The event is well organized, family friendly, and has a great community atmosphere. My biggest tip is to arrive early, dress in layers, and bring a chair or blanket. It gets chilly before the sun comes up, but it's absolutely worth it. Whether you're a local or visiting Reno, this is one of those events that reminds you how special our community is. It's not a regret waking up 2 in the morning to see this magical event. The dawn patrol started at 5am so we were there about 3:30. Parking starts to fill at that time and we were all bundled up. If you plan to do this event, wear comfy shoes as there's a lot of walking to get to the parking and going into the park itself. There's $25 cash parking fee if you park at San Rafael. But if you park outside, it's always free. Bring blankets and folded chairs. There's merchants selling food and other things which start serving at about 5:30 am. The place is almost at full capacity as early as 5am so be there at least 3:30am. I'm sure you will have an amazing time! All balloons for Dawn Patrol ascended at 5:30. Then about 7am all the other balloons started going up. See you again, next year!

I'm a recent resident at Atwood, and I have very mixed feelings. Overall, they missed the mark by a…read morewide margin and I would not return unless there was a significant shift. I did not feel safe and there was too much crime. That's the reason for the hefty security presence. I would have left before my lease expiration, but per the lease, that would have cost nearly $10k+concessions (extra $2450). If you do choose to live at RED, I would recommend Emory, as Atwood has too many challenges. Plus you can make friends with someone at Atwood to use the rooftop. Besides the pool area, all amenities at Emory are accessible without being exposed to the elements. Positives: - Currently, you won't find anything else in Reno close to the stunning rooftop and gym. - Located a short Uber ride from the airport and midtown. - They host many free events (wine tasting, food, etc.) - Gas appliances and attractive design. - Secure package delivery. - Edgar and Anthony are awesome and keep that place going! Negatives: - I experienced inconsistent communication with office personnel on many occasions and there is a lack of follow through. - NUMEROUS VEHICLE BURGLARIES in the parking garage! May the odds be ever in your favor. - The glass elevator is not cooled or heated. Yes, it gets well over 120 degrees and the elevators seem to frequently down for issues. - The pet spa is located on the ground level of the parking garage. It's not ideal to wash your pet then immediately expose them to sub-freezing temps in the winter. (Emory's is within the climate controlled building) - The pool is ONLY heated in the warm months! They do not heat it in the colder months. Why even have a heated pool? - When they communicate an amenity is down, they always say "until further notice"... but the further notice never comes so you must constantly check with them. - Be aware of the different unit variations. Most units do not offer water in the refrigerator, a convection oven, or keypad door locks. - Good luck with the heating, a/c and fire alarm popping in 613. Hopefully, it's properly corrected by now. Maybe I should have lowered my expectations for Reno's premiere, luxury property ‍... or maybe they should live up to what they aspire to be and preach.

Each vehicle had one thing in common, huge massive speakers. There was a vehicle that looked like a swing line stapler. A car that looked like a sardine can with the top peeled. A mobile stripper pole car and several other just odd looking cars. I guess a big part of burning man is the art and music. The music was cool but way loud. Multiply that by about 700 to 1000 and you get slot of weird vehicles playing loud music and some shooting flames. Maybe one day I will go , it was cool.

When we arrived, it was more like a low key night club with loud music, lights and the with booths for samples. Some people were dressed in formal wear and others in Halloween costumes. The theme was Nightmare Before Christmas and some people leaned more with the Halloween part. The booths were giving out samples, like popcorn from Galaxy Theaters, tiny samples of Kettle's espresso martini, a bit sized sample of fudge, and ice cream. It reminded me of a craft fair with the random samples. For an event titled, "Fantasies in Chocolate", I would have thought there would be more chocolate. For the event, I was surprised there weren't more places for photo ops with good lighting. All in all, this wasn't my style. I was thinking it was more of a formal event.

Many times in life it's the simple things…read more Along the Truckee River there's a gentleman that takes rocks from the river and creates small sculptures of people and animals. He manages to balance these various sized river rocks to make his creations. It amazes me the size of the sculpture he can produce and how perfect they appear. I'm glad he has the passion and time to make these. I enjoy checking them all out when Sheela and I walk along the Truckee River. It is really disappointing to know that some people thinks it's ok to destroy the works; they are in anyone's way or bothering. Just enjoy.

