manager (Melissa/Michelle/Melanie?) has a rude, abrupt manner. We saw this with us, with the employees and with other customers. My daughter later asked why the lady was mad at us after she helped us the first time. When we returned with an issue she badmouthed the employee who had helped us before and another employee said he was fired. So unprofessional to place blame and not assume ownership. We have had a terrible shift in our customer experience. We are taking our business elsewhere this year for the whole family. Too bad. The eyewear selection was quite good but there are many other options in Gainesville also on Archer Road. We make a big investment and will spend our money where we are appreciated and the staff are more competent and professional. Wow!! Great customer care today!! I had actually made another appointment with a different office here in town but the gentleman on the phone wasn't so friendly so I called here instead. And immediately changed my appointment because Michelle was so very nice on the phone. When I got there she greeted me and explained me everything having to do with my insurance and what was covered, and was super friendly. The tech that took me back I don't remember her name ( sorry she was so sweet!) was very informative and helpful as well!! I saw Mrs. Gonzalez for the eye doctor and she was very thorough and nice, and I checked out with Mr. Wheeler for my contacts and glasses and he was great at helping me pick out some new glasses, letting me know what my insurance covered and super friendly. This place was recommended by a friend for their convenience and speed and I was not disappointed. I scheduled my appointment online and it was confirmed by both email and a phone call. On the day of my exam I received a call from the location letting me knowy that I could bee seen earlier if I would like. When I went in there was just a little paperwork, a few minutes wait, then I was seen. Everything went quickly and smoothly. My only critique is that it was kinda dirty in the front area with the chairs. My wife said she say a bunch of ants in the waiting room. My wife made an appointment for herself and my daughter to get their eyes checked and get glasses. The day before the appointment she received a confirmation correspondence to which she responded and confirmed the appointment. The next day they drove an hour to get to the Gainesville store and were told that they did not confirm the appointment so it got canceled. After walking out to the car, my wife looked through her phone and she found where she had confirmed the appointment. They went back in, and were simply told it was just too late to get them in and that their appointment had been given to someone else. Apparently they must be making so much money that they can make decisions like that to turn away customers that have followed all of their steps. If I were a manager or CEO of a business where something like this went on, I would have bent over backwards to make amends. This is an atrocious way to treat customers, and I will make sure that everyone I know is aware of the kind of customer "no service" that goes on at "NOT My eye doctor". read more

I would suggest going early as it seems like there can be a wait as the staff takes their time to make sure you get exactly what you want. Contrary to the majority of reviewers on this page, I had a great experience here. I did not check Yelp prior to going to myeyedr, because two friends recommended it based on their experiences. I brought up the terrible yelp reviews to a staff member while paying, and she explained to me that myeyedr bought the practice from a physician and those reviews are from the previous practice. Now, to the review: I have been to various chain-type eye places over the years, but this was the best of all experiences. I was in the area and decided to see if there were any walk-in appointments available. They were able to fit me in just 20 minutes after I arrived. During that time, I observed that the staff had great rapport with several customers returning to pick up their frames. The front desk staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful when it came to deciding which services to utilize to make the most of my vision plan. Note: they take VSP and EyeMed vision plans. My experience at chain-type eyecare places has generally been that of cattle-- get in, get out, and onto the next. Not here. Dr. Ho gave me a very thorough eye examination, and explained everything to me in great detail. Beware: they will try to sell you their annual contact lens package (it does come with a pair of sunglasses and 50% off of a complete pair of frames), so do the math before you go to make sure you know what works best for you. Don't be afraid to table the decision and do research before returning. I did not feel any sort of pressured sales tactics, and the staff member that worked with me for contacts and frames was very helpful with answering any questions I had regarding pricing and the annual package. read more

If you bring your own frame, or god forbid- need a prescription for online ordering, expect to be insulted. I've been going here for six years now, and feel I can provide a fair review. Up until this year I would say it was pretty much your average eyeglass place. Good selection, good service and average turnaround time. I've generally been able to walk in and get worked into the schedule which I appreciate. This year when I walked in my usual doctor was booked pretty far out due to the backlog from Covid I was told. However they would be able to work me in if I was willing to do a telehealth appointment. I thought why not all of my other appointments have gone virtual so when I give it a try, but how could you do a virtual optometry appointment? Turns out it's exactly like a regular appointment only tech is with you the entire time and the doctor is on the computer screen. The fascinating part is that the doctor controls the optometry machine remotely. Just as if they were there in the room with you. All of the scans of your eye are uploaded to the doctor in real time and you can see the results on the screen along with them. The only difference I noticed was that the prescription was only good for one year versus the typical two year. I highly recommend you give this a try. I would also discount the negative reviews from years past. There's always bad apples but the current crew seems typical and responsive. For those that talked about the upsell for coatings on the lenses, you can say no and there is no pressure. However I can tell you those coatings really help with glare and eye strain. To me it's worth the investment in my health and aging eyes. read more

