We decided on Chinese for dinner Christmas night, and this was one of the few places we found to be open. Turned out to be lucky for us. I thought the food was great, which I'm balancing against my wife's view that it was okay. I had the black pepper chicken lo mein, which I had never had before, and hot & sour soup. I would definitely get both again. The lo mein was outstanding, and the soup was some of the best hot & sour I have ever had. My wife went with simple broccoli & chicken, and I think she just made the wrong choice. Very bland and average. Drove through the area and wanted some Chinese, so I stopped by here. It was an interesting spot. It offered a pretty large seating area, but there was no one else there during the lunch hour other than one man sitting alone, and it was dead quiet. No music played out front or in the back kitchen. I found myself humming unconsciously trying to fill the silence. All that being said, once the food was ordered, it took a few minutes to get some hot, fresh food. And it was good. I was ready to taste the bland fried rice I've been disappointed to find everywhere, which tastes of tap water and diced onions, but this rice actually had some flavors cooked in! My sesame chicken was the usual ratio of more dough than chicken, but the sauce was good. And the plain lo mein was a nice surprise, as I've never had one that had warm garlic undertones before. Got party sizes for the foods: Sesame Chicken/General Tso chicken - very good... I ate way too much than I should have... Shrimp fried rice- was pretty good! Maybe because I had such bad chinese food experience couple days before this but it tasted pretty good. Don't think they skimped on the shrimp. I'm curious to know how often the customer before me orders here as her order was substantially larger than mine and her total three times as much. She clearly ordered from menu memory....oh well. Kudos for the way they accepted the $$ though. ....plexi glass, no contact payment or contact delivery of your order ‍ With all of that being said, DO NOT, DO NOT eat there unless you like mediocre food and adding four packets of soy sauce to make it edible.... This is definitely my go to chinese spot in the rock hill/Charlotte area. Some of my favorite dishes are the Szechuan lo mein, honey chicken, and the boneless bbq ribs. Tonite we had the Szechuan wontons. They definitely were not what I expected. They weren't bad, but I expected a steamed wonton in Szechuan sauce. It was more like crab Rangoon with pork soaked in Szechuan sauce. I try to get different items each time to taste different things on their menu. We had a big order of chicken wings, fried scallops, sesame chicken and fried rice which were all good as well. Tonite my honey chicken and lo mein were a miss. They are usually consistent, but all restaurants have an off night sometimes so it's understandable. I will definitely continue to patronize Dragon Express! read more

I can't speak for their other dishes, but their hibachi beef is awful. The beef is that textbook soft and chewy Chinese takeout beef. Not to mention it has no flavor despite being drowned in sauce. I have enjoyed Dragon Express for many years. They have an extensive menu with all of the classic dishes. The lunch and combo sizes are large portions, and the large dishes are big enough for two. Everything i have had is top quality and very tasty, always prepared well. The location is a bit dated and spartan in appearance. But the staff is friendly and service is quick, which makes it a ok for just waiting around for your takeout. The prices are also reasonable too, so it is an all around great place to get your Chinese food fix. read more

The people that work here have always been friendly to me and I have never had to wait longer than fifteen minutes for my food, whether it's a call-in or walk-in. They are super speedy and my food is always amazing. I usually get the sesame chicken combination plate or the honey chicken combination plate! The food was good, the prices were low, and the staff was friendly. That being said, I would recommend taking out rather than dining in, as the children of the staff were somewhat rowdy and loud. Tried it tonight after passing by it numerous times. I've lived in Rock Hill for two years and this is by far the best Chinese I've had here! I've tried the other restaurants and I guess the saying of "save the best for last" has come true today! They have many vegetarian options, and the food is delicious. Meat eating family members ordered Rangoon, donuts, fried rice with chicken. I forgot to order mine with white rice, but their fried rice didn't seem to have egg. I eat egg but refuse to eat egg yolk, and to my surprise I didn't see egg yolk! I'll be returning soon, the prices were good! The food was even better. This is now my go to Chinese place. This place has a dated interior, but the food is great. I recommend their Singapore Rice Noodle dish. It's spicy, but not too much. Includes finely slivered vegetables, chicken, pork and shrimp. And of course rice noodles similar in size to angel hair pasta. read more