I love art when it just sort of happens unexpectedly…read more I have been a fan of Mr. Hobo for awhile now as I am a frequent walker along the Truckee Riverwalk. His works are thoughtful, humorous, beautiful and poignant. I really love his reclining people and the little stories each one seems to tell. He is a gifted artist. The creativity of closing, arranging and balancing pieces of river rock to make his sculptures is truly a sight to behold. He does have pieces for sale that have the rocks attached, but most of his displays are completely stacked and balanced. When the water level is low enough, he adds pieces in the river between the Sierra and Virginia Street bridges. This guy Rocks! (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

This was an amazing experience with so many people from our community present. People from all…read moreages, sexes, and backgrounds. No one was not represented here today. This was an amazing event to see the people expressing themselves with both banners, signs and slogans. Expressing their feelings. Supporting their community. Tribes. Groups, Voicing whatever they feel strongly about concerning Women's Rights. "No means No" " My body is mine " Equal Rights Equal pay " even hand made " My dog under stands No " Woman were being represented by everyone in the crowd today. Both men and boys were present. Young and old. Kids and teenagers. This day didn't discriminate between anyone: sex, age, and/or color. This event united us all today. It was such a beautiful day with a voice of strong support from all the people yelling for Women. It was quite liberating. It was covered by many tv channels here and out of state. Many City Council members and State Board members were present to speak at the event. Also individuals in our community. Family members who were honored today and those who were remembered present and from the past events. Today's weather did corporate and was sunny. Making this event possible for all to enjoy and benefit from in our community. Thanks everyone who joined. Especially the people who made this possible. You did an amazing job. Shout out to the families for spending time with us. To the speakers for being there for showing our community support for our 7th Annual Reno Women's March. Which now is an official day as of this year 3/25/23. See you all next year.

A small city plaza downtown…read more Nestled along the Truckee River as part of the Riverwalk, this area sits between the Cinemark Riverside theater and Java Jungle. It has ramp access from Arlington and Sierra Streets, stairs from West Street. There's also a bridge access across the Truckee to Wingfield Park. And a large stair area into the Truckee for wading on hot days. On beautiful days various artists and musicians set up spots to sell wares and play. Be careful on busy days, as pedestrians, dog walkers and bicyclists can make the area rather congested. During summer events this can often be full of vendors.

I've been across this bridge so many times in the past 14-15 years or so commuting from Carson City…read moreto Reno. It's definitely an engineering beauty and was the final step before I-580 from Reno to Carson City was completed, opening in 2012. You used to have to take S. Virginia St./Carson-Reno Highway south from Reno until you came upon the entrance to I-580 at Bowers Mansion Rd. Having this bridge makes commuting so much easier and there is only one state remaining now that does not feature a freeway from the capital to a major airport (South Dakota). Congratulations Nevada--you've joined the big leagues! I-580 spans this bridge with three traffic lanes in each direction. It can be pretty scary traversing it when it is windy, rainy, and/or icy/snowy. You need to slow down, especially if you drive a higher-profile vehicle like a bus, RV, trailer, big rig, or even SUV or minivan. In fact, just slow down when conditions warrant it no matter what size vehicle you drive. My one complaint about this bridge is there are no warning sign like other states have that bridges ice before roadways, and people speed through it during bad weather like a bat out of hell. This is why I am subtracting a star from this review. This past winter (2022-23) there were numerous accidents and multi-vehicle pileups on this bridge or very close to it which caused the freeway to be closed for hours. It seemed every week there was an accident and closure sometimes. Please slow down! The winds blow on top and bottom of a bridge, which makes it colder, and thus prone to freezing earlier than the rest of the freeway. If it's really bad weather, I might even take Carson-Reno Highway as an alternative to avoid this bridge for the above reason. It adds five minutes of so to your commute, but it can be safer, with less traffic. Of course, if the roads are very snowy, it is better to take the freeway though, since NVDOT plows Carson-Reno Highway less frequently, and it does not get priority over the freeway. You have to use your judgment. But otherwise, it's a fun bridge. You can see it heading south on 580 about a mile or two before it, so you get a good perspective on how it looks. You also view it from Connie Way in New Washoe City. In fact, I might head there in the next few days to take some pictures to post here!

I really enjoyed monitoring the construction on this bridge. It's quite a feat from when they…read morestarted with just cuts into the mountain. Driving on it, it's a cement highway. The bridge looks like a smooth modern dinosaur shaped structure. I also like to hike the surrounding mountains and always try to spot this big bridge from the many trail lookouts that I make it to.
