A friend of mine asked me to join them for dinner. We had a reservation in which we were seated promptly. We took a few min to decide on what to order. We decided and the waitress happily took our order They accommodated my friend as she asked for muscles instead of clams. She enjoyed her dinner. Another friend ordered Caesar salad with salmon. I must say the Caesar was a side salad portion normally it would be a larger size when adding a hunk of protein. It literally was a sm soup bowl size. The salmon was a decent size. I asked how was the salad dressing was. And she mentioned she makes a better one at home with a little more anchovy forward. I mentioned I hope it's not from a bottle. 2 of us ordered chicken Parmesan. This is where it went screwy! Instead of the big pasta noodles it came with, we asked of we could sub it for angel hair with Alfredo sauce. Sure she said. Let me ask the cook though. She came back and it was a go. As we waited for our dinner, my friends chicken parm came back with no marinara just mozzarella on her chicken which looked a little dry and her angel hair ( or capillini pasta) had little Alfredo sauce on it I told her that not traditional chicken parm. When I ordered I said I'll have the same as her. When I received mine, the Alfredo sauce was on the side in a dish. I can live with that. The chicken parm was just a fried piece of chicken. Everyone said it looked dry. No sauce no mozzarella. I wish I would have taken a pic of that. So I send it back and ask them to add marinara sauce and mozzarella and pop it under the broiler briefly to melt cheese. I could hardly cut the thin piece of chicken that looked like it was deep fried. It was dry by that time. I hate sending things back to the kitchen cause you never know what's going on now with your dinner She said there must have been a miscommunication. I guess there was.!! Needless to say I didn't eat but a couple of bites, since it was pretty dry. The Alfredo sauce had no flavor. I definitely could have done better myself. When you go out to dinner the point is not having to cook at home. I spent 39.00 with tax and top for a meal I didn't enjoy. Boo! And uneventful and disappointing to say the least. Ok ... So they ordered dessert. The espresso crunch gelato was tasty as I tried that and their tiramisu was very well done. I didn't try the cannoli as I didn't want to take from my friend's medium size cannoli. Not enough to share. Here's my final take away... I'm not sure if I'll ever go back as I had been there once before for happy hour and it was SPENDY for a happy hour. We all could have ordered a meal for the price of half hour. Needless to say they don't do HH anymore. I have to wonder why. ? I think I can guess. Im really surprised the owner didn't check in when I didn't receive my dinner and that they had all received theirs and then when it was sent back, he didn't check. This was my first time here and it was fantastic. We had 2 appetizers garlic bread and grilled artichokes. Both were supurb... the garlic bread was a good... a little loaf cut in half the long way and then into pieces... the artichokes were grilled and cooked to perfection. Chicken marsala came with garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms and marsala sauce... this dish was delicious. Friends has eggplant parmesan that was really really good. Sauce was great and the eggplant was cooked perfectly. Crab and shrimp cocktail also was delicious. Dessert was also order the lemon chiffon cake was so light and airy and moist and delicious. Still the best Italian food in Reno. We were loyal customers at their old downtown location but were worried that such a big move (from 7 employees to 42) with an expanded menu might hurt the quality of food and service. The menu items we loved before are still just as excellent and the service is impeccable! Went today as a treat from my friend as a back to school lunch! This used to be the old Rapscallions which was a great restaurant in the day! They've kept the interior all the same and I love the deco and am glad it was kept original. Hope was our server and was very helpful and attentive. I wasn't sure of a wine I asked her about and she offered me a sample before ordering. I loved it so ordered it. I had the chicken Marsala which was perfectly seasoned not salty and the garlic mashed potatoes were so good as well as the asparagus and tomatoes served alongside. Bread isn't served with the meal but I didn't miss it. More than enough food but we shared a crispy cannoli with whipped cream, yummy! The outside patio is beautiful with a waterfall for ambiance and nice plants for a visual display. I'd love dinner outside once it cools off in Reno! read more

