The restaurant itself looks very nice and clean which is why I was extremely taken back that the service, food, and communication between staff was so horrible. The Motitios were good, everything else was absolutely horrible. The prices do not reflect the quality or service and I left feeling robbed of my time, money, and appetite. I usually give places the benefit of the doubt but Drafthouse showed me that they clearly do not know how to operate a business correctly. The food was horrible quality and the manager, Matt, did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation. (Please trust me when I say it was bad). It's sad that my first experience in Janesville was so bad and it unfortunately made me want to leave the city as a whole. This week was my father in laws 78th birthday. We live out of state but still wanted to have/provide a birthday dinner. We saw that the drafhouse was offering delivery service so we jumped on it. Sent him the menu via text for him and my mother in law to choose their dinners. Using the eatstreet app we were able to place the order and set up the delivery time, very easy process. We wanted to share his text message to us regarding his meal. The burger was great and done perfect And Mary's Mac & cheese was fantastic very good portions plus the containers were nice. Nice place in downtown Janesville with a lot of beer & cocktail choices. Food service was slow & the California Chicken Sandwich left a lot to be desired. The chicken was tough & stringy to the point that I didn't finish it. However, the crispy brussel sprouts & cheese curds were good. read more

A BIG pass. Started with a guest being served a Cosmo that was literally a shot. The flatbreads were like a Saltine cracker. The toppings sparse. Wife's Thai Shrimp had 4 small shrimp in a sauce that was remarkably close to Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ. Other guest had an entree of Tiger shrimp. 4 shrimps of decent size, heavy coating, should have had 6 of this size to be considered an entree. Wife mistakenly ordered a fudge cake for dessert. Slim slice. Stale. $10! Probably a good place to get a drink and some bar noshes, not a place to have a full dinner. read more

My husband & I went to try out this place in late summer-early fall. We were greeted at the door and requested a table outside (nice weather, but also a pandemic). There were other people eating outside. We saw several servers at other tables nearby, but in 10 minutes nobody so much as said "hello" to us. We literally walked out. I moved to Janesville a few months ago and drafthouse has been my go to restaurant for one main reason. Their menu is a work of art. The chefs here embody the essence of the art of cooking. There are unique flavor combinations that may sound odd at first glance, but if you give them a shot they are an amazing sensory experience. This is rare to find in a restaurant (especially in Janesville) from my experience. They also have a very nice beer menu if you like that sort of thing. This place has it all. Great food, amazing service, and a spot that's super convenient right downtown. The menu is surprising and has items that could tempt the toughest customers. We ventured into this establishment to see what they have to offer in a limited option market. The ambience was ok, not repulsive but not impressive. The service was solid for the night, no complaints. A pretty basic cocktail list and an underwhelming selection of beer for a draft house. We ordered crab dip, scallops, and a burger with brisket in the patty (don't remember the name). Scallops had a nice complimentary asparagus couscous side, a little over cooked but nothing major. The burger was solid and the fries had a unique cut that was prepared perfectly. The crab dip was enjoyable with a nice fried dough type cracker for spreading the dip on. The prices were remarkably high for a small market like Janesville. I'd expect to spend this in a nicer part of town in a metropolitan area. I was dumbfounded an Impossible Burger could be $16. The appetizers were high in price, the crab dip was $14. We needed more "bread/crackers" to finish off the dip and were unexpectedly charged $5 to essentially eat two pieces. In total the dip would've been $19 if we didn't complain to the manager! We were given lame duck excuses for why we needed more bread and were charged $5 for an "order" of it. I don't buy that we got an over portioned dip or the material cost of the bread was justifiable, bring us a couple pieces or let us know about the additional charge. Overall the place was good, but the price was too high for lack of ambience, no view, and location. Really put off by the bread ordeal and the manager's impersonable approach. read more

I have to say this place surprised me in many ways!! The atmosphere is trendy , the large bar is beautiful!! The crab dips is sooo amazing and the pretzel and beer cheese is killer!! They make Amazing mule drinks too!! The only thing I had an issue was that they asked us if we needed more flat bread for dip and they said ok I'll get you some . Same for beer cheese . But when bill came I was charged $5 for extra dippers and $3 for extra cheese!! Kind of ridiculous and that's something you should tell your customers when they ask for more and there is a charge . It's a little sneaky and was not too happy about . It definitely a nice place but would not sit and have a few drinks as they are pricey too. read more

I've been going to drafthouse for a couple years and have brought multiple friends and family to this restaurant because I loved their food and ambiance. Disappointingly, me and my friends and family will not be coming back. I received a private message from one of their staff stating one of their servers complained to them about not being tipped. To my surprise I received a long paragraph accusing me of not tipping or knowing how to tip. The issue was I did in-fact tip. I told the server to take 22% tip off of a $21 meal and gave $40 to receive only $7 back. I was stolen from and was upset but I had no proof to show they had stolen from me and did not want to look like I didn't want to leave a generous tip so I just chose to leave without a fuss. I have worked at a Michelin Star restaurant where servers are in fact upset they don't receive tip but never would our staff send private messages about it or steal from a customer. Baked French onion had no broth and was cold. How does that work? Scallops were over cooked. They clearly do not know how to make a Korbel Old Fashioned, are we in Wisconsin?
