He manages to balance these various sized river rocks to make his creations. It amazes me the size of the sculpture he can produce and how perfect they appear. I'm glad he has the passion and time to make these. I enjoy checking them all out when Sheela and I walk along the Truckee River. It is really disappointing to know that some people thinks it's ok to destroy the works; they are in anyone's way or bothering. Just enjoy.

His works are thoughtful, humorous, beautiful and poignant. I really love his reclining people and the little stories each one seems to tell. He is a gifted artist. The creativity of closing, arranging and balancing pieces of river rock to make his sculptures is truly a sight to behold. He does have pieces for sale that have the rocks attached, but most of his displays are completely stacked and balanced. When the water level is low enough, he adds pieces in the river between the Sierra and Virginia Street bridges. This guy Rocks! (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

A small city plaza downtown…read more Nestled along the Truckee River as part of the Riverwalk, this area sits between the Cinemark Riverside theater and Java Jungle. It has ramp access from Arlington and Sierra Streets, stairs from West Street. There's also a bridge access across the Truckee to Wingfield Park. And a large stair area into the Truckee for wading on hot days. On beautiful days various artists and musicians set up spots to sell wares and play. Be careful on busy days, as pedestrians, dog walkers and bicyclists can make the area rather congested. During summer events this can often be full of vendors.

East 4th street in Reno is one of those scary areas with homeless shelters and gospel missions, iron works and auto repair shops, empty buildings and dicy looking businesses. Enter the likes of Under the Rose Brewery, Reno Bike Project, and just a few blocks down, the Morris Burner Hotel and soon to be opened craft distillery. I had the great pleasure of attending the second annual Positively 4th Street Event this year and what a great event is was. The real showcase to me was the demonstration of a proposed bike path/street beautification project being proposed along the 4th street corridor. Totally brilliant idea. The street was adorned with potted plants and carefully constructed wood flats benches and the two lane green bike path was carefully roped off with cones and caution tape. A street party was in progress when we arrived with food, bouncy houses, local farmers market (yes truly local!!!), and a bike swap. There were walking, bus and bike tours from the Historical society. There was a pop-up restaurant produced by Campo, Sup, and Homage. All I can say is, "Midtown, watch out. There is a new kid in town."

August 8, 2015 Saturday - 4:00 PM for BEER! 2 Adults…read more Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - Been to Freeze Your Pints Off so I had to go to Sweat Your Pints Off. Atmosphere - A cool night with a little rain which did not damper any ones spirits. I loved how they had covered areas with picnic tables and high top tables to rest, eat, or just get out of the heat, if there was any heat. Food Drinks - I think every brewery came from the area including Tonopah Brewing and The Brewing Lair. I love trying new beers and everyone brought stuff which I had not had before. The twist on the event today was most had two brews listed and soon as one of those beer were gone a new beer was added. So when you went around the second and third times around there were new beers to try. Dinner - With ticket purchase you get a coupon for a food truck, I picked Brothers. That sandwich was out before I could blink. It was so good, packed with meat. One of the things I have learned at these beer events is to eat during it so you are not overwhelmed by the alcohol. I even bring my own pretzels to snack on. Service - To me this event is about beer but more important interacting with the brewers. They all show the pride of their craft. Lots of the brewers were actually hopping around and work other booths to interact with each other. It is a small community and it is great to see them all work together so nicely. Future - Yes.

I was kicking myself and so mad that I had not taken to tiem to come and see this awesome event in the 3 years prior! Yes, its an early wake up but man-oh-man what an awesome sight to see 75-100 hot air balloons glowing at 5:30 am in the dark morning sky. I was so enamored with this, I joined the crew for one of the balloons and now i get to come every year and help set up and launch/recover the balloon. Seeing this first hand and being up close is so fun. 2026 was a little dicey as we struggled with some wind in the forecast. The entire week showed that Saturday was looking pretty grim for flying but Sunday would be beautiful. Well, as a surprise to all, we lucked out on Saturday as the winds were within the range for safe flying. However, Sunday came and so did the winds. At 3:30 am winds were out of the west at 17mph way to fast for the max of 7 mph to fly. In fact they could not even inflate for morning glow. It was fun either way and as a Navy Veteran, I was asked to hold the flag for the singing of the National Anthem. What an honor.