Let's start with the location...sketchy at best. Lots of attention to the interior to create that "Old School Italian vibe". Do you like Dean Martin? So do they... a lot. Our booth was very private, so much so after sitting for 10 minutes I had to ask for our server. The bacon wrapped Italian sausage was tasty, enough for 2 to share. No bread, unless you order it, no salad unless you order it. My gluten free penne was cooked perfectly. BUT........the name of the dish should have been Lemon Scampi. It was overwhelming, so much so that I was taking the penne and tapping it to get the sauce off. My husband's lasagna was just not that great. Since I couldn't eat it, I asked why. Too dry, not enough cheese and the sauce was OK. For the price of everything, and the lack of bread or salad included, we won't be back. read more

I finally got to dine in at this place and I was impressed. My family and I were seated outside which was lovely. It was a little chilly that day but, they had the fireplace going. I loved the mood. Our server was great, she was informative and catered to our needs. We had calamari, chicken parm and chicken piccata. They were seasoned well and perfect quantity. Definitely would come back. Came here during Dancing in the Streets and the parking was super limited. Unfortunately, people were parking in their lot and leaving their cars. Not a problem of the restaurant, but it took time to find a place to park and hope I wasn't late for my reservation. The service was really good. The waiter was attentive but not overly so. No pressure, which I like. I ordered the tiramisu-tini, which was their play on an espresso martini. It was super good! Very well balanced. Not too sweet or too strong. I ordered the crab and shrimp cocktail. For $20 I felt it was an absolute steal. It was delicious. We got the fried calamari which was lightly battered and also delicious. Tender and not chewy. I also got the 14oz ribeye. It was really good, not overcooked, but a bit over seasoned. Last, I got the tiramisu dessert and the lemoncello one. (I can't remember the exact name). The tiramisu was SO good. Traditional with the lady fingers. The only downside is that I wanted a bit more coffee flavor. I would definitely come back to try more! read more

I was so excited to try this new location. We visited them on First Street about a year ago and while we loved the food, it was hard to park. Their new location is in the old Rapscallion restaurant, a Reno icon for many years. It was one of my family's go-to special occasion spots and I have a lot of great memories from there. We arrived around 6:30 on a Wednesday and the place was packed. I couldn't find a spot in the parking lot so I wound up parking across Wells after doing a couple of loops. Once inside we sat a table in the middle. It was pretty loud for about the first hour we were there. Our waiter came over and luckily I immediately ordered an appetizer, the bacon wrapped sausage we had liked so much at their other place. Our appetizer came fairly quickly and we ordered our entrees. The bacon wrapped sausage was very tasty, pretty spicy. My mom and I were both hungry so we had no problem finishing it. After that we waited well over an hour for our entrees. Everyone around us got theirs. At one point our server came over to take our appetizer plate and said our entrees would be right up but we waited at least another 30 minutes after that. Finally our entrees came out - my mom got the veal scallopini and I had the baked salmon and artichokes. All the food was really good when it finally came. What was puzzling is that no one acknowledged or apologized for how long it took. Is it really normal to wait more than an hour between apps and entrees? It's also hard to explain, but there was a strange vibe to the service. Our server seemed very stressed out at the beginning of the night, and it didn't seem like he relaxed until we had our dessert. None of the other servers in the restaurant seemed to be smiling either. Maybe because of the rush and because the kitchen was obviously behind. Another thing I felt was weird is that they don't serve bread. They have garlic bread on the menu as an appetizer, but no other bread with the meal. Now I can understand if they don't bring it automatically, but it doesn't seem like an Italian restaurant to me without bread - after all you want to soak up all the yummy sauce. I can take it or leave it but I know my mom was disappointed. Anyway, while the food was really quite good it wasn't the experience I was expecting. I do love that they kept the original decor of the building intact - the lovely wood panelling and the beautiful booths with the glass. HOLY COW! This place really knocked it out of the park as far as Italian food goes in Reno. Marcolino's took over the old Rapscallion location. It has the old school feel that kind of transports you to another time. Our server and I believe owner, Billy, was incredible. We came in on a Friday night with no reservations, we could see it was busy. Marcolino is the one that greeted us and said