I am so happy that my family chose Aero Ale House as our lunch destination while we were in town for soccer. We loved the airplane decor, which included actual seats from a plane. Too cool! We were greeted right away by our friendly server. The music playlist was perfection for the millennial that I am. I had the Apple cider margarita and our server said the Apple cider was local. My drink was awesome! My husband had a bacon pepper jelly burger that he loved. My daughter and I shared starters. We had the pretzels, the buffalo chicken spring rolls, and the macaroni and cheese balls. Everything came out piping hot and everything tasted great! We especially loved the buffalo chicken spring rolls. Our server recommended all of our apps and we loved each thing! A lot has changed since my last review! They've added on a lot of dining space and even opened an outdoor patio which is really nice. They also changed up their menu a lot. They offer a much better variety of food than last time we came. I got the avocado chicken wrap which was too saucy for me (I don't think I've ever said that about anything), I wish I got any of the tacos instead, those were great and I love that you can make them into a bowl now. The chicken tenders were hand-breaded and delicious, my kids are super picky and they loved them, and we might have sampled them too (a little too much). We called and made sure they had room for a group of 8 and they got us in due to the time of day I'm guessing. I had the burger, decent pub burger but my friend's several of the specialty burgers and said they were delicious. We did have a few appetizers as well that were great for sharing. Stopped in for a late lunch after an afternoon of hiking at Rock Cut State Park. We were seated quickly and because it was in between meal times, the place wasn't crowded. Our server was very pleasant and welcomed us with menus (the drink menu was a QR code at the top that we saw after we had been looking for a bit, but they have many selections and we were in no rush at all so we ordered food first and then decided on drinks next. I tried a flight of some delicious local sour beer (one of which my husband liked so he ordered a pint of for himself). We then shared a Cobb salad and fried chicken sandwich. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! The Fried Pickle Burger has two smashed patties, fried pickles, cheddar that I swapped for American, smoked bacon, Cajun sauce on potato roll. The whole thing is a delicious symphony of spectacular yumminess! Fresh cut natural fries and fresh cut, potato chips are both very good. Some of the salad dressings are fresh made, just ask. Aero has always been our go to spot, but unfortunately over the last year or so with the new ownership I feel like it has really gone downhill. Attempted another night out there last night (a busy Friday), and was so disappointed. We were a table of 4, took a bit to be greeted, and get our drinks, but it was busy, and you could clearly see how understaffed it was so we were fine to wait. Our server was very personable and outgoing so he made it fun. We ordered apps, chicken fingers and fries (extremely burnt, and dried out - both fries and chicken), and the nachos with chicken. The flavor of all the nachos was great, but there was very minimal toppings. We asked the food runner for plates to share both apps, and she came back with 1. We ordered 3 burgers; two fried pickle burgers and they were yummy, and 1 Bacon Jalapeno Jam burger, but they forgot the jam. Literally waited 50+ minutes for the burgers. We were there for over 3 hours for 2 apps and 3 burgers. Our server did comp a round of drinks which was nice, and appreciated but we just wanted good food and a good time! Overall just sad since the vibe of this is so cool, and the drinks are always changing and fun! read more

Made a second visit here last night, the first being quite a few years ago. I remembered Aero having a great beer menu and an even better food menu. It was also hard to forget their decor, including a three seat row of real airplane seats near the front door. I'd go to Aero for at least a dozen different sandwiches but the one that sticks out for me is the mahi. Normally you have to go to Florida or a coastal area to find a restaurant that serves this exotic fish, and even if you do find it at a mainland restaurant, the flavor is dampened and unlike the freshly caught. I'm not sure how they do it, but Aero makes a killer filet, and it comes in an enormous cut, which in this day and age is tough to find. Great ambience in here, the aircraft decor is really cool, service is with a smile and helpful, and the food and beer are both top notch. Cheers! read more

Many years later- an updated review. Nothing but positives for Aero over the last few years. I'm probably at aero between once a month and once a week. I schedule after work drinks here, meet fam, etc. It's become my go to for drinks and dinner. Drinks are generous and the bartenders and waitresses are great. Large selection of beer and the mixed drink specials are switched up regularly and are worth paying attention to. Wings are consistently great. Burgers are great. Salads are good. Chicken sandwiches are great. Aero really deserves to be recognized as Rockford's bar with great food that occasionally goes beyond the level of a gastro pub. I definitely suggest you check it out if you haven't- it's become my easy choice for good drinks and food and a comfy environment. read more

very disappointed in our service and food last night. this is usually one of our favorite places to go but last night my husband was looking forward to the chicken & Mac and cheese sandwich which he was told was no longer on the menu and he could not order a chicken sandwich and have the Mac & cheese added to it. then two of the drinks that we ordered were not available. there were only 5 of us and each one of us got our food at different times. the last person didn't get theirs until the rest of us were pretty much done eating. getting refills on drinks was also horrible, when our waitress did put our order in it took forever to get them read more

My boyfriend and I decided on Aero for our date night away from baby. I enjoy the vibes of the place. It is aviation themed so they have awesome decor up. We got the buffalo chicken dip spring rolls. It comes with 4 but as you can see we were too excited to eat before we could take a picture. They were delicious, I would order them again. For our entree, we got the Baja tacos (fish tacos) and the munchie mac. Both were delicious as well. The cod was fried beautifully and the sauce on top was a good touch. The Mac was crunchy on top that my boyfriend enjoyed. He said it added a nice crunch to his bites with the gooey Mac and cheese. For drinks I got the cranberry margarita and that was very good! I also like the cute glass that it comes in. My boyfriend got the beer flight and he stated that it was a great deal for 20 oz of beer! The service is great, the servers are very helpful when making recommendations. I've been stuck between a few things and their recommendations have made me very happy! The sweet chicken sandwich is what my partner calls the best chicken sandwich he's ever had. I've had the munchie mac and cheese several times and it's so good! Creamy, cheesy, the noodles aren't over cooked... yummm!!! We've had the burgers, they're awesome as well! You can customize what you'd like on it. The tacos are great! Every time I come here I have such high hopes that are not fulfilled. This most recent visit we ordered wings (supposed to be with habanero sauce but honestly could not taste the heat at all) as well as a burger for him and the quesadilla special for me. His burger came out hammered. So overcooked that he could not eat it, and this is a man who loves burgers. My quesadilla was just... uneventful. No seasoning on the protein, and nothing exciting. To top it off both of our cocktails were nearly inedibly sweet. We have officially been here three or four times and every time I leave disappointed. On our way to Galena for a long weekend, we were looking for a good lunch option along the way. I'm so happy I found this place on Yelp. It's such a cute, modern place with tasty food. I stated with a blackberry mimosa to celebrate the beginning of our time away. They served it in this cute antique glass. For lunch I chose the Cabano sandwich. The pork was so tender and flavorful. When I got full, I made sure to finish off the pork and left the bread. My husband got the bacon blue burger. He said it was very good.
