My friend is vegan. Peterborough has a good vegan eatery scene. I did a search and Revelstoke Cafe popped up. Oddly, I had never been. I asked my friend if she was good coming here. She was. Yay! I indicated that I'd arrive at either 2:30 pm or 3 pm. Well, the volume of folks with canoes on their vehicles or boats hitched to them picked up as I drove east. I let my friend know that I'd be there at 3 pm instead. She was good with that. She got there before I did and let me know where she was parked. She had also got a table for us. I let her know that I was ten minutes later than expected. Long weekend traffic will do that to you. I parked on George Street North, across from this restaurant. My approach was super slow trying to figure out where this restaurant was. It's in a residential neighbourhood, but it's right at the corner of George and Edinburgh. It's free parking all day on this street. I walked in. I saw the kitchen and all staff working away. They were friendly. They said hi. I reciprocated and said hi to my friend. I walked over. It was nearly a two-hour drive over. I needed to use the washroom. It's a single stall that everyone uses. It was clean. The floor isn't level, so the door only opens halfway. I also used it before I left and continued eastbound. My friend had already ordered an iced maple chai latte. It looked yummy. She let me know that any coffee on the menu could be made iced. The berry hibiscus lemonade caught my attention, so I ordered it. My first instinct was to hit the brunch menu and get the west coast scramble. However, I took one look at the mushroom hash and was sold. It didn't surprise my friend. I am a huge fan of mushrooms. She got the burrito bowl. It had a vegan version of beef in it. Cool! We chatted a bit. My drink came out first. It was excellent! I love hibiscus and berries together. The lemonade brightened this drink up. It was cold and refreshing for a warm summery day. My friend enjoyed her iced maple chai latte. She said that it wasn't overly sweet with the maple in it. The chai was a good strength and oat beverage was in there to smooth things out. Our mains came out next. Her beef burrito bowl looked so good, especially with a sliced, fanned avocado in the middle. She was about the dig in when she remembered that I liked taking photos of food, so she gave me a bit of time to take a pic before she went for it. She loved her burrito bowl. The flavours were on point. The vegan beef was tender. The veggies were fresh. It looked yummy. I need to try it someday. I loved my mushroom hash. The potatoes were pan-fried and were perfectly done. They were seasoned nicely. The mushrooms were sautéed and delicious. The tofu that simulated a poached egg was super silky. The hollandaise sauce was generous and made this hash awesome. I asked about dessert. This place only had some molasses item that didn't scream for me to get it. She did say that there were cinnamon buns tomorrow. My timing was off. Ugh! Anyway, we got the bill. My friend paid cash her for meal. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and tipped. We both thanked her. My friend and I continued to chat. We were there for three hours. Staff did not mind that we hung around after having paid. There was air conditioning. Before we left, a big ceiling fan over us was activated. We did not feel hot at all during our time here. I can't wait to return. I loved eating here and meeting up with my friend. I highly recommend coming here if you are in Peterborough, whether you are vegan or not. The food is scrumptious and staff are nice. (220)

But old school really counts towards the vibe! Well, our reigning champ is in Havelock (Garden). But, unfortunately was not open today. I looked at the reviews on Yelp and found Wee Wok looked like a good place to try. I stopped in at Wee Wok and placed the order and within 20 minutes I was back on the road. Probably an hour and a half later I was home. Food was all still hot enough - they double bagged everything for me to retain some heat for the drive. To start on the food, I have to say it was all very good. I rarely want to give a 5/5 because there is always the possibility of finding better and now what do you do? Had: Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls, Szechuan Beef, Wonton Soup, Mushroom Fried Rice, Almond Chicken Soo Gui (gravy on the side) and Shanghai Noodles. (Note) My wife was Covid+ at the time so her sence of taste and smell was off. But she loved the comfort of the Chinese Food. And gave it 2 thumbs up. I Found the spring roll to taste unique (herbs?), not unpleasant just unexpected. I liked that it was different. My wife could not detect anything. The Won Ton Soup was tasty and the pork was thick and very tender. Very good, maybe the best ever. The Szechuan Beef was a bit light on beef, but I loved the sauce on the fried rice. Rice was good, Egg Rolls were good, Shanghai noodles were fine, not spectacular. Almond Chicken - great thick crunchy coating, not really greasy. All and all very enjoyable, and was prepared quickly. The staff was friendly. Only thing to be aware of is that I think it's Take out only, there is no dining room. Will happily return

I got the kung pao and spring rolls the first time and both were terrible. The spring rolls were basically filled with low quality black bean paste - the lovely crunch of bean sprouts and lightly oiled paper didn't exist. The kung pao was pretty much diced vegetables, no tofu, and a half hearted sauce. This almond vegetables were terrible, all the vegetables skimped and/or old. The wee corns were dry, the water chestnuts barely existent and soggy. And the Shanghai noodles were not terrible, but lacked in vegetables. I ended up combining my almond veg with the Shanghai noodles to make a passable dish. When people order food it's because they believe what they're ordering will be better than what they have at home, which was a big deal to 3bring to mind