let him see what he could do. He found us a cozy booth table by the bar and got us situated. He even helped us pick out a lovely bottle of Rose, that we thoroughly enjoyed. Next was picking out what to eat, it all sounded delicious. I was torn between the Salmon and the Halibut, recommend to go with Salmon. So glad I did, I could stop eating until it was all gone. My husband went with the Chicken Cacciatore, it had a tasty red sauce with a little spice kick to it. Healthy portion that he is getting a second meal out of it. We also enjoyed an order of their garlic bread with our meal, it was hard not to eat it all when it came out beforehand. We settled on the Limoncello and Tiramisu for dessert and shared them. We were quite full when we left. I will give fair warning that parking is a challenge, they do have a small customer parking lot. However I have never had any luck getting in there. The tables are elegantly appointed with white linens and individual candles, creating an intimate and romantic atmosphere. The culinary offerings were exceptional, and while the price point was somewhat elevated, the quality of preparation and presentation fully justified the cost. Located in the former Rapscallion location in Mid-Town, Marcolino's is a great location for quality Italian, located in a historic venue. Starting from their humble Food Truck beginnings, Marcolino's has evolved into a legitimate fine dining estabishment. We had a large group (10) and sat in one of the banquet halls, off to the side. On this evening, several staff called in sick, always a challenge for any restaurant, so we were served by the General Manager, Bill. Bill greeted us with his deep and passionate knowledge of the dishes, sharing where the food was sourced and had strong opinions as to what his favorite dishes were. I don't know if Bill reguarly serves tables but I believe our night was a little bit better, because of Bill's passion and knowledge. My wife and I split the Ribeye steak. The steak was prepared to perfection, with the perfect level of doneness, a touch of char from the grill and just the right amount of fat in the meat. Amazing. The vegetables were asparagus. Roasted perfectly, they had just the right amount of donenss to be cooked but not over done. For starters, Bill recommended the Garlic Toast. Well executed. I thought it was funny when he said to eat it warm when it first arrives because if you let it sit, it will get hard and won't be as good. He was spot on. Delicious when delivered but that last piece was hard as a rock. Well done Bill, well done. The Ceasar Salad was fine. The lettuce was fresh. Nothing special just fine. As one who enjoys the history of Reno, Marcolino's is a worthy steward of the Rapscallion location, continuing the heritage of fine dining in Reno. read more

Four of us went here for dinner on a Thursday night at 5:30. The restaurant was busy, which we were very glad to see as it has just recently opened. We were quickly escorted to our seats. I was a little flummoxed because it was a tiny little booth that was extremely tight for 4 adults. It seemed like it was a more appropriate seat for a party of two. But we went with it. I later wished we hadn't. The booth was just too small and cramped. When our server arrived to take our order, she let us know you could order half of a dinner salad. That was a nice touch. I ordered half of the house salad. It was quite tasty. Everything was fresh and it was nicely presented. For dinner, I had chicken chicken cacciatore. It was also quite tasty. It was a large portion that packed a little heat. I really enjoyed it. I shared a cannoli for dessert. It was also quite tasty. My hiccup came from the service we received. As I said above, the restaurant was quite busy and it almost seemed like they didn't have enough staff. Our salad plates stayed on the table for the longest time after we were done. So did our dinner plates. When we got our desserts, they were simply dropped off without utensils. I tried to ask for forks, but the server was not to be found. Luckily, we all had spoons left over from dinner so we used those. The prices are not cheap. And for such prices, I expected higher level of service and more attention to detail. Here with a group for a pharmaceutical dinner program. Sat in front room. It's a bit small but adequate. Interestingly, I spoke to another Pharma rep the very next day at work and she said that she tried to schedule an dinner program here and was told by management that they were not hosting drug rep or Pharma dinner programs there. I'm not sure why the mixed messages? I'm fairly connected with the foodie scene in Northern Nevada so I spoke to a few of my friends and contacts who have tried them since the move into the new location to get some of their feedback. Reviews have been mixed. Most are mediocre with couple of them very pleased and a couple of them