The poor attitude I received as soon as I walked into this building and walked into my eye check was absolutely insane. I have never been treated so poorly by staff. Dr. Atkins is great and sincere, but the surrounding staff needs a complete attitude adjustment. I definitely will not return to this location due to poor customer service / staff. The blonde, older in age, assistant to Dr. Atkins talked to me as if I was a child. Her excuse being "sorry I'm so used to dealing with older generation" ... They have a huge place inside. They did a very professional and through examination for my daughter. Optometrist was great. Service in the front area was just ok. Actually it could be much better. Once we had picked the frames we were getting they used a negative sales technique on me to try to get me to upgrade the lenses with a UV coating. Listen, I understand a huge chunk of the money they make is in selling up-charges, but the girl with black hair and tattoos shouldn't lecture me in front of my daughter on not being a caring Dad if I don't get UV. I'd go here again for the Optometrist but I will now buy my glasses from Zenni Optical online where I get the same frames, lenses and free UV and scratch guard for $15. read more

This is one disgusting business. Dishonesty is the theme. I came here to get LASIK as advertised on their website. After a long wait, a nice young optometrist did a great job of discussing the various types of procedures and answered my questions. At the end, I asked when can we get the surgery scheduled, to which he replied, "Oh, we don't do LASIK" and referred me to a LASIK surgeon in Tampa. Why does the website claim that they do LASIK at the Gainesville location if they do not? The misdirection is curious. So I get LASIK in Tampa and have actually paid to get my 1 week, 1 month and 3 month post-op appointments at the Lange Eye Center, but through the Tampa LASIKplus business. Lange Eye Care gets paid for leads they refer to LASIKplus and is then paid by LASIKplus for the post-ops. Seems shady not to let the customers know up front. I didn't even know that I had already paid for the post-ops until I had already gotten one. For one of three post-op appointments that they force you to do with the guy who is never around, I showed up to the shop and it was closed!!!! Imagine having a doctor's appointment, and the doctor doesn't feel like coming in that day. The office was closed!!! WOW! They put a piece of paper on the door explaining to their "valued customers" that they decided to not open their doors for the day. I had an appointment! That is a commitment between the business and the customer. If the business doesn't open, trust is broken. It is a sign that they do not care about their customers. The doctor has the time to do Mon-Fri radio shows to market his business, but can't even make it to his own appointments! You walk in and feel more like you're at a used-car lot than an eye doctor's office. This business is more about selling than about eye care. You wait at least 45 minutes beyond the appointment time to see the doctor, then they make you wait another 30 minutes in the exam room and the receptionists are VERY rude. It is incredible to me that any business could function this way. I think that Dr. Lange simply chose to expand beyond his capacity to manage. He has six locations, a radio show, and a line of vitamins. He simply forgot to run a decent business before spreading it and creating a large business. I wish Dr. Lange great success, but hope that he puts some time to improving operations so that the customer doesn't continue to get shafted. The takeaway is, as a customer, expect to wait a very long time, receive sub-par service, and to get far less than what is promised. read more

It is a nice place inside, but I went to see if I could get my pupil distance properly measured and was then going to gauge whether I wanted to buy from them or elsewhere. I was given some nebulous excuse regarding liability as to why they don't do it. She then told me if I buy from them, I can find out but that they didn't want me to get it measured, order elsewhere and then sue them if it was wrong. I actually know a fair amount about medical-legal stuff (I'm a doctor) and that is wrong. It is OK if you are honest and say you only do it for paying customers, but don't cite false reasons. If they had given it and were sociable, I honestly would've considered buying from them because I enjoy supporting local businesses and having somewhere to go to, but being treated like a walking wallet and not a human frustrates me. read more

If a customer calls to inquire about certain exams and to make an appointment as a new patient, it would be nice if the front desk could be even a little nice and helpful throughout the process.
