This cute little shop packs a wallop with the selection of clothes they have. It is very well laid out and organized. They also had some great quality pieces of clothing. I was able to score a beautiful gown, a cute denim skirt, and two tops all for $36. My sister in law also found a cute Miami Heat tank and also came out very happy. This place feels so welcoming and funky. I was immediately drawn to the whimsical aesthetic of the place and the prices are phenomenal. A hidden gem id like to keep that way haha. The selections were pretty slim, there wasn't many size options. I saw a lot of 2 and 22-24 not many in between unfortunately. I'm sure it's because they're all gone and I'll just have to try again later. Lotus House started in 2004 as part of the Sudari Foundation. In 2005 the foundation purchased its first shelter building for women, youth, and children and named it after the pink lotus flower which is the universal symbol of compassion. In 2007 a maternity center opened and in 2008 a 1920's duplex was renovated as a community center. In 2009 Lotus House opened a thrift run by its own charity Lotus House Thrift. LLC. In 2010 a health and wellness center was added to address the medical needs of those without insurance. By 2011 a third residential building opened and Lotus House was serving 68,000 meals and providing 40,000 shelter beds annually. Through the ensuing years Lotus House continued to expand while still having to turn people away for lack of space. By 2017 they exited all of their old buildings and opened a brand new 25 million dollar village. They are now the largest women's shelter in the state of Florida and they shelter nearly 500 people every night. The Lotus House is a fantastic charity. Proceeds from this adorable thrift boutique go to supporting the Lotus House shelter. Some donations to the thrift store go directly towards clients while the items sold help to fund the shelter and its services of health care, job training, counseling, education, and meals. While the shelter is in Overtown, the thrift store is in Allapattah, a kind of less expensive Wynwood. Items you can find in the store include designer and vintage furniture, new and gently used clothing, accessories, home decor, and collectables. The ladies staffing the store were the sweetest. Even the celebrities love this charity. Drake dropped in for a visit in 2018 and made a donation and met with some residents. This is a worthy charity to receive your donations and to shop at. In town visiting from New York on a Thursday evening and didn't realize how bloody hot it was. After making it to my Air B&B, I jetted over to Lotus House and made it 10 minutes before close. When I arrived, the gates were already down. I stood by the window hoping to get someone's attention and at the very least get a "sorry, we're closed." Three people inside saw me and ignored me. This is a beautiful clean boutique where 100% proceeds go to a great cause. This is also a perfect introduction for people who swear they would never go to a thrift store as it looks and feels just like a regular boutique. Very nice furniture and overstock designer clothes at a fraction of the price. Although I didn't walk into the thrift store per se, I was able to see the facilities of Lotus House and was impressed with the way the team behind this place is running the show. I'm an avid thrifter and when I travel I love to find local thrift shops and support them. The clothing selection was limited. They have more housewares. It was decently organized. Some items felt a bit overpriced like a pair of sunglasses were $10 and 25% off. I usually get sunglasses for under $5 at thrift stores. I did find a super cute pair of earrings for $4. I don't know that I would rush back if I'm in the area again, but it's worth checking out. read more

I love going thrifting. Sometimes you just find great items. I've been really into looking for second hand furniture as of lately. I'm always hesitant to buy furniture from thrift stores because of the fear if bed bugs, fleas etc. so you really just have to inspect the furniture before buying. With that said, I found a beautiful chair at Lotus House hidden between some clothes. It had some dings on it but it was absolutely beautiful nonetheless. They only had one chair (no matching chairs) but that was fine because I was planning on using it for a vanity in my room. With a little love I painted the chair and distressed it to fit the look I was going for. I'm absolutely thrilled with my purchase because it was only $10! The only thing that I struggled with when looking through the store was that it was extremely disorganized and cramped... of course I'm not expecting to walk in and it look like a retail store and I know they have limited space with lots of donations but there were just some boxes filled with random things and piles of clothes on the floor. It was random that I found the chair that I purchased between clothes and not with the other furniture... just a little heads up so you know what to expect when coming here! Anyway, regardless of that little detail I think it's a great place to find little gems and I'll definitely come back if I have another DIY project in mind. read more