extremely disappointed with their experience. I thought it was ok. But, there's a caveat, I try not to make opinions based on a group dinner as this is not the true experience diners will see when coming and therefore I need another visit as a regular guest to make a true review. The food was good. Not great. The server was slammed but she did a pretty good job trying to help everyone. She did forget to bring my dessert wrapped up in a to-go box however. Our first time at Marcolino's certainly won't be our last. This recently opened Italian restaurant has a vintage luxury old Reno atmosphere that is charming and fun. Co-owner, Bill/Billy/William, and staff (many who are family members of the 2 co-owners) are welcoming and professional. However, the most important thing-- the menu and the dishes served-- are simply top notch. This is an update to my prior review. We finally made it over to their new location in Midtown. They are in the old Rapscallion restaurant that closed during the Covid Pandemic. It is nice to see it being put to good use after watching this iconic Reno restaurant sit sadly empty for the last six years. This place is HUGE! The bar area alone is larger than the entire restaurant on 1st Street. Had a chance to visit with both Bill and Marco on a very busy very filled Thursday night. I am so glad to see them off to a fabulous start in their new location. The food was most excellent. We started off with some garlic bread. For our main course I had the Chicken Cacciatore, my husband had the Chicken Parmesan. Both dishes were delicious and the portions were very generous. We were able to get through about half of the meal with the boxed up remains for lunch. Even though we were stuffed we managed to eat most of a shared tiramisu. I think next time we will share a main dish. Our appetites are not as big as they used to be. We were delighted to have Brittany as our server. She took most excellent care of us. While I miss having them so close to home, I am ecstatic that they doing so well in their new location. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

A great blue cheese escargot ( if you've not tried it you need to) then we split a Brittany Burrata outstanding salad!! Kathy had lasagna and I had Sicilian spicy linguine with pork sausage. Great addition to the Reno Food scene. Ambiance: classy old-school Italian restaurant. Parking lot is small. But they have a terrific bar and a very warm "old country" feel to the interior. We were so excited to try Marcolino's in their new location that we couldn't wait for two more weeks for reservations (which is how far they are currently backed out) and decided to try a walk-in or to sit in their bar area or speakeasy. We got lucky this night and were able to get a seat in the main restaurant area at 7:30pm on this busy Saturday. The restaurant is just as I remembered it -all the beautiful wood features, beautiful blown glass mountain scene in the bar area, a lot of different seating areas but with a live view of Italy walking tours (picture gondolas in Venice ), playing on a large TV in the main dining room. The restaurant is still wonderfully romantic, but somehow I can still remember the wonderful Seafood dishes we had in the prior rapscallion restaurant. This was drawing me to order the shrimp scampi or the penne vodka sauce with shrimp - but I opted for my favorite Italian pasta - tortellini with pesto. My husband tried the lasagna and we shared a Burrata salad and garlic bread. We also had a couple glasses of their Ratti Barbara. I have to give a shout out to the service as I know opening a new restaurant can be challenging but this is something that marcolinos strives in and you can tell, puts forth the extra effort. The salad was wonderful with roasted tomatoes, pepperoncinis, a flavorful balsamic dressing and burrata topping. The garlic bread was crispy, but not quite as hot as we would've liked. The Tortellini and pasta of the ravioli dish you could tell where something special, tasted homemade very fluffy and light and doughy tasting which I love, and the tortellini were slightly larger than your average tortellini with good filling. The pesto sauce, however, was very salty for my taste. Perhaps not enough cream added to it and almost tasted like dried pesto instead of fresh it was a bit disappointing but the waiter did offer to replace it if it would've been earlier in the meal and actually did take care of this for us. The lasagna came out piping hot and is more of a red sauce than a traditional brown sauce, with more meat that we are used to, but still had great flavors and there were no leftovers of this dish! We were pretty full, but we wanted to try some of their gelato and we tried the cherry gelato which was light, but also very creamy with a great smooth texture. We were seated in the main dining room close to the kitchen and the live streaming TV , but the noise level was a bit much. There was some sort of machine, espresso maker, coffee grinder, or dishwasher going in the background that was very loud, almost piercing to the ears, and kind of took away from the ambience. We will be back to try more of their expanded menu items and would love to just sit in a lovely bar area and possibly the speakeasy. All in all, we love to see this location filled with a quality restaurant and that they preserved a lot of the original beauty of the historic building. read more