The event is well organized, family friendly, and has a great community atmosphere. My biggest tip is to arrive early, dress in layers, and bring a chair or blanket. It gets chilly before the sun comes up, but it's absolutely worth it. Whether you're a local or visiting Reno, this is one of those events that reminds you how special our community is. A friend of mine asked me to join them for dinner. We had a reservation in which we were seated…read morepromptly. We took a few min to decide on what to order. We decided and the waitress happily took our order They accommodated my friend as she asked for muscles instead of clams. She enjoyed her dinner. Another friend ordered Caesar salad with salmon. I must say the Caesar was a side salad portion normally it would be a larger size when adding a hunk of protein. It literally was a sm soup bowl size. The salmon was a decent size. I asked how was the salad dressing was. And she mentioned she makes a better one at home with a little more anchovy forward. I mentioned I hope it's not from a bottle. 2 of us ordered chicken Parmesan. This is where it went screwy! Instead of the big pasta noodles it came with, we asked of we could sub it for angel hair with Alfredo sauce. Sure she said. Let me ask the cook though. She came back and it was a go. As we waited for our dinner, my friends chicken parm came back with no marinara just mozzarella on her chicken which looked a little dry and her angel hair ( or capillini pasta) had little Alfredo sauce on it I told her that not traditional chicken parm. When I ordered I said I'll have the same as her. When I received mine, the Alfredo sauce was on the side in a dish. I can live with that. The chicken parm was just a fried piece of chicken. Everyone said it looked dry. No sauce no mozzarella. I wish I would have taken a pic of that. So I send it back and ask them to add marinara sauce and mozzarella and pop it under the broiler briefly to melt cheese. I could hardly cut the thin piece of chicken that looked like it was deep fried. It was dry by that time. I'm a recent resident at Atwood, and I have very mixed feelings. Overall, they missed the mark by a…read morewide margin and I would not return unless there was a significant shift. I did not feel safe and there was too much crime. That's the reason for the hefty security presence. I would have left before my lease expiration, but per the lease, that would have cost nearly $10k+concessions (extra $2450). If you do choose to live at RED, I would recommend Emory, as Atwood has too many challenges. Plus you can make friends with someone at Atwood to use the rooftop. Besides the pool area, all amenities at Emory are accessible without being exposed to the elements. Positives: - Currently, you won't find anything else in Reno close to the stunning rooftop and gym. - Located a short Uber ride from the airport and midtown. - They host many free events (wine tasting, food, etc.) - Gas appliances and attractive design. - Secure package delivery. - Edgar and Anthony are awesome and keep that place going! Negatives: - I experienced inconsistent communication with office personnel on many occasions and there is a lack of follow through. - NUMEROUS VEHICLE BURGLARIES in the parking garage! May the odds be ever in your favor. - The glass elevator is not cooled or heated. Yes, it gets well over 120 degrees and the elevators seem to frequently down for issues. - The pet spa is located on the ground level of the parking garage. It's not ideal to wash your pet then immediately expose them to sub-freezing temps in the winter. (Emory's is within the climate controlled building) - The pool is ONLY heated in the warm months! They do not heat it in the colder months. Why even have a heated pool? - When they communicate an amenity is down, they always say "until further notice"... but the further notice never comes so you must constantly check with them. - Be aware of the different unit variations. Most units do not offer water in the refrigerator, a convection oven, or keypad door locks. - Good luck with the heating, a/c and fire alarm popping in 613. Hopefully, it's properly corrected by now. Maybe I should have lowered my expectations for Reno's premiere, luxury property ‍... or maybe they should live up to what they aspire to be and preach.

First, we showed up on a Friday evening around 7pm, and was told there was a 25 min wait. We said no problem and went for a little walk. We even walked all the way to another restaurant called The Shore to see the menu and then decided to try the pizza place. It is a huge restaurant with an inside bar and outdoor patio with lots of seating. The outside looks amazing, but the inside was cramped and super stuffy and hot. We tried to order some drinks inside but the bartender was super busy and then a server came up and basically told us to wait until we got seated before ordering drinks. After another 10-15 min, we finally got seated. I looked around, and there were a lot of people sitting and waiting for food at tables. The waitress was nice, and we ordered our food right away. After waiting an extraordinarily long time with no food or service, we waved the waitress over and she went to check on our order. Came back and said it would be 10 more minutes. Can she offer us some nuts and olives? We were starving so we ate all that was given to us. Finally, our food came out! We only ordered marinara pasta with chicken&mushrooms (since the meatballs were already gone) and one Cherrypicker pizza. The homemade pasta tasted good, but chicken and mushroom was skimpy. Then the pizza had great crust, but the middle was soggy and wet probably from the cherry tomatoes. It took us about 2 hours to get fed that night. I think many other people had the same level of service that night. The place has potential, but I think they need more staff.