Great finds at this large thrift boutique located off 7th Avenue and 20th Street, not too far from downtown Miami and Wynwood/Midtown. Plenty of women's clothing displayed around the store (color-coordinated). There is a small inventory of shoes (at least when I visited), good quality suits from Theory, Kasper, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic & Ellen Tracy. Clothing is tagged with color labels unless the white tag has a price already on it. Price ranges from $9.99 (green), $14.99 (yellow), etc. The five stars is for merchandising, organization, professionalism but most importantly because the staff are women that at some point have been at the shelter. Their smiles & spirit are priceless and the pride that they demonstrate in the boutique & donation center is palpable. Kudos to them for overcoming their challenges & being mentors and role models. Used to be a thrift store for the community when it was in the last location. Affordable second hand clothes for the family. $2.99-4.99 for pants and tops and $4.99-$20 for suits and dresses. Now, they have limited selection and everything is so expensive. Now they cater to middle class who can afford to pay prices you get at a regular discount store. Used to be fun to shop in and get excited about the finds. No longer a store for the community to shop in. What a shame because their cause is for women in the community. She explained how Lotus House has helped her in life and helped her find a new path of greatness. I donated a sofa here a few years ago when I was moving out away from Miami and I remember walking inside and wishing I was sticking around so I could stock up on their cute furniture options, while donating to a good cause. Now that I'm back and looking for some gently used and affordable furniture, I popped inside. This time, I was only disappointed. There is significantly less furniture than I remember-- and what they had was not great. That being said, I wasn't looking for clothing, but the shop seemed to have a ton of it. I'm sure if you look hard enough you can make some good finds. This is definitely a thrift store, NOT a vintage store, so as long as you know that going in, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised. So glad I ran into Lotus House! My mother and sister are big on purchasing department store cosmetics like Lancome and Clinique. With their purchases, they normally receive a free gift, usually a makeup pouch with samples of creams, lotions, and makeup. Though they have been passing these on to me for years, I have more makeup than I can handle and use at this point. I also had no use for wrinkle repair creams, and I was tired of seeing the bag full of samples sitting in my guest bathroom for months and months. At the same time, these are high-end cosmetics and would serve someone well, so I did not want to throw them out. I figured I could donate these to "Dress for Success" since they assist homeless and low income women in preparing for job interviews, but to my surprise, they declined the offer, as they only accept sealed cosmetics. In the meantime, I also had some toys to donate that had been in my daughter's drawer for years, so I gathered those as well. I continued sleuthing, calling shelters and finally ran into Lotus House online. I called and they gladly accepted my offer to donate the makeup. In addition to makeup, they accept anything and everything, except books. Clothing, shoes, half-used perfume bottles, shampoo, conditioner...wow! What a great place! My sister used to collect those free hotel shampoos and conditioners and my mother ended up dumping them, as well as shampoos and conditioners my sister had purchased and disliked because they did not live up to their promises. It was upsetting, knowing that had I found out about Lotus House earlier, they could have gone toward a worthy cause, but I understand mom needed the cabinet space in the bathrooms -- at least now we know. Ladies, if you dislike your friend's ugly Christmas sweater gift and the colorful jewelry set that your mother-in-law gifted you, now you can bring them to Lotus House. Same goes for the shampoo that promised pin-straight, frizz-free hair and did not deliver, sitting in a dark corner of the cabinet, replaced by a more effective store find. Guys, if your girlfriend gifted you a tie that is a bit too conservative for your taste, now you know where to bring it. With the money they make selling these items, you will know you're helping to improve the lives of the homeless on the streets of Miami. I was so excited and feeling so good that I donated one of my designer business suits in addition to the toys, lotions and makeup. They accept anything except books, and they are open for donation drop-offs between 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday-Saturday. The staff is very friendly and enthusiastic. I could not find the entrance due to multiple street closures and unfamiliarity with the area of Allapattah, but one of the employees sat on the phone with me and instructed me on how to get to their back entrance, turn by turn. I found her standing on the street, waving, to make sure I saw where I needed to pull in. I was too tired after work to browse their merchandise, but I saw a wedding dress and furniture pieces that were quite nice, and they had a lot of jewelry too. Maybe next time (like on a weekend, when I am more relaxed) I will be able to check out their merchandise and buy something. I am always searching for vintage items, but none of the thrift stores in South Florida seem to have stuff like that. Could this store be the one? In the meantime, I am going to keep collecting items for donation, and encouraging anyone else (like you, the reader), to head on over and donate anything you may no longer use. They have 2 sections. The thrift store and the vintage store. Both sections have a good amount of goodies. I went this past weekend and they had a gray sofa in great condition for $200 (negotiable). I also snagged a beautiful 80's beaded dress in superb condition for $45. The best part about this shop is that some of the proceeds go to Lotus House charities. From what I understand, it's a shelter for homeless women and infants. As a matter of fact, the clerk assisting me was currently being sheltered there. read more

I was disappointed when I got there. First of all, the parking is not free and it is hard to park when there is traffic all over the place. Second, their vintage section was closed off so there was only the thrift section of the store. To be honest, the selections were not as good as I thought it would be. I went while the shop was setting up, they had been open about 2 weeks and bought a Neiman Marcus bag and an Escada shirt. Very nice!!