I'm so happy for Marco, Tim, and Billy!! Fantastic refurbishment of the beautiful building! The building shows class from Back in the early 1990 to the modernization of today with the decor. The speakeasy is cute, cuddly and romantic. The dinning room is cozy and welcoming. A place to hold private business meetings and order the perfect lunch for your staff/business colleagues a bit of dinner meets sandwiches, salads, soups and flatbreads. My husband had the meatball sandwich, melted into your mouth just like the sweet potato fries. I said, there is no dipping sauce, but you don't need it, because they tasty so good!!!! I had Maddie's Mushroom raviolis the best I have ever had!! It was a hard choice because I wanted to get the lobster bisque soup and the signature salad, but I'll save that choice for next time'!!! The happy hour is 11-11pm Tuesday thru Friday! There is some great items to get, such as crab cakes, Mac & Cheese, and Escargot is back! Starting as a food truck and growing into a full restaurant is no small feat, and it's easy to see why they've earned such a loyal following. If you arrive without a reservation and the dining room is full, don't turn around. The bar area offers open seating and the full menu, which ended up being a great experience for us. We were fortunate to be served by John. He took the time to walk us through the menu, explain the finer details of several dishes, and answer questions with the confidence and knowledge that only comes from years in the hospitality and fine dining industry. His recommendations were spot on and added another layer to an already excellent meal. The food speaks for itself, but exceptional service is what turns a meal into a memorable experience. John made us feel welcomed, valued, and excited about every course that arrived at the table. This restaurant is proof that hard work, great food, and genuine hospitality never go out of style. Just opened this week at their new location on Wells. Went with a few friends for Happy Hour ... can you believe they have Happy Hour from 11 am to 11 pm. Bill said as long as the doors are open, they will have happy hour. There are currently 8 different wine choices ($8). A very nice selection of appetizers and small plates. We enjoyed the Calamari, Bacon wrapped scallops with blue cheese stuffed figs, Arancini with a spicy red sauce and the Escargot. Bill also said they were going to expand the Happy Hour selection by adding as many as 15 more items. Everything was outstanding. The decor of the restaurant barely changed from the old Rapscallions that has been at that location for years. Two separate lounge areas for enjoying cocktails and/or happy hour. Large dining room. Probably two or three times as large as their former place First Street. Outdoor seating, fire pits, two parking lots, plus they said after 5 you can park at Marketon parking lot across the street ... just leave a note in the window saying your at Marcolino's. My friends and I really enjoyed our food and drinks. Server was very pleasant. I took a walk around the restaurant just to see how it was set up and met Marco (Debbie P, he says hello.) Review: Marcolino's (Lunch Service) We headed over to Marcolino's on their opening day at their new location to sample the new lunch menu. While opening days are notoriously tricky for any establishment, my experience suggests that this location has some significant hurdles to clear if they want to compete in the local dining scene. The Atmosphere & Service The "opening day jitters" were unfortunately quite apparent. The ambiance was inconsistent; the music began at an uncomfortably loud volume before cutting out entirely, leaving the room in silence. The entryway was cluttered with a dishwasher tray of glasses, which felt "janky" and unpolished for a restaurant aiming for a higher standard. Physically, the space was uncomfortable. I sat in the middle of the dining room and was hit by a persistent cold draft--it felt as though a door to the kitchen or alleyway was being left wide open. Additionally, the menu design needs a rethink; the font is far too small to be easily legible for many patrons. Service-wise, the staff seemed underprepared. Our waitress struggled to identify the ingredients in the sandwiches, and the kitchen timing was off--while our sandwiches arrived together, the flatbread didn't hit the table until