I visited the Dragonfly Thrift Shop after hearing great things from some neighbors, and it truly surprised me the moment I walked in. With plenty of free parking and curated items displayed outside, you instantly get into the shopping vibe before even stepping through the door. The shop is divided into different rooms featuring well-selected items, pants, dresses, shirts, décor, and even Christmas ornaments. There's also a men's section with dress shirts and suits, plus a secluded room with designer clothing that's slightly pricier but definitely worth checking out. What impressed me the most was how clean, organized, and welcoming the whole place feels. The staff is wonderful, and I was delighted to learn that it's a nonprofit organization run by formerly incarcerated individuals, helping support their reintegration into society. On top of that, shopping here promotes sustainable clothing demand and supply. I absolutely love this initiative and look forward to continuing to support them. I try to visit businesses that have a great cause and was happy to visit Dragonfly with one of my cousins. Attended an event at Dragonfly and was amazed at their mission. They help women who have been previously imprisoned get back on their feet. They provide jobs, guidance for resumes and prep them for job interviews. You can donate your good at this boutique for a great cause! They have a big selection of clothing, home items, shoes, books, etc. I'm sure you can find treasures here at a good value! They have events all the time. I initially was going to attend an embroidery event but was cancelled due to the instructor having gotten sick. Dragonfly Thrift Boutique is an awesome place to donate your items but also to find something unexpected. I was looking for a new spot to donate with that had a meaningful mission, and I really loved Dragonfly. I discovered the boutique when my mom passed away and it came time to part with her things. My sister and I didn't want to give her nice clothes and accessories etc to just any spot, and ultimately we fell in love with supporting Dragonfly bc it helps to support women. It's women owned also, which is something we knew our mom would love supporting. The boutique is part of the Ladies Empowerment & Action Program (LEAP), a nonprofit empowering women to put prison in their past. All proceeds from Dragonfly Thrift benefit LEAP, which made my donation to the boutique seem more impactful. It is so easy to drop things off here, and they give you a slip for tax purposes. And then in terms of the items- there are SUCH cute finds here. I'd definitely suggest ir as a spot to thrift and support. read more

I was on route to my unfortunate destination of Home Depot when I crossed this gem. Mind you, I've driven past this thrift shop a million times but didn't jump the gun. Well, I'm glad I did. Not only is their selection perfectly curated in every crevice but it also embodies that boho chic vibe in every way... almost perfectly rustic I scored tremendo Ralph Lauren button down shirt with a think and well kept threads that really go the extra mile. I mean the whole gamble is the overall fit and functionality but aesthetically soothing & this is the ideal concentrated version paired perfectly to really pinpoint your focus. I walked in & had the pleasure of Angelina & Rachel whose hospitality surpassed most standards, I knew I was in for a quick browse yet a good one. I'm glad I found that shirt, it's perfect for work. I knew it was going to be pricier than Goodwill but it was going to be worth it. I was right. Their whole operation is honestly pretty heartwarming as well. Not only do they work closely with the justice reform system to offer resources towards higher learning for the incarcerated, but they offer them employment with skills to really succeed in society and I find that so intricately powerful in every way. From now until forever, I will exclusively donate my finer goods here because who else is gonna appreciate a pair of apricot corduroys from 1998? This is an awesome thrift store. Dragonly is operated by LEAP, Ladies Empowerment and Action Program. They are a faith based non profit founded in 2009. Their mission is to provide business education to women transitioning out of prison. The thrift store is run by graduates from the program. LEAP fills a much needed gap because many of the programs offered to women leaving prison revolve around substance abuse. Women who do not have addiction problems can slip through the cracks of getting help. LEAP steps in when women are not eligible for homeless services and they can't find employment. LEAP has partnered with the Barry University Andreas School of Business in order to help women transcend their past. The idea for the thrift store came from the generous amount of donations of clothes and items to the graduates of the LEAP program. Founder Mahlia Linquist thought of a way she could sell the extra items in order to raise more money for the program. The thrift store is named after dragonflies because "Dragonflies symbolize transformation, adaptability and self-realization." What a wonderful cause and what a darling store! To start off with they have free parking, a rarity in Miami. You just need to enter the driveway to the left of the entrance and head behind the store. It is a little tight but hey it's free. This thrift store resembles more of a boutique than a second hand junk retailer. The store is very narrow but they have filled it with gorgeous treasures. You enter in the clothing and accessory section and make your way down through books, furniture, and household goods. Everything is in excellent condition and artfully arranged. Prices are higher than your typical thrift store but the items are quality. They often get in name brand handbags. We came to Dragonfly during Black Friday weekend 2020. My nieces love thrifting, they are very patient and know how to spot a good deal! We fell in love with the store instantly. Upon entering, we were greeted by a sales clerk informing us of the 50% sales going on for clothes, jewelry, and shoes. Awesome deals supporting this women owned store. By shopping at the store, 100% of the proceeds go to a non-profit organization, Leap for Ladies, a program that helps formerly incarcerated women get back on track w their lives by offering employment, housing, education, and on going advocacy. I've been shopping vintage, thrift and consignment shops in Miami the US and different parts of the world for over 30 years so you can kind of say this is my jam ...and I'm kind of in love with Dragonfly! There is a lot to love: the place is huge so there's always a lot of merchandise to look through and a lot of space in which to do it. They have clothing, accessories, and furniture. No junk, meaning no rusty toasters, old radios or broken down baby furniture. It's all mid-century furniture, funky art, vintage clothing, current party dresses, cute snakeskin clutches, oversized 80s earrings... You get the idea. The prices are super reasonable and the staff is laid-back and the opposite of snooty. They keep the place neat and clean and seem to be having as much fun as you are shopping. Now here's the best part: the thrift store is an initiative that supports a program called LEAP for Ladies. LEAP works with incarcerated women to help them transcend the prison cycle through education and empowerment. These women enter this program while incarcerated and by the time they leave prison many of them have become entrepreneurs and have all the tools to never return to prison again. So not only are you buying some super cute chic stuff but your money is going to a program that is helping the women of your community and ending the prison cycle in our city's families. Free parking behind the building, drive past the storage business's gates and it's right in the back with signs for Dragonfly customers. Tons of trendy and high quality branded items like Michael Stars, Loft, Uniqlo, Michael Kors, and tons more, as well as more accessible brands. Everything is like $5-20, a bit higher for premium items like St. John. Themed items for the holidays; the Christmas selection of plates and decorations were lovely!