ten minutes later. The Food & Drink The culinary experience was, unfortunately, the biggest letdown. A few key areas for improvement: * The Beverages: I was disappointed to find that the iced tea is served from a soda fountain. In a "nice" restaurant, one expects freshly brewed tea; fountain tea feels like a shortcut that doesn't belong here. * The Meatball Sandwich: On the plus side, the portion size was generous. However, the execution was poor. The bread was cold and hard, and the cheese hadn't been melted. This sandwich desperately needed a few minutes under a broiler before being served. * The Italian Beef: This was undersized for the price point. Furthermore, the bread was untoasted, which left the sandwich lacking in texture and structural integrity. Final Thoughts Marcolino's new location has potential, but they are currently missing the mark on the fundamentals. From the drafty seating to the lack of "fresh-brewed" touches and kitchen technicalities, there is a lot of room for growth. They kept all the amazing charm of the beloved Rapscallion restaurant, while making thoughtful updates. Now to the food. We had the mushroom raviolis, salmon, and chicken Marsala. I couldn't recommend this restaurant enough! I have been to this place many times during the summer, and finally coming around to posting a review. The location at present, overlooks the Truckee River, which during the day, has such beautiful views. It's a cozy area, with a romantic vibe that all will enjoy. Pictures is the chicken cacciatore and the fettuccini Alfredo, both were such wonderful dishes, fresh, full of flavor, and quite possibly some of the best Italian dishes in Reno! The pasta was cooked perfectly, and both dishes had an amazing sauce that was full of zest, seasoning, and it complimented the dish very well. The staff were so helpful and welcoming, always bringing in good conversation to the table, and amongst others who were dining too. This review is for my first experience at the new location on Wells Ave. I loved the Marcolino's location downtown and had been wanting to try their new location, so I coordinated with a pharmaceutical rep to have a work event here! There were about 15 people in attendance on a Thursday night at 6pm. I was shocked to see the parking lot was full when I arrived at 5:45pm, and it took a long time to find street parking elsewhere. The dining room was almost full despite it being a weeknight on the early side of the dinner rush. Our event was in a private room in the back. You walk through most of the restaurant on your way there, so I got to see how much bigger this space is than their previous location. It's noticeably bigger but with that comes the potential for slower service, and that's what we experienced. It felt like we were forgotten about after being placed in the back room. The event included salad and an entree for each person, plus non-alcoholic drinks. However, nobody ever came by to take drink orders and anybody who wanted one had to flag down a waiter. It took 45 mins for our salads to come out, a noticeably long wait. One of the other tables in our room had to wait a full hour! About 15-20 mins later, our presenter finished and the salad bowls still hadn't been cleared and we still didn't have our food. At these events, you usually eat your meal while the presenter is speaking. We got there at 6pm, placed orders at 6:15pm, the presenter spoke from 6:15-7:30, and we did not get our food until 7:45-8pm. It was pretty awkward to have to wait so long for food, especially since our event was technically over already. For getting there so early, we were all pretty hangry after waiting an hour and a half for food. The food itself was delicious and the serving sizes were large enough for us all to have leftovers, but you really can't appreciate the food to the fullest with service like this. In addition to the waiters hardly checking on us or clearing plates, the dishes all came out at variable times instead of in an orderly and timely fashion. Also, the setup of the room was strange because anytime a waiter walked in, they had to walk in front of the presenter and be in the way; I wondered if this made the waiters not want to come in as often. Either way, I was so excited to recommend this restaurant as a new location for pharmaceutical dinners but will likely pick somewhere else next time based off this experience. I still really like Marcolino's and will give them a chance again some other time, but I will probably try to come for a very early or late dinner to avoid this timeframe when the service was really lacking. read more

If you're looking for some authentic, made from scratch Italian food, Marcolino's is a must try. We showed up on a busy Thursday afternoon with no reservation, but the nice gentleman at the front door was quick to get us seated in the patio area within seconds, who can't appreciate quick and courteous service like that. Our sever was just as attentive, unfortunately we spaced his name, but he made sure to suggest local favorites, and ensured we had a great experience. Let's start off by saying that all the dishes we had were packed with rich and savory flavors, so if you aren't use to authentic food like this it might come off strong to some people, but not for us! We started off with the fried raviolis and cesar salad (pictures are shared plates) both were great. Our main course was the 16.oz Ribeye and Shrimp Alfredo, both were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor! We couldn't leave without trying the NY Cheesecake and chocolate/pistachio Canoli . We will definitely be back so we can enjoy more things on the menu, and will definitely ask for the patio again so we can enjoy the firepit, drinks, with some Dean Martin playing in the background. 10/10 visit for us! read more

We are always looking for some great new restaurant to try on our way to the Pioneer for some entertainment. This night - we chose Marcolinos. I've been to the other location a few times and was so happy to see them succeeding. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Parking wasn't easy - and for a Wednesday evening - the place was PACKED! Wow! We shared a bottle of wine and the Fried Mozz and the Burrata Salad - which they were kind enough to split 3 ways for us. That's a big plus. Then - Mushroom Ravioli, Spicy Sicilian and the Chicken Piccata. All were delish and my dining partners cleaned their plates. I took home leftovers - because the serving size was huge! This is our second time back to Marcolino's, we wanted to check out the new location. From the food, to the service and the ambiance it was all incredible. We got the fried raviolis, shrimp scampi, fettuccine Alfredo and of course the limoncello cake. All dishes were 10/10 and we got an additional limoncello to go for a late night snack. Our server Patrick recommended a great wine, and was attentive all evening. He was a great server and anyone is lucky to get him. We are BIG FANS of Marco & Billy for years, and we were excited to bring some dear friends out to dinner to celebrate some milestones in their life. The expectant Mrs. wanted Italian, so we knew just where to recommend! Like walking into Cheers, when you walk into Marcolino's, they greet you like you're old friends. The ambiance is classy & intimate, but at the same time, you'll feel OK whether you're dressed office casual after work or dressed up for a fancy date night. Yes, parking near the river is challenging but that will all change when they move to their new spot in the former DT Reno iconic Rapscallion building soon! We did have a reservation for 6pm, and we were quickly greeted, seated and settled in - and I think we may have ordered *EVERYTHING* lol. I had a glass of red wine, the expectant Mrs. had a Pellegrino & the guys had Italian beers. We started with calamari friti & garlic bread. Impossibly crispy, cooked to perfection & with a duo of dipping sauces, they were probably some of the best calamari bites I've had outside of the Monterey wharf. We followed with the burrata salad & house Caesar, both were delish. For entrees, hubby had Marco's hearty ribeye and massive lobster tail, our guests had that evening's specialty pasta, a lemony angel hair with lobster, and their veal scallopini, and I had chicken picatta. Each was delectable, the proteins perfectly cooked and sauced appropriately, and the mains were served with creamy mashed potato & seasonal asparagus. Normal people would stop there after a meal like this, but we didn't. We had dessert. Correction - dessert(S). Their light & lush Limoncello cake slice & a glass of Spumoni ice cream. Spumoni is better than Neopolitan - change my mind! And too good to just have at the holidays. Oh, and coffee, because some caffeine was the only way were weren't going to be a food coma after such a leisurely, indulgent meal. Guys, the prices are REASONABLE and the service is impeccable. This place will impress a date, a boss or clients, or would be the place for a celebration/special meal like a bday or anniversary. About 2 weeks later, we recommended Marcolino's for a friend's birthday meal and they also had a wonderful experience! This isn't a fluke, this is good food, and plenty of it - served with a touch of class, seasoned with a passion for elevated dining & exceptional service. I came here on a rainy fall night and just wanted comfort food. And that's exactly what I got. I wanted to try a few things, knowing I would have lots of leftovers. I got the pesto tortellini, the famous lasagna, and the chicken piccata. The portions are extremely generous. I think I'll get 3 meals out of this. I sat at the bar so I could hang out with the team, and the service was fantastic. It's a more casual vibe. But the dining area is elegant and classy.